A Tale from the Scraplands

Objective: Canon Item
Carlo Nords Heavy Mandalorian Blasters
Scenario: Save the Town
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The odd silence kept still in the air...it was quiet, to quiet. The moment was about to right true yet...in Settlement Joa, there was never truly a thing about being silent except...when it was time for Lunch and Mara Lee is cooking in the diner.

The clock struck eleven o`clock as everyone working in the Settlement rushed into the building as there was hoots and hollaring. Mara Lee was an older lady though she was one of the best cooks and every month in the diner, she made a big pot of a mixture of mushroom and nuna soup. It was a delicacy and every person wanted a sip, including Haon Hafey as he waited outside even to have the first sip of the afternoon. He was a huge fan of anything tasting of mushrooms and loved great soups...so mixing the two was a blissful reunion made above. However as he kept drinking the soup, having his seat even right at the counter top, one of the men burst in and was heaving a bit, holding up a flier as he tried to speak.

"T-The town of Koao...It...it..."

Haon got up rather slowly as he took the paper, unfolding it as he read the part of it very carefully and read every single sentence out loud.

"To all men available nearby,

We have been attacked by a small group of bandits in the last forty-eight hours, we will not be able to hold them off much longer. We request assistance in any way possible. Please send any available men with blasters to help, we cannot pay...

Koao."
Slowly, he looked up at the diner as people went back to sipping their soups as Haon passed around the flier as he sat back down onto his own seat, sipping his soup. After a small amount of time passed, one of the kids went by and tugged on his chain that held onto the smaller datapad. It was a bit annoying though that was how the kids got his attention which usually consisted of giving ideas for credits or when they wanted something from him really bad. Though this time, the kids seemed to surprise him.

"Aren't you a blasterfighter?"

"Hehe...no, you mean a soldier? No longer one son, that was a lo-"

"But we see you practice with that big iron on your hip."

"I have to keep my eagle eye working, that is wh-"

"So you won't help them?"

There was a pause between him and the kids. Haon has been known to be slightly cruel and to generally look after himself yet...he had a soft spot when it comes to answering their call. However he generally has to keep himself from being tripped up to often, turning away as he tugged the chain again, looking right at him as he held up a first right at Haons face as it was small.

"You don't help them people, I will punch you!"

Some of the older people chuckled around Haon at the display as his face went white for a moment before slowly chuckling a bit and finally just sighing a bit, rubbing the kids hair. Sliding off the bar stool, he went on over to some of his workers as he made a quick speech and made it very clear where he was going before someone stops him or he changes his own mind, taking out his small comb for his mustache and carefully got it straightened out.

"You heard the flier, I am going. Some people need all the help they can get on this world and lately, we been pretty lacking. I mean look around here, how often do you think we get off our rears for anyone anymore? Regardless, I am going on over to Koao so you all behave yourselves and keep the workshop running. Else I will let me enforcer nearby punch you straight in the nose!"

He pointed over to the kid as the table chuckled with Haon included as he leaned back up, pulling out the DL-56 as he checked the power supply before holstering it and counting what he had on him. Sighing, he would have to wait next month to finish all that delicious soup he loved as he exited the diner and headed for the mono rail train system that was above the Scraplands which would take a while to get there, to board and to leave with, not knowing what the future will hold.

The sound of the train moving across the rails was an unusual feeling. It was lead by a magnetic rail and as such, bumps were almost non-existent. The automated system came up as it spoke of travel times, it would take an additional two hours to reach Town Koao and while he was on the train, might as well experience if their dining improved. In retrospect, it did but now the drinks were barely in stock. Haon Hafey ate a small nerf steak as he cut into it, making sure it was well done before proceeding. The automated system would call up again, any of the men wishing to help Town Koao to go to train one one four. Taking his cue, he slowly got up and paid for the meal before heading towards the train car in question. It took a few minutes, seeing as it was near the back of the train yet as he arrived, two men awaited him as they were Rodians with their hold out blaster pistols already out. The train made a weird horn sound as it started to slow down.

"You should not have even answered the call. Boss Ryan does not interlopers messing with his projects."

"And what projects would that be?"

"The legend of Carlo Nord...but none to be of your concern."

The Rodians aimed as Haon Hafey raised an eyebrow, slightly confused yet the train soon entered a tunnel as it got dark to which a spray of blaster bolts erupted in the darkness, barely eluminating the people around them and then the train headed out of the tunnel to which only Haon Hafey remained standing with his DL-56 out as the two Rodians laid on the ground. Giving a bit of a smirk, he slowly holstered his blaster as he turned to run straight into a Trandoshan as he picked up Hafey with one hand and threw him across the train. Smashing into a light crate, he gave an audible groan as he started to get up, trying to pull out his blaster before it got knocked out of his hand, hit again as he flew into the next cart as some ladies screamed as it was the "Dancers" train car as Haon made a small nod to the ladies as he slowly got up.

