Damian kept both his hands behind his back, a new calming technique to fight back his proclivities to fidget with his hands. Being anxious isn’t an issue I’ve been told, just something all people are inclined to be under specific stresses in life. Damian fought back the urge to scoff at his own thought, if there were hundred percent certainty that no adverse effects occur, he would have had a surgeon cut off the anxiety inducing part of his brain a long time ago.

As he approached the Senate conference room he kept up a neutral expression, eyes focused and steady. Maybe he would schedule an appointment with a therapist in the near future, Maybe. He nodded along as several Representatives and Delegates welcomed Damian, they had been briefed that their planetary system had been selected for this new legislation for a Hyperlane. Their eagerness is quite telling. A bit obvious, but there was a literal fortune to be made whenever a new trade lane was to be introduced.

“Welcome all, I hope the new Senate Hall on Fondor has been a delightful experience.” Damian began as he readied himself, “-As you can fathom such a drastic measure to move the Alliance Capital from the Core was no small feat.” He then had a large holomap appear, detailing the new Trade Lane.

“My hopes are that once we can get this legislation passed through the Senate we can quickly begin the next steps to establish Trade Stations along critical hyperlane junctions. . .as a Member of the Subcommittee of Galactic Infrastructure you won’t need worry for any data-slate work headaches. I’ve already begun the necessary budgetary allocation to begin the very moment this legislation passes.” Damian explained, his sleepless nights and overused recaf machine could attest to Damian’s commitment. Commitment to never having a goodnight’s rest, or fixing my sleep schedule. . . focus Damian. Focus.

“Now, all there is left is to encourage the rest of the Senate Assembly to agree, a job which I’m sure you all can help me accomplish.” Damian spoke, he wasn’t exactly the epitome of charisma, so he needed to create a sizable momentum to carry this legislation forward. "If you have any questions or requests to ask of me, please do so, I will make myself available to you all."

Senator of Cato Neimoidia

The Neimoidian entered into the Alliance General Ministry Canton, bringing along two Trade Federation Envoys to advise him from a legal and economic perspective during the new senate conference and inform him if he should back the proposal or sabotage it for the greater interest of the Executive Board.

Monaray benefited significantly from the expert guidance he received, which provided him with a distinct advantage in maneuvering through the complexities of the contemporary political environment following the ascension of the new Chancellor, Alicio Organa. Organa, who held multiple prestigious titles including Chancellor, King of Alderaan, and representative in the chamber, was poised to continue the policies established by his predecessor.

This continuity implied an increase in financial allocations directed towards refugee assistance and civilian development initiatives, a direction that did not align with the preferences of his sponsors in the Trade Federation.

They were more inclined towards advocating for regulatory reductions and pursuing additional trade agreements with neutral systems. Nevertheless, he paid close attention as Damian Du Couteau Damian Du Couteau presented the proposal and invited questions from the members in attendance.

"There is a collective enthusiasm to support the Galactic Alliance during this tumultuous period; however, it is crucial to consider the broader ramifications of this proposal you intend to bring to the Senate Floor. The establishment of a new hyperspace route presents both advantages and disadvantages for the Alliance as a whole." Dod explained his points through a series of hand gestures, accompanied by a measured gaze directed at the envoys present alongside him.

The Trade Lobby, comprising the Trade Federation and the InterGalactic Banking Clan, expressed their support for the Alliance; however, this endorsement was contingent upon the Alliance's willingness to address the wider implications that the establishment of a hyperspace route would pose for inter-planetary trade.

"If our adversaries succeed in infiltrating this lane, they would gain immediate access to numerous critical systems that were previously isolated from direct interference. This situation would render these systems susceptible to the schemes of Sith Navigators and Prospectors affiliated with the Dark Empire which would disrupt commercial activites and slow our freighters to a standstill, which benefits no one within the Alliance. How do you intend to stop this from happening?" He questioned with a firm glance.

The new halls were splendid despite not having twenty-five thousand years of history behind them. Or perhaps they were even more so because they'd been freed from that history and tradition built upon the most fought over planet in galactic history. Despite this, Chi still felt a slight nostalgic pang of loss upon entering the new building with her assistant Ji-Ji and his droid body. It felt like she had lived the best years of her youth working as a Representative and assistant to the Rendili Senator in those hallowed hall on Coruscant.

