A question about character changes

So back when I joined the site in October, I had an idea for having this elaborate backstory thing for my merc, which I can basically sum up as importing the same general character I first started playing as on the SWTOR forums back when I first got into the RP scene imported into the Chaos timeline via the usual method (That is, getting frozen into a hunk of carbonite and lost for a few thousand years.) Back then, however, I didn't know how well that would go over, not really knowing the site and such, so I obeyed the KISS system (Keep It Simple, Stupid), and gave my merc a generic boring backstory.

Now that I've been around longer on the site and have seen other bios that tell me my planned backstory probably won't be a problem, I'd like to edit the backstory. This would also preferably include a species change for him (Human to Chiss, nothing extreme, not trying to turn the guy into a hulking giant or anything lol)), which I'm thinking (but am not sure, hence the question) won't be a problem, since I think hes only taken the helmet off a few times, mostly in faction rp's that he's not in anymore due to faction collapses, and I think once in a duel. Anyway, is that allowed? Would I still be able to maintain the cannon status of my old threads, assuming nothing is contradicted or anything?

Thanks in advance.

No rules against it @Meanken. Just try not to change things just cause you feel like it. Your character is who they are.

Back story is a little, lets say more leeway. As long as people don't know it IC'ly. Changing it for a few details shouldn't be a problem. They should evolve as a person through RP. Just remember that if you ever get the thought again. Cause you shouldn't rewrite everything so he can be McAwesome Sauce.

I get what you're saying, this is just a one time thing. Haven't really gone into....well, any detail really in threads about backstory, mostly cause there isn't much to speak of lol. Advice is appreciated.

[member="Meanken"] - There are no rules against changing your characters - they're your characters. Backstories are, ultimately, non-essential in the grand scheme of things since it's the actual roleplays that matter. Of course, if your character has a lot of history - be it on other boards or even in games such as TOR - you are of course more than welcome to include it in your biography, given that it fits our timeline. Maybe you shouldn't include stuff like the main storyline for you character from TOR, as an example, but you could potentially include any roleplaying you've done in the game with other players.

Again, long as there's nothing game-breaking 'bout it, it should be fine. :)

I think of my backstory as this:

One giant fabricated lie that I don't know about yet, and thus if I tell someone my story, it's probably going to be a lie made up on the spot. I can change it whenever I want, because I was simply wrong before.

Appearance changes, I'm sure, can be retconned as a mistake in writing or something. Not too difficult to push. You should be fine.
