The odd silence kept still in the air...it was quiet, to quiet. The moment was about to right true yet...in Settlement Joa, there was never truly a thing about being silent except...when it was time for Lunch and Mara Lee is cooking in the diner.
The clock struck eleven o`clock as everyone working in the Settlement rushed into the building as there was hoots and hollaring. Mara Lee was an older lady though she was one of the best cooks and every month in the diner, she made a big pot of a mixture of mushroom and nuna soup. It was a delicacy and every person wanted a sip, including Haon Hafey as he waited outside even to have the first sip of the afternoon. He was a huge fan of anything tasting of mushrooms and loved great soups...so mixing the two was a blissful reunion made above. However as he kept drinking the soup, having his seat even right at the counter top, one of the men burst in and was heaving a bit, holding up a flier as he tried to speak.
"T-The town of Koao...It...it..."
Haon got up rather slowly as he took the paper, unfolding it as he read the part of it very carefully and read every single sentence out loud.
Slowly, he looked up at the diner as people went back to sipping their soups as Haon passed around the flier as he sat back down onto his own seat, sipping his soup. After a small amount of time passed, one of the kids went by and tugged on his chain that held onto the smaller datapad. It was a bit annoying though that was how the kids got his attention which usually consisted of giving ideas for credits or when they wanted something from him really bad. Though this time, the kids seemed to surprise him."To all men available nearby,
We have been attacked by a small group of bandits in the last forty-eight hours, we will not be able to hold them off much longer. We request assistance in any way possible. Please send any available men with blasters to help, we cannot pay...
Koao."
"Aren't you a blasterfighter?"
"Hehe...no, you mean a soldier? No longer one son, that was a lo-"
"But we see you practice with that big iron on your hip."
"I have to keep my eagle eye working, that is wh-"
"So you won't help them?"
There was a pause between him and the kids. Haon has been known to be slightly cruel and to generally look after himself yet...he had a soft spot when it comes to answering their call. However he generally has to keep himself from being tripped up to often, turning away as he tugged the chain again, looking right at him as he held up a first right at Haons face as it was small.
"You don't help them people, I will punch you!"
Some of the older people chuckled around Haon at the display as his face went white for a moment before slowly chuckling a bit and finally just sighing a bit, rubbing the kids hair. Sliding off the bar stool, he went on over to some of his workers as he made a quick speech and made it very clear where he was going before someone stops him or he changes his own mind, taking out his small comb for his mustache and carefully got it straightened out.
"You heard the flier, I am going. Some people need all the help they can get on this world and lately, we been pretty lacking. I mean look around here, how often do you think we get off our rears for anyone anymore? Regardless, I am going on over to Koao so you all behave yourselves and keep the workshop running. Else I will let me enforcer nearby punch you straight in the nose!"
He pointed over to the kid as the table chuckled with Haon included as he leaned back up, pulling out the DL-56 as he checked the power supply before holstering it and counting what he had on him. Sighing, he would have to wait next month to finish all that delicious soup he loved as he exited the diner and headed for the mono rail train system that was above the Scraplands which would take a while to get there, to board and to leave with, not knowing what the future will hold.
