A structure for our rank hierarchy.

Here's my crack at a rank hierarchy for this faction. This is based on all the previous work done by [member="Aram Kalast"] and [member="Natasi Fortan"].

Red text = Available to Elite/Master level characters
White text = Available to Adept/Knight level characters
Plain text = No level requirement
* = Leader of that branch. Occupied by 1 character only.

MILITARY - NAVY/ARMY AND STORMTROOPER CORPS

Supreme Commander*
Grand Admiral/Grand General
Fleet Admiral/High General
Admiral/General
Commodore/Brigadier
Captain/Colonel
Lieutenant Commander/Major
Lieutenant/Captain
Ensign/Private

THE KNIGHTS OF REN

The High Lord of Ren*
The Masters of Ren
The Knights of Ren
The Acolytes of Ren

INTELLIGENCE

MInister of Intelligence*
Master Agent
Special Agent
Agent

GOVERNMENT

Imperial Advisor*
Grand Moff
Moff
Prefect

Explanation: As you can see I pared down a couple of the ranks somewhat, in order to (in my opinion) make things a little more streamlined. You'll notice that I extended the ranks available to Trainees in the military up to Major for the Army/Stormtroopers and Lieutenant Commander for the Navy. This is because it will allow new players some wiggle room to have more to do when they first join, rather than sitting around on a ship or in the barracks with nothing to command, waiting to be barked orders by a superior officer. With these ranks, Trainees are able to command modest forces of about a battalion-sized unit, a small ship or a squadron of fighters for the Army and Navy respectively. You can still be a hardass edgelord and start your character off as an Ensign or Private and grind your way up, but for all the high-time preference individuals out there, you're allowed a small amount of gibsmedats in the beginning.

Now, the Government. The explanations of these ranks are fairly simple. A Prefect controls a swath of territory on any given planet, but not the whole planet. A Moff governs an entire planet. A Grand Moff governs a group of planets, or an "oversector". The Imperial Advisor oversees all the Mofffs and Grand Moffs and reports directly to the Supreme Leader. I'm not sure what else to call him really. Maybe Grand Vizier, after our old friend Sate Pestage?

As always, I welcome comments and criticism.

Overall I like it.
I like giving a touch of freedom while still maintaining our ranking advancement structure.

The only part I'm not sure on is the Government. We are a militaristic background and I feel if we use Moff we're really impacting on the GE's sub sector. Although we could look at some other names, saying that if people want Moff I'm happy to use it. I like the groupings of it however and want to push that part forward no matter what we choose.

[member="Aram Kalast"] [member="Natasi Fortan"] yeah, I'm a little unsatisfied with the Government ranks themselves. I'm not concerned with the fact that we're converging on the GE's game though. We're an Imperial faction too, and we're appealing to the same members they are. So this is our game too. We want Imperials to choose our faction, not theirs.

Natasi, I like the naming system you provided. My only concern is that it might take some time to acquire enough planets to fill all those positions like Prefect and Moff. But maybe it could work, since government characters are somewhat rare.

But what's the difference between a system and a sector?

Touche, and you have a point.

Moff it is.

System is a dedicated System as in the 'Corellian System'. Sector is a group of systems placed together to make a larger influence area.

Okay, added the additional Government ranks, changed a name here and there. I think we did it every one!

Explanation:
The First Order is a play for rank Faction.
By joining this faction you have already been issued the first level of available ranks. You can choose any of these you wish for your desired branch/character concept. This is to ensure that even at starting level you are not dependant on higher ranks having to be involved in your story progression.

By completing threads, participating in events and being a general help to the faction you can be issued with promotions as time progresses. Sometimes a senior may bump you up from your chosen rank, other times leadership may promote you to the next level of expertise and therefor open up the possibility to choose from the NEXT ALLOTMENT of ranks for your chosen field.

The only point where you may not be able to chose a rank is if that particular title is a leadership title and already in service. These ranks are issued by Forum Management and as such can only be earned through positive attitudes and supportive play.

If any questions arise from this please PM myself or your other Faction Administrators or Moderators.

Looks pretty sweet, [member="Aram Kalast"].

My only criticism, and it is indeed very minor, is that I think we can do without the Prefect rank. I just don't see much differentiation between a Prefect and a Moff. Prefect just seems like the Diet Coke of Moff. He controls a bunch of planets, but not quite as many as a Moff does. I'm in favor of keeping it simple; if you control one planet you're a Governor, if you control more than one you're a Moff.

If you guys want to keep Prefect though, I could be persuaded.

He has a point. We may keep the rank in reserve until such a time as we have more political characters than planets? But it might be unnecessarily complicated at this early stage.

If you feel prefect is not necessary I'm up for removing it. It will make the Government tree the easier of the areas to govern (lol) in terms of ranks.
