A Time For Healing

Yuroic walked through the Temple on Kashyyyk, he had wanted to travel with a new world with Asaraa, somewhere peaceful and full of gentle animals that they could interact with and explore the Force, while offering some travelling experience for Asaraa. He knew that she would have loved to go exploring the galaxy. However, Yuroic had crucial business that required him to remain on Kashyyyk for the short while. He swore, their next lesson be offworld.

He told Asaraa to meet him outside the Temple, it was at least a lesson where they would explore more of Kashyyyk. Today's lesson was one on Force Healing, it was a skill that Yuroic found himself relying on after battles more and more. He found the skill really important and it was part of the wider universe around them. Though the skill was heavily reliant on the Light Side of the Force. He was interested in seeing how Asaraa copes with the challenges.

The Padawan in question had decided that if they weren't going to go off planet then she was going to make the most of the time that they did have on the jungle planet. It wasn't every day that you managed to get a day off to relax on a warm planet...or that's what she'd thought when she woke up that morning, but it looks like [member="Yuroic Xeraic"] had other plans for her. A message left on her comm to meet him outside the front of the Jedi temple.

So there she was, as requested, stretched out under the canopy just taking a moment to enjoy the warm feeling of the sun heating the air around her. The Togruta had her eyes closed, her mind stretched out in the force, seeing how far she could push it, how far away she could sense as a familiar presence closed with her. "Morning, what wild and wacky adventures do you have planned for today."

Yuroic smiled to his Padawan. She seemed bright and ready for the morning's adventure, Yuroic walked around and gestured to a small trail left by some game. "This trail will lead us to our destination. There is an area, quiet, peaceful. It will perfect for today's lesson, which is about healing and being able to feel connected to the natural Force that lives among us. I don't know how well your Force connection is to other living beings but this will be a test." Yuroic smiled to her again.

"Healing requires a person to understand the body of the being they are attempting to heal, so there needs to be as much research into biology of species as much as being connected to the Force." Yuroic explained as they wandered through the forest, "also the healing is only speeding the natural healing processes. At more advanced stages, you can heal very serious injuries, even mortal injuries. However, that would take years of practise, so don't expect to be able to do much beyond minor cuts or bruises."

They arrived at the location, a waterfall cascades down with a small island in the middle, there a large tree has grown. "There is where we shall train."

Asaraa slipped her hands behind her back, clasping them together in the small of her back as she followed the Jedi Knight out into the jungle. She could sense the jungle around them, the trees and animals filling her senses as she let a happy smile wreathe her face. Connecting with the jungle, with the life around them? Well that didn’t sound like the healing lessons she’d had to endure before which filled her with a spark of hope. It almost sounded like he was going to teach her sensing, and that was something she knew she was good at, one of her best skills.

“Well, I mean it’s not off planet location or anything but,” the young woman padded past Yuroic, her bare toes just dipping into the cool lake water. “It’s pretty good as far as places out here go. Almost peaceful,” she gave him a bright grin, “Well, as peaceful as you can get on a planet full of Wookies, trees and various critters and creatures out there that would hunt us if they had a chance.”

Yuroic nodded his head as Asaraa made her comments about the planet they were residing in. "Aye, but the wildlife isn't so bad if you know how to communicate with them. They share some interesting tales once you do." Yuroic spent his early days on Kashyyyk using Beast Control so he could pass safely through the planet without fear of attacks or such. It was important, also meant that the Padawans who got lost were also slightly safer if they hadn't the chance to learn Beast Control themselves. "I haven't asked, did you learn Beast Control? That could be done during our lesson as well if you wish?"

He settled down on the ground, waiting for Asaraa to join him on the ground. "Anyway, first we shall learn more about healing, how to mend injuries that we suffer or that others suffer. To begin with, you must understand how the Force works in healing. Not just understand the process but to feel it work. So at first we must sense the life around us and understand how the Force influences. Close your eyes and reach out with the Force." Yuroic smiled as he remembered his own lesson in healing. It was during his exile and it was not a lesson he learnt easily, came to him when he was injured greatly and needed to recuperate.

Oh, she'd heard of this before, the ability if not to control animals then at least the ability for them to communicate with them, sense the emotions and feelings that were running through them. To common with nature, the togruta had communed with nature in her own way, hunting and seeking the beasts that lived in the forests around Silver's Rest. The young woman never needed to actually kill anything, the temple had more than enough food for even the most ravenous carnivore. However, it was a way for her to keep her instincts sharp and her skills at tracking honed. This offer though, to learn the new skill, "Well, I'm not gonna turn it down if you want to teach."