"M-may want to lea-AGRH!"

The Trandoshan showed back up as he grabbed Haon Hafey by the throat, pushing him straight into the wall. Struggling, he gave a hard kick with his left leg, not doing anything as he kept looking till he found a curling iron to which he grabbed and pressed against the Trandoshans face, near his eye as he screamed before letting go, holding his face. Thinking quick, he grabbed also a towel of theirs and drapped over its head, proceeding to give a haymaker to its midsection before being punched straight into one of the mirrors in the room, shattering it. Throwing the towel off its head, the Trandoshan gave a loud hiss noise before grabbing one of the chairs and slamming it onto the dresser, Haon Hafey slipping off in time as he pushed right at the groin as a notable GONG sound be heard to which the Trandoshan chuckled.

"The one time it does not work..."

Trying again, he got the GONG again before being picked up and held over the Trandoshans head, thrown across the room once more as he smashed into yet another dressers mirror, destroying it as a human female rushed into the other cart as others followed suit, some watching from the corner as he rubbed his forehead, looking to the side as he saw something. The Trandoshan broke part of the chair, having a stake like object as he tried to stab down right onto Haon Hafey as he twisted out of the way, smashing into the dresser as Haon stabbed downwards onto the Trandoshans neck with a Zenji Needle, over and over again as he focused on the spine as the Trandoshan threw off Haon Hafey once again though still gripping the needle. Bleeding and slightly slower, the Trandoshan gave that hiss again and charged at Hafey. Rolling away, he stabbed the Zenji Needle down the Trandoshans foot as it howled, falling back against the train door. Pushing the button to open it with emergency over ride, he then gripped the bars up top that hold the luggage and kicked him with both feet hard as he could as the Trandoshan flew out of the magnetic train to who knows where. Holding onto the bars, he hit the button again with his feet as it closed the door and fell to the ground, panting rather hard as he was exhausted, bruised and humiliated. Slowly getting up, he stretched his shoulders as he looked at the various women in the cart, most dressed differently than most dancers would imagine.

"Sorry about the cart mamn...he just did not have his ticket."

Smirking a bit, he slowly got up and went into the other train car to get his DL-56, holstering it as he felt a tap on his shoulder as he looked over before being pulled back into the train car as he tried to speak as it was a Togarian pulling him back though the feeling was slightly less than anger..

"I s-suppose we can't work a deal for...new dressers?"

There was soft rumble as people started to leave the train, not many but it was enough as three human men watched as the passengers disembarked. It was a strange sight, the three even having old style S-Swoop bikes laying around behind them, three only. The three were also armed with blaster pistols as they scanned the crowd for a Trandoshan. Not seeing him, the one of the left piped up as he looked at the others.

"Hey, where is Tipka? He should been out here by now."

"Yeah...something ain't right. Think someone got them?"

The train would start moving as it screeched for a moment before moving far off as the three watched the train leave, unaware that someone was behind it as a sound of a harmonica would slowly play out. It was confusing at first yet the three would slowly look forward as Haon Hafey stood there, holding it up with his left hand as he played a rather old desert tune as his right hand gripped his bag very loosely. Playing the song over and over again as it was just four seconds long. The three would stare at Haon as he slowly put it down, looking over the swoops as the one in the middle spoke to Haon.

"Tipka?"

"Trandoshan...yeah, he had to jump off....got a Swoop for me?"

"Hehe...looks we are short one swoop."

Haon looked over at them as he shook his head slowly, letting the harmonica slowly hang around his neck as he spoke very quietly though loud enough to let them hear him.

"No...you brought two to many."

The people then slowly stared down as Haon carefully gripped something in the contents of the bag as the wind blew by them, toxic at this height thought they held their breath, conversing it. Finally the one on the right pulled out his blaster pistol, las he tried to fire though Haon was faster, pulling out his DL-56 from the bag as he fired three times in quick succession as the two fell over as the third stepped back before firing, Haon falling backwards from being hit in the side then finally, the third finally fell. The wind blew again as Haon laid there, breathing a bit hoarse as he coughed for a moment, slowly sitting up as he touched his side as he felt a large sting yet he noticed also it was a glance shot. He was very glad for it could have been much worse. Getting up rather slowly, he grabbed his bag and very slowly, approached one of the men to get a key for the swoop. He then proceeded to drive off with it, heading towards the town of Koao as he muttered to himself, remembering the women in the cart.

"When you think you get a reward...you end up with a harmonica and having to put together furniture. Me and my dumb luck."

"My you took a burn right there haven't you?"