Still, despite the change in venue and the progress of time, Chi found herself falling into the rhythms and movements of the Ministry Canton as easily as she'd moved through them in her younger days in the Senate Hall. She had settled into the booth set aside for the CIG Representative, intentionally leaving the space dim so that only the occupancy light showed. And listened through the opening overture and the first of replies. Her moment to intercede came early, and she took it as Monaray Dod finished voicing his concerns.

"The honored Monaray Dod raises a valid point," Chi began as she stood to be heard. Glancing down, she adjusted a tablet that she didn't need, but subtly under-lit her face, allowing her to be better seen. A little bit of pageantry for her reintroduction to the Senate. "While I'm sure the Esteemed Senator for Teta has considered the need to defend the trade lanes and move military supplies along them in his budgetary allocation, I would suggest a change in the lane's proposed endpoint. Rather than Taloran and its spars tribal populations, I would propose the adjacent system Yesmireen. It has a thriving industrial population capable of providing the Alliance with access to Beskar and Neuranium, as well as their weapons exports."

Time to bring it in. "This would lead to a bolstering of the new lane, with a strong trade hub on either end, encouraging commerce down the length of the Royal Trade Lane. Not simply between Fondor and Denon, but towards the reaches of the Alliance that need the outlet the most, those that will be relied upon, and drawn on should an invasion again threaten the Capital." Finished, Chi gave a small nod, and deactivated the datapad again as she sat back. Taking refuge in the dim light of the Corporate Interests Guild booth with Ji-Ji holding place at her shoulder.

“Rest assured these security concerns have been taken into consideration,” Damian responded. His hand gently ran across a chair and he pulled it out so he could take a seat. His eyes met the Representative of Cato Neimoidia, the young Du Couteau heir was well aware of the Trade Federation’s influence and it was something to embrace.

“I am neither an Admiral of the Defense Force, nor Director of the SIA, but my recommendations may see to any security increase along this Trade Lane or any other,” Or a decrease should the need ever arise. Damian intended to play an interesting game, while he was never an outright Corporatist he found himself becoming one under the circumstances. He turned his attention over to Representative Chuchi, her reasoning to change one of the end-points of the Trade Route was sound. But it would require more sleepless nights and heavy data-slate work. Damian kept his neutral expression as he held back the instinct to sigh inwards at the thought of more work.

“I’ve marked it down and when this Legislation appears the noted suggestion will be added,” Damian responded, with a curt nod of approval. As it stood he was content with the response, and with the obvious problem of security Damian could only expect yet another Defense Spending Bill in the near future. And why didn’t I begin the meeting sitting down? Damian hadn’t realized the exhaustion piling on, but the young Du Couteau heir could see the finish line.

“Senator Dod, I do not wish to sound flippant about your security concerns, the Alliance has wars on both the West and East as we all know. So with the implementation of this new hyperlane the fleet’s logistics will increase and allow more patrols. This in turn will allow us to set our eyes on perhaps our third most important border, the Southern border.” Damian explained, he zoomed out the holomap on the screen to help make his point.

“-The Expansion Region is nearly completely under the purview of the Alliance and the Mid Rim will be within arms reach soon. I have no doubt in our ultimate victory over the Imperials, Sith and Mandalorians alike, so preparations must be made for the future.” Damian had read much of his father’s notes on the matter of Alliance expansion, the SILK Trade Route Act in particular was the example he used to assist himself. The Senate was rather more aligned with the Corpratists at the time, so it had a much easier time passing, but Damian intended to help bring about change with the party. Credits must flow, the old motto, now we just need to direct the flow.

“The Confederacy of Independent Systems chose to whither alone, the Sith have risen and fallen more times than I can count and the Imperials have always fallen into factionalism. Market research will say that the Alliance may ebb and flow, but it trends upwards and forward. I simply wish to encourage new markets and grow the economy.” Damian added, his resolve for the future had hardened in the past months, and this was the result.
