A Refreshing Trip to Theed

Kailani had heard about the beauty of Naboo, both from others she'd met in her travels and from records she has come across. It was without question one of the places in the galaxy she wanted to see for herself. If it is as nice as she's been told, she might even stick around for a while.

After arriving in the city of Theed, she left the spaceport, rented a speeder, and went on her own little tour of the city. She really enjoyed how much the city struck a balance between development and nature. Parks were so numerous that it almost looked to her as if the city itself was nestled into an existing forest. Upon making it to the palace, she looked in awe at it for a moment.

She could barely imagine how amazing the view must be from it's upper towers. Finally deciding she'd seen enough of the city, she decided to head back down to the spaceport, but she wasn't going back to her ship, she remembered the waterfalls, and wanted to have a 'closer look' at them. Once arriving down at the waterfall, she moved to sit by the river below for a bit, letting the mist of the waterfall wash over her. Next she stood up and removed her robes, revealing that she came prepared with a more suitable skin-tight garment underneath, and took a graceful leap into the river. She enjoyed swimming around for a while, not having a care in the world. To her, it would have been nicer if it was salt water, but she wasn't about to complain. This was certainly a place she would happily come back to in the future.

Kha'ro strolled leisurely. It was a very pleasant atmosphere there on Naboo. Sadly, the Jedi Knight had little time to enjoy the scenery. He had been on a mission recently with some others and the pilot of his group had... met an untimely end. Kha'ro had volunteered to inform his family. They were on Naboo for more relaxing purposes. Enjoying the scenery and having a great time. This was a very cruel time to have to be informed of such a tragedy... but it had to be done.

Kha'ro left the mourning family, suppressing his emotions. He had become quite used to this routine by now. Since becoming a Knight he had been embarking on more serious missions - most of which ended up leading to at least one casualty. The gunner of the squad was undergoing therapy, having had a serious panic attack and developed a minor PTSD after the hectic mission. The most experienced of the bunch, the engineer - Mika, had been fine, going off his own way. And so had Kha'ro.

After that depressing but common task, Kha'ro had to wash his mind of all that negativity. Naboo was a beautiful place and Kha'ro had seen a particularly nice waterfall earlier. He returned and smiled slightly. The way the droplets of water scattered as the stream crashed down, forcefully yet with a lot of control. Kha'ro saw it similarly to the ongoing stream of the force. He sat at the side and watched. It looked like some creature was swimming... or, perhaps a Dolphinian. Yes, that was for sure. Kha'ro waved when he figured they'd see him, "Hi... nice day today, isn't it? I imagine you're having a great time." A tinge of regret was in his voice. He could have definitely given more emotional support to the family but... it had become so routine he barely even thought to do so. Conflicted but cheering up, Kha'ro spoke again, "Naboo's a beautiful place, huh?"

Kailani really was having a blast, the whole planet was beautiful, at least as far as she had seen so far, the city included. As for the rivers, sure it was no ocean, but waterfalls were their own sort of 'cool' and the water looked very clean, almost appearing like flowing glass as far as how easy it was to see right down to the riverbed. The current was pretty gentle down here as the river slowly flowed away from the base of the waterfall. As Kailani swam up and down the river, at first she was just slowly stretching her limbs a bit, but soon she was really kicking her tail and started picking up speed. She was gliding through the water like a grey torpedo, and then she began to leap and dive, twisting and flipping in the air as she seemed to frolic near the surface of the river while taking care to avoid the shallow parts of the river.

Soon she passed near where a man was standing near the waterfall, though she continued to play until she heard him speak. She swam closer to where he was and gave a nod at what he said. "Yes, I would have to agree, on both accounts. I can't remember the last time I visited a place half as stunningly beautiful as this planet. I would have loved to go swimming further down river into the deeper, underground parts of the river system, but from what I've read on the subject, I'd likely end up as something's food if I tried that. My name is Kailani by the way, what brings you to this fine city if you don't mind me asking?" She asked with curiosity showing in her voice. From looking at him, seeing the robes and lightsaber pair, she guessed he was likely some sort of Jedi, and as she'd never met one before, this certainly grabbed her interest.

Kha'ro listened to what she had to say. The place really was beautiful. Although he nodded at her as she spoke about going deeper into the river. Beauty was one thing - safety was something completely different. He looked aside for a moment as she asked her question, "Well... just some Jedi business. Nothing interesting, if that's what your asking. Though I do intend to stay and sight-see a little now. The planet really does have a lot of beauty to it."

He looked down into the water. A shadow seemed to be below. Or... a silhouette. Kha'ro frowned as he looked closer. It had a panicked feeling to it. Kha'ro frowned, "Get out of the water. Something's swimming up and I think it's being chased by a predator." He kneeled down as he looked closer. A huge splash would be created as a fish-like creature shot out of the water and landed on the side. It was obviously unable to breathe. Kha'ro approached closer, "Ah, kark."

The jedi sighed as he tried pushing the fish creature back into the water. It was pretty large and would take a decent amount of effort. Instead, Kha'ro extended his arm as he gently lifted the creature using the force and lowered it into the water. At first it would flail in the air but - with the use of the force - it's mind would be calmed and thoughts stilled. Once in the water it would be still for a moment then swim back down, "Huh. It's uncommon for them to swim so high. Animals act oddly when something is odd or different. Perhaps something is up." Kha'ro shrugged, not really wanting to pursue the idea but mentioning it anyways.

Being more focused her conversation with Kha'ro, Kailani hadn't noticed that something was swimming upstream until as she was about to speak, Kha'ro warned her. She quickly sank into the river and pointed herself downstream, sending out a pulse of echolocation clicks to see what was coming in better detail. Indeed it appeared that a smaller fish, yet still larger than her, was frantically trying to flee from an even larger fish. Not wanting any part of all that, she gave a few firm kicks with her tail and quickly got up to speed swimming toward the side of the river. Suddenly she erupted from the side of the river, mid leap twisting her body so that she landed on her side and tucked in her tail in order to roll a bit as she landed and lessen the impact with the grass. Luckily she was also able to land in some grass, which helped to prevent her skin from taking much damage in the landing.

For a moment, she laid in the grass, a little stunned, but soon she would get to her feet. She would have helped Kha'ro get the fish back into the water, but with the help of the Force, he had it done by the time she was heading his way. "Well, I was about to say that I guess even Jedi have to do things that are far less than exciting, but I suppose excitement found you anyway, or maybe I should say, us. Thanks for the warning, I might not have noticed till it was too late to get out." She paused and looked back at the river for a moment. "So you think there might be something more to this than just a big fish being chased by an even bigger fish? Do you suggest we investigate it further, and if so, how?"

Kha'ro shrugged, "I don't exactly carry a waterbreather everywhere I go, and it'd be, as you said, fairly dangerous for you to go alone. Plus, we can't exactly be sure about anything. It could have just been normal, or it could not have been. You have a sort of echolocation, right? Perhaps you can try and find out if anything's up without getting too close." Kha'ro looked to the river. It could perhaps work. And Kha'ro couldn't exactly do much himself.

"I could try and use the force to enhance my sight but... I'm not exactly a master, so I couldn't effectively see if it was too far. The water doesn't exactly help either. It's up to you, but I definitely can't help much at the moment." He stood up and shook his robe about, drying it a bit as it had been splashed when the fish came out. Throwing it back on, he would peer down into the water again. Obviously, no results would come of this. The Jedi sighed, "Yeah... I can't do much here. So what do you say? Want to look into this?"
