A ball on jutrand
Before the oroboros crisis

Astrid arrived to the ball In a limousine she had arrived fashionably late as the door opened she stepped out her limousine with elegance and grace as she walked down the run way her raven black hair straight as a little bit was over her shoulder. She wore just enough make up that it highlighted her faces natural beauty her emerald green eyes a contrast compared to the usual sith lords red sith eyes made her face pop and accentuated her looks as she walked through the crowd and into the ball itself.

As she walked inside she smiled as she greeted a couple of sith "ah darth helisk how goes the campaign" she said as the older human male smiled back at her "it goes well and if I fail my company goes to you" he smiled as he turned to his previous conversation she walked away and to the bar. Standing there Astrid didn't Have a care In the world as she stood there the lights of the bar shining on her face accentuating her complexion. She ordered a red wine and as she got it she sipped it looking for something she didn't know she needed until that moment something that would change potentially change her life a she sat there in her dark red dress.

It was a new feeling, having ascended to knight. Suffice it to say, the trials to achieve it, the struggles to overcome, going to war with oneself, as the body was informed that it would risk near permanent death.

Well.

Suffice it to say, he knew he deserved a drink.

Thus gazing out across to glimmering lights, red eyes could not help but wander across those assembled. There were still many of them who were his technical superiors, after all, the newly made Sith Knight was still subordinate to the already-established Sith Lords, indeed he would even be likely inferior to the already-established Sith Knights in attendance.

Yet, there was a fundamental difference between him, and them.

He was the newly graduated apprentice of Darth Ophidia Darth Ophidia , one of the most powerful Sith the galaxy had ever seen.

And the current power behind the throne, the duumvir in partnership with the Emperor.

Already did eyes find him.

The heir of the great Darth Marr.

He nursed the cool whiskey in his hands, offering smiles, raising his glass to those he knew, even those he did not know.

As high as they were.

He was ever higher.

There was another advantage in this, after all, such was the trend among the ladies of their Order, it was difficult for his eyes not to be drawn to what they wore... or much of the time what they did not wear. He was but a man, and though as an apprentice his successes though existent they had been middling...

Now catching their eyes.

Offering smiles.

Offering winks.

It seemed knighthood had granted him a certain... aura, which was difficult to deny.

His heart may have yet skipped a beat for Adeline Noctua Adeline Noctua , but she was a woman to be seen from afar, and despite all he had been through, directly talking to her remained a challenge even still.

She might have been his ambition.

But who could deny an unattached man his fun in the short term?

And as his eyes were drawn from long shapely legs, all the way up to a red dress that concealed both too much, and too little.

He found his target.

"And another two, one for myself, and the lady," Malum spoke to the barkeep, approaching where she stood, a woman vaguely familiar, and older, having heard her order, smiling lightly at the choice, as he finished his whiskey, feeling the amber liquid burn down his throat.

A little bit of liquid courage hurt no one.

As he breathed, gazing into emerald eyes.

"Darth Malum, of House Marr, at your service..." He introduced, reaching out slowly, taking her hand, and bringing her fingers to his lips, it was surprisingly soft, welcomingly warm, "...Might I have your name, my lady?"

Astrid looked at malum giving him a flirtatious smirk as he bought her another drink and kissed her hand. He was braver than most sith knight's even given who his master was "your all the rave darth malum all the female sith of your rank would love to be flirted by you in such a way" she said honestly. letting malum kiss her hand she appreciated the attention from a younger man but couldn't help but wonder what he hoped to gain by hitting on her. "My name is darth vord or Astrid which ever you prefer" she said as her leg grazed malums leg in a way to suggest she was interested in him.

Outwardly she would project the same physical appeal and danger she always did to scare off those who in her eyes where unworthy of her time as she sipped her wine. Pondering what he could want from her maybe it was the thrill of the chase she wouldn't know for sure. "Tell me darth malum hopefully you didn't figure barking up the tree of a sith lord would be as easy as buying me a drink and a kiss on my hand if you want my attention your gonna need to prove you deserve it" she said seductively just loud enough for malum to hear.

He raised a brow imperceptibly in the air, subtly and frankness made themselves manifest in the woman in front of him, both did she flirt, and did she lay her cards out on the table visibly and easily for him to see. For all he was used to this game, he could not call himself a master of it, nor even truly that experienced.

He would need to play this not cautiously.

For it was clear as she closed the distance between them, and grazed a leg with one of her own, she was not a woman to be cautious.

But to be bold when facing an opponent such as like this, may not be the right move either.

