First Reply A Siren's Habitat; The Dangerous Waters

OoC: open to any lightsworn or water dwelling species

Nearly an hour ago she had been under the supervision of one of the lightsworn on the lands of Atrisia. That was until the amphibious sentient sensed the large body of water - the lake nearby. It was only instinct she followed as she dashed down the creek and dived gracefully into the waters, barely dodging the stun blasters thrown her direction. To Nouqai, she wasn't really escaping, planning to return to the lightsworn sometime soon. No doubt with repercusions, but this bit of freedom in her habitat was worth it. She just wanted her much needed time in the waters where she rightfully belonged.

It was nostalgia, swimming with the currents in the depths it had been far too long, finally using her gills to breathe than having to keep her skin constantly moist to respire. There were the monstrous aquatic beasts in the waters, but none she minded, agilily avoiding them and deterring them away with her sonic screams if necessary.

His boat rocked gently on the lake, his lure bobbing a little more in the water. But Kornon was little if not patient, so he sat and waited a while longer. A catch of a different sort came his way. A little ball of dark, glittering deep under the lake's surface, a gup freed from an aquarium and back into open water.

A tragic creature, cursed by every circumstance. But today he had only kindness.

He leaned over the side of the small fishing boat and beckoned her up. Most Barabels' smiles were off-putting to others, but his was well-worn, a genuine invitation to the little Sithspawn to come and join him.

The boat's motor rumbled sending ripples and vibrations through the water which the receptors on her skin picked up. Curious, she approached, moving from its depths upwards. The slight iridescent scales on her skin shimmered, reflecting the early afternoon light on the surface. A bait bobbed above, but this fisherman would not be hooking many fish when she was in the vicinity.

A sentient creature peered from the side of the boat, green and reptilian, the features warped by the moving water she was under. Nouqai broke the water's surface, her many tentacles floating around her, odd that he didn't seem too surprised. Was he one of the lightsworn?

"Hello, Sir." She greeted simply. "There are more fish on the other end. You might have better luck there." Kornon Kornon

A gentle chuckle.
"So there are," he said. "It seems this one has caught something else. Best stay close. Those ones will assume this one has caught you."

He went to the back of the boat, turned on the engine, let it glide gently forward through the water. A closer look from Falentra would most certainly confirm her suspicions -- he wore old Jedi robes, simplified for today, and kept a lightsaber at his side, as well as a long hunting knife, currently sheathed.

"Where are you from, child? Do the waters here compare?" The other seat on the boat was open for her, but he would not force her from the water.

During her time in the water, she had passed many beasts in the waters, some bigger than the boat. "There is always a bigger fish," She remarked. As it moved, Nouqai climbed up the edge of the boat, leaning on the gunwale, not yet boarding. She preferred to be in the water, and it was easier to hop off if needed. Now getting a better look at the man, he was definitely a jedi with the way he dressed and the saber on his belt.

"I'm not a child," she corrected simply. Her age might be hard to discern from her unique physiology, but the term had often been used patronisingly and condescendingly that left a bad taste. She took a moment to ponder his question, her last home was on Alvaria with the Marrs, then before that on Coruscant with the Jedi. And before that, her past and entrance of life was still much a mystery to her.

None of those were the answer, the sentient pointed a clawed index finger up towards the skies. "I came from the starship that hovers above Atrisia. There are no water bodies there unfortunately." That boring place had been her home for months now.

He smiled. "Ah, this one would call that one Ashina a child. It is more a comment on this one's age than your own."

He was going to ask a follow up question, but from her response he could tell she knew not of her home -- in which case, calling it a 'home' might not be accurate in the first place. Instead he shared.

"Home has little good water -- the seas steam, it rains without end. These ones live in caverns below the surface. For a time it was strange to even see the sun. Now this one knows its many lights, the good waters, the soaring cities, bright skies. The only place not paradise is the void, and a starship is as close as most get." He shrugged. "It is better here, even confined. Better here not confined, too."