"Can you patch it?"

"Of course though it do no good to move to much for right now."

Haon sat on a makeshift bed, breathing in as a patch was being applied to his wound, the swoop being left outside as the Ithorian slowly pushed a bacta patch onto the spot after scraping a bit of the dead flesh off. The ride to town was mainly uneventful though he had an idea of what he was facing as it was given from the swoops themselves. Slightly high tech for even this region, they were wanting something from the town and it was probably a good idea to start asking questions now.

"Why do you need men with blasters for?"

"That gang....the Gang of Mira. Leader is Jinks Mira, some odd male Zabrak with a deadly aim....the land is prime of salvage though we never let it go. Now he wants the land all for himself...and possibly the treasure on it."

"Treasure?"

"Yes Treasure...legend has it that an old bounty hunter was laid to rest here with all his belongings...though the location was never found. Granted that was over four thousand years ago...no one knows the grave now."

Haon gave a small nod as he was finished being patched up, slowly getting up as he was given a set of pills with very specific instructions.

"In case they come earlier...take them before combat to stall the bleeding. Don't take them after two days, your wound be good by then."

"Thanks...what I owe you?"

"Nothing...you're here to help, all that matters to someone like me."

Haon thought it over and gave a small nod as he walked out of the small makeshift metal office as he looked over the entire town as it was filled with metal buildings, some being made of duracrete. Taking notice to the pub, he would slowly walk over and enter the building as there was no music strangely, it was a quiet pub. People had cigars, cigs and all forms of smoking material littering the place. If he known better, it would been a vapor bar on top of being a pub though a small squeak was near the bar as it was some strange spindly species he could not remember with four arms.

"Afternoon stranger...drink, smoke or room?"

"Room...maybe a drink. Rum?"

"Just rail today, room is 20 credits with rum being 3 credits a shot."

Fishing out the credits from his pocket, he would slide them over as the drink was rather quickly placed on the bar. Taking it, he slowly sipped his shot as he blinked a few times before realizing how strong it was, placing it down as he only downed half of it. The bartender gave a grin as he gave a glass of water as Haon quickly downed within a few seconds before coughing a bit more.

"I make the rail rum...strong for someone like you?"

"Yes...remind me to use it for fuel. My room ACK key please?"

"Yes...do you wish for some company?"

Haon was a bit confused for a moment at that sentence as he looked to the side to notice a wide assortment of females...various species in rather...revealing outfits. However his mind was a bit shut for now on that kind of subject, shaking his head as he got up to his room, holding the bag tightly with his left hand. Getting up towards the room, he would lock the door and turn on a nearby desk lamp as he took out a set of blueprints to work on for the night. He did not know what was going to be planned though he intended to at least work before being summoned from the mayor or whoever controls the town.

He would sleep throughout the night as he barely worked on the blueprint he designed. It was based on some Walker though the inspiration was dead in its tracks, having fell asleep on the drawing desk. Morning light would soon bask Haons face as he groaned softly, looking up as a sharp rap was on the door. It repeated several times as he groaned loudly, walking over towards the door.

"Hold on...damn it hold on, I am coming!"

Upon opening the door, he would be greeted by a large Trandoshan as he had a unique scar right on his chin now though it was fresh...and he knew who it was.

"Oh shit."

Quite suddenly, Haon was thrown through a wall nearby as a woman screamed, running out of the room as classical music played in the background. The Trandoshan gave a small limp as Haon pulled out the DL-56 and fired once as it hit the Trandoshan square in the chest though it barely phased him. Firing again, he realized it was then out of power as no blaster bolt shot out...the first one was reduced! Putting the DL-56 down, he got up as he charged at the Trandoshan and punched him, only to feel his hand land only with a THUMP as he groaned out loudly, it felt like hitting a tree with his bare hand. The Trandoshan picked him up and threw him again against one of the dressers nearby, completely shattering it. Haon gave a long groan as he grabbed the nearest thing and hit him with an clothing iron as it was still on, the Trandoshan hissing as he stumbled back, his arm burnt with his scales now smelling of rotten eggs. Giving a hard kick, the Trandoshan fell out through the window as a loud growl was heard before giving a loud thump. Breathing quickly, he grabbed his DL-56 and quickly reloaded it as he aimed down the window as he was gone, the backside of the bar. Quickly running down the stairs, the girls screamed as the Trandoshan once again appeared through the front, trying to get to Haon as he fired several times at the Trandoshan. After about six shots, the Trandoshan finally fell over with Haon walking over and firing twice into the skull itself to be sure as a person walked in, another human as he looked down.

"That's Tipka! You killed Tipka!"

"Twice now...this time I am sure. Who are you?"

"The Sheriff...come with me, we have much to talk on."