To be considering then, such would be his way.

"I would certainly hope not, Darth Vord... or Astrid..." To use their names implied a familiarity that they did not currently have, but... it was his objective that reach that level of familiarity after all, "I insist you call me Malum then," It had been somewhat a surprise that he had taken his own name for his Darth title, yet it felt so right.

And after all.

He was not yet worthy to take the title that would command his equality with his great and powerful ancestor... that commanded that he had surpassed him entirely.

He offered a smile, allowing her hand to return to her person, raising the empty whiskey glance, as he performatively gazed out to the crowd of hungry faces,
"I do so enjoy a challenge... Astrid... perhaps many out there would so enjoy my attentions..." He turned back to her, leaning forward with a glimmer in his eyes, "...However, I so do prefer a challenge, and it would seem my eyes have found you most beautiful of all gathered here... so how might I prove that I am... deserving?~"

Astrid sat there she internally applauded malums want to not take the easy road and go for easier prey he was handsome though she gave him that. He was also either brave or a fool or both she wasn't sure but as she sat there in her dress she gave him a smile when he stated his name she knew it unwise to give a stranger her real name right off the bat especially at parties like this. But she got a good read from malum or he was just presenting one she supposed either way how this night ended would be up to him largely not her.

if he played his cards right she might leave with him but that wasn't here nor there "well malum I would say challenge accepted sweep me off my feet or die trying" she said giving him a wink then a serious stareas she stood up. Finishing the last sip of her wine she set down the empty glass "flattery will only get you so far malum prove that your worthy of my attention" she said standing with elegance and beauty awaiting what he had planned putting the ball squirly in malums hands.

As they said, get your foot in the door, and all else would follow. Of course, though he had some accomplishments in this specific field of battle, confidence could hardly be said to be the measure of it. Especially, when though he was certainly used to this sort of attention, as proven by those gazing towards him, with a certain ravenousness in their eyes, it had only been renewed in the last few days.

And even disregarding that.

Being used to the attention did not necessarily mean he knew how to exploit it.

He had certainly in the past, dug deep and greedily, yet that did not mean he was a master of this art.

"Well you certainly are a woman to die for," He answered, raising his newly brought wine chalice, and bringing it to his lips, the burgundy red holding the colour of blood, and tasting, thankfully, ever sweeter, staring at the Dathomirian owlishly, his lips made as red as his eyes, as he sipped.

Her wink was encouraging.

He smirked behind the chalice as she gave her challenge, draining the last of the liquid courage, allowing the glass to reside atop table, as his coarse hands, took hers, leading her out to the dance floor. Those who stood opposite them, quick to make away at the Triumvir's Apprentice's chosen, choosing to regard them with curiosity, jealousy... perhaps even scorn?

The lights flashed down upon them, as they took position, Malum's other hand, boldly taking position, wrapping themselves around Astrid's waist, ruby eyes challenging her tourmalines, as the music shifted.

And he led her around the dance floor.

"...And how does my Lady Pentoghast prefer I prove my worthiness?" Malum questioned with a smirk that melted and broke hearts in equal measure.

Astrid could feel the eyes on malum and she could sense the resentment towards her she paid their gazes no mind as she stood next to malum. "I am but are you a man worthy of my time malum" she said seductively while standing there. Not sure malum was even worth the trouble of playing with but since there where no other candidates at the moment she would entertain the night.

As malum led the witch to the dance floor and took the lead she followed suite he was trying to woo her like some sycophant or common woman. Not like the sith lord and nightsister she was he didn't know that though even then she would hold it against him. "Isn't it the man's job to come up with a way to do so if I had to tell you how to impress Me I wouldn't be impressed" she said still dancing.

He raised an eyebrow, she certainly held a certain excess of spunk. Enough that it may have turned away most other men, at the easy realisation that she was not going to be an easy tall to add to their score.

Thankfully for them all, Malum was not like most other men.

And he did so enjoy a challenge.

So she did not wish to be wooed?

How about seduced?

"I do not think any woman nor man has ever thought I was not... if they were able to think at all," Malum spoke, a fire in his eyes, as he drew his face closer to hers, hot husky breath fluttering across her features.

She was hardly the most beautiful woman he had met in his life.

But she was a beautiful woman.

And they were so easily his weakness.

"...The song ends soon... perhaps we might have a more... private dance back upon my private quarters? I promise, one of the finest aged wines you shall ever have in your life." He whispered, leaning down, his lips inches from her earlobe, their skin almost colliding, before he pulled away.

He was never to play catch up.

Let her chase him.
