The Marzanna entered the Neshtab system cloaked and with its power systems in whisper mode, inside the cockpit was dimly lit and non-essential systems were on standby. This mission was being done as a favour to Dominique Vexx , apparently there was a pair of alliance ministers that needed to be removed and returned to her on Denon, she did not give her the specifics of why, nor did Mairéad ask as it wasn't her place. The Mandalorian Capodecina sat in her uniform and stared at the readouts. The Alliance and the Empire were shooting at each other, this pick up would be in a war zone, just for added convenience.

"I'm taking us in to low orbit, we will drop on, pick up the target and I will have zanna pick us up once we signal. All being well we should be in and out before the alarm is raised." she took one last look at Kardek Alpha with her own eyes before clipping her helmet on. Mais brown hair was braied to allow fitting the helmet better and as the unit clipped on, the faint blue glow of her body conforming shield lit up as part of her protection.

There was just time for a few more pre-jump checks and discussions, but once Kardek signalled he was ready, Mairéad would lead them to the cargo bay and quickly vent all the atmosphere to allow the bay doors to be opened wide. Mairéad smiled and looked out at the curvature of the planet which was visible from their position nearly a hundred kilometres up. "It's going to take a few minutes for us to get down, I have plotted a descent into your HUD so we don't get split up, but watch out for flak and other aerial units. Our target is the office block to the north east of the city. The pair should be in the penthouse, sounds easy enough doesn't it?" She gave a little laugh, no plan made contact with the enemy after all.

She looked at the timer and prepared herself for the jump. "Oh, we are going to lose comms for a few seconds as we pass through the ionosphere, that's normal. OK, 3...2...1...go" Mai ran and jumped out of her ship, her repulsors giving her a little kick onto the right path but then she started to plummet. Only though at this height, with no air resistance or wind noise, you could be forgiven for thinking you were floating. Mairead's only point of reference was the rapidly retreating shape of her ship above her so she paused to reflect, looking at the local star setting over the curved horizon was a rare and beautiful image and it made Mairéad happy to be alive.

She was also quite glad to be out alone with just Kardek and Alpha, it might give them a moment to bury a few hatchets and see exactly where the other one was. Mairéad was growing to like the guy for all his irritating qualities, and they did seem to work well together. She wondered when, and if she might let him in on the little secret she had regards his actions on all hallows eve.

Kardek had engaged in small talk when prompted, but otherwise had been rather quiet for the flight. Due to nature of his working relationship with Vexx, he had been made aware of the Senators needs when related to this specific mission rather quickly. It would be his first mission with just him and Mai, but he didn't have much to worry about as he knew Mai to be a capable and intelligent warrior. It was more the social interaction between the two of them that he was a bit curious about...

He nodded as she updated him on the mission status. The rogue was wearing his full suit of Mandalorian armor, a rather rare occurrence for the man due to its constant reminder of his previous life. But it felt good to be in it again. His helmet rested on top of his lap, but he took it and pulled it into place at the same time that Mai did.

After pre-jump checks, both him and Alpha stood beside Mai as she opened the hatch. They both held onto handles by the exit. As Mai shared more, Kardek nodded signaling that he understood. This was definitely not his first rodeo, but he understood that it was protocol to go over such details before a drop. He shrugged and nodded a bit at her joking remark about how easy it sounded, "Always does." He joked back.

Kardek and Alpha both ran and jumped out into space on cue, quickly beginning their decent through the void. It was a breathtaking view, one that reminded Kardek how much he enjoyed doing this kind of thing. He focused on his decent, keeping track of his trajectory and making minor adjustments as needed.

"Never gets old, does it?" He said over coms, referring to the thrill of skydiving. Now, the battle was something to be extra cautious of. He could see Alliance and Empire star fighters beginning to draw closer as they exchanged blaster fire. Hopefully they would be able to fly right on by without getting noticed or caught in the crossfire. As an extra precaution, Kardek and Alpha both activated their camouflage, which helped to disguise not only their signature but also their visibility to others.

"Never gets old, does it?"

<You're not wrong there!"> she replied into the comm as the pair achieved terminal velocity. <I am told the feeling is better than sex!> she laughed back, possibly revealing a little more about herself than she had intended. The ionosphere was fast approaching and they would have 30 seconds without comms, the perfect timing. <Maybe you would be the better person to judge? Seemed like you had a good time on my office cctv> Her voice had absolutely no malice in it and by this point their relationship had become almost like playful siblings, so she hoped he trusted her Intent and discretion, but 30 seconds alone with nothing but his thoughts and his weaponry was always a risk.

The radio buzzed out as it went dead and Mairéad focused on her route, rolling left and right to keep herself on track, there was low cloud over the target but her dreamsight highlighted the target clearly and a series of rectangles appeared on her HUD that provided she kept herself withing them, would lead to a safe landing. A few of the other Mandalorians had commented on how much tech she had installed for drop assistance, but why not? Every piece of tech helped and Cynthia had made sure she practiced with it turned off as well so she wasn't overly reliant. The 30 seconds passed very quickly, and she was eager to hear Kardek's response to what she had revealed moments before, they were now less than two minutes from the ground at their current speed so she checked the calibration on her repulsors, the later they could leave breaking, the better for a succesful infiltration.