The Padawan grinned, the bright smile lighting up her face as she crossed over to stand next to @Yuroic Xeraic sinking down to the ground next to him, her legs folded over one another. "Ok...that doesn't sound too bad." She took a deep breath, closing her eyes as she let the air flow out of her lungs reaching out to the familiar energy that surrounded them, letting her mind run along the pathways of energy that surrounded them. "The energy around us? It's everywhere here, that's one of the nicest things about the planet."

Yuroic smiled to her, she was keen to learn just as he was in her position. He mentally noted to ensure that he includes adding their schedule today, Beast Control. It was a skill that Yuroic found useful and it was pleasant to walk around and commune with the many animals, though not sentient, they still had thoughts of their own and wants. However, for now Yuroic listened to what Asaraa described the Force that surrounded them. He smiled, life was abundant on Kashyyyk so was the Force, flowing through them.

"Yes, the Force influences everyone and everything. It gently guides us, you can draw upon it. When healing a person or animal, you must use the Force to influence their body. Force Healing is just increasing the speed at which one heals, remember this, it is why we cannot use it to save someone from death. To try to save someone from death is a dangerous path to tread." Yuroic cautioned as he watched her carefully. "Now, I am going to challenge you to heal an injury, remember to focus on the person's body and through the Force influence the body to heal them." Yuroic commented.

He removed a small dagger then slid the blade against his forearm, opening a wound but not one that would be fatal or risk too much blood lost. Instead it was a practical test for Asaraa to try and heal him. The act would alarm her but his mind poured a sense of calm, showing her that he knew what he was doing. "Now, heal this wound Asaraa." His voice calm but authoritative

For a moment the young Togruta could only stare at Yuroic in shock, disbelief clearly painted across her face. He had slashed open his hand like it was nothing, the tangy smell of the blood reaching the Padawan’s sensitive nose as she wrinkled her face up, her blue eyes flicking up to stare at him carefully. “You…that’s a lot of faith there. You know if I get this wrong you’re gonna have a great little scar there to remember me by.”

Taking a deep breath the Padawan tried to push away the doubt creeping up on her as she reached out to grasp Yuroic’s arm between her red skinned hands, closing her arms as she reached out to the force. The young woman could feel the warm ocean of energy surrounding her, touching it with her mind as she pulled the energy into her body, letting the energy flow through her to flow out of her hands, wrapping the golden strings of energy around Yuroic’s arm. The young woman sent the energy down into the wound, feeling the tensing muscles beneath his skin as she let her mind reach out to explore the wound, suffusing it with the force as she pouring the energy into his body encouraging his body’s healing.

Yuroic laughed deeply, scars were never an issue for him. His body was littered with them as much as it was littered with tattoos that his former self thought were stylish and cool. He watched as Asaraa moved slightly nervously to his wound. "Don't worry, won't be my only scar. I use to get all kinds of injuries when I was younger. Not the easiest of childhood when you are an orphan on Nar Shaddaa, but eventful." Yuroic had a dark past that he put to rest only a few years ago. He had allowed his past to control his behaviour it once impacted his relationship with Jairdain and kept him dangerously close to the Dark Side. Now he was calm and easy going as he use to pretend to be, which had always been difficult to fake.

Watching as the healing took place, Yuroic smiled warmly to Asaraa. "Now, I'm not going to make myself more injured for you. I'm not that much of a masochist, and I haven't harmed an animal for you to heal either. So what I do have here is an artificial torso for you to use. It reacts the same to Force Healing as a real being would so you can practice healing more serious cuts and injuries if you wish to. Good practice for when you need to heal yourself, and like I said, studying diagrams of several species' biology will help knowing what and where they have injured. I can give you a list of good holocrons and books to study from the Archives if you would like that."

Yuroic rose to his feet and from behind a tree trunk carried a fake torso that he had mentioned. The area was where Yuroic himself would come and train, away from the prying eyes of others. When they were on Voss and he was a Padawan, Yuroic always preferred training alone and away from others, too shy to be anyone's attention.

The padawan tilted her head to the side as she watched Yuroic cross the clearing, pulling out the hidden torso as she shook her head fondly. "You know, you take this whole preparedness thing to a whole new level don't you? don't tell me you've also stashed lunch, dinner, tents, torches and a surgical trauma team out here too?" There was a playful almost teasing smile on the young woman's lips as she watched her master, shaking her head as she pushed herself up to her feet, stretching as she ran a curious eye over the torso as she pulled her arms back down, crossing them over her chest as she nodded at the torso. "That's gotta be expensive to just stay lying out around here, does it react to normal healing techniques too? Or just the force? I might be useful to mix the two for the best results."

Reaching out to poke at the torso the Padawan gave the Jedi Knight a long look, "Do I really need to go do homework too on top of everything else?" There was a plaintive note in her voice mixed in with the teasing and laughing that was her normal go to. "Do all powers work like that? Knowing the basics of how they work help use them better? I've never actually thought to go back and look at the how, as long as it works that is."