From this height they could now see the battlefield unfolding and a starfighter buzzed only a few dozen metres from them being chased by another. The ground was marked with craters and burning debris and every so often large blasts erupted from the ground as a reminder to the dangerous conditions they were extraction from.

Kardek chuckled, keeping his eyes focuses on the sensors and data in front of him, making sure to stay on course. "Sounds like someone needs to get better at sex!" He jested regarding whoever had made that comment to Mai. They were now approaching the ionosphere and were about to loose communication…

Mai said:

His eyes widened as he registered what she was referring to. "How the kriff…" He muttered to himself as he thought back to that time with Vexx in her office. He had carefully covered every camera, but he had apparently missed one. How… unfortunate.

His gaze drifted over to where Mai was suppose to be, signaled by a marker on his visor. He didn't like letting her have any ammunition she could use against him, but he hoped that their little bit of competition previously would not bleed across the line. He turned back to his route, focused avoiding rogue shrapnel that flashed quickly past him, remnants of a starfighter as they entered into the war zone.

Finally communications were reestablished and Kardek smirked as he responded, "If you wanted to watch, you could have just asked." He dodged a fighter as it shot past him, making his way down through the danger zone quickly. As the ground approached rapidly, he focused in on the landing zone… a building top. At the last moment, he flipped his body around and ignited his jet pack on full blast, slowing him down quickly until he set foot on the roof. Alpha landed almost immediately after him, a bit of a thud accompanying his landing as he was a bit heavier. The two of them almost instinctively reached out their closed fists and pounded them together in a sign of bromance before Kardek turned towards Mai, bringing a finger up and pointing at her with an edge of soberness to it,

"Delete that, please." He said, his tone very serious, which was a shift from his previous statement.

Mairéad laughed as thankfully Kardek Alpha misunderstood what she meant about herself and waited for his response. He seemed to take it in good humour until they landed and his tone changed, pointing at her and giving her no impression that he was messing around. She smirked, forgetting she was in her helmet and turned to him.

"Consider it done Kardek. I've had my fun now and it does no favours to me either if it gets out. How can i sell Reveries as a discrete place to do business if I can't even keep the privacy of my own people." she gave a friendly laugh before pulling her pistol off of her waist and looking to the door.

"Come on then you apparently irresistable dog, lets go get these VIPs and get the kark out of here." The gravity of their situation was punctuated by an airburst mortar that exploded overhead showering them with shrapnel that sparked of of Mairéads's helmet. Luck shot or someone knew they were on this roof.

Mairéad ran for the door and tried it, it was locked, but only thin steel, so with her crushgaunts she was able to wrench the locking mechanism out of the frame and push the door open. Inside was dark, the power was out leaving only the emergency circuits running. Mai used her dreamsights night vision rather than lighting themselves up with a torch and trusted Kardie to do the same. She looked at Alpha and from what she remembered of the model, they could see in the dark anyway. <Oh, nice landing by the way, very cool, makes me wish I had a brother too.> she said quietly through the comm as she thought whether she would even have a chance off meeting her own brother that she had recently discovered once existed.

they made their way down the first level and the main corridor of the building opened in front of them. The building was build around a central chasm that descended a hundred floors down to the plaza below and she could see soldiers moving around in the gloom on the bottom levels. The penthouses containing their quarry was on this level, hopefully they were the only ones.

Mai said:

Kardek felt a bit of relief, trusting that Mai would honor her word. The truth was that he normally would not take something like this so seriously, but because of the nature of who he was with… the Senator of Denon… and the important working relationship and front that the two of them had built together for the sake of the Family and Denon… no matter how unlikely that it was that the footage could get leaked, the destruction that such a leak could unleash through his work, and the Senators, could be nothing short of catastrophic.

He suddenly felt a little bad at how intense he had come off, feeling the need to share some of his situation with Mai so she would better understand his reaction. He reached over and pulled against her arm as she went to turn away,

"Mai… sorry for coming off so strong. It's just… It's critical that I protect my working relationship with…" He tilted his head, an expression that implied that she knew who he was referring to.

He let go of her arm and unsheathed both blasters, feeling better about the situation.

Mai said:

"Come on then you apparently irresistible dog, let's go get these VIPs and get the kark out of here."

He chucked, falling back to his normal mischievous ways, "Was it fun to watch? I bet you watched the whole thing. You dirty Mando you."

Alpha looked at Kardek, rather puzzled at why Mai was being referred to as being dirty. She did not appear to be any less kept than Kardek. No visible dirt was apparent. Very strange.

Right then the mortar exploded above their heads, causing Kardek and Alpha to duck a bit and raise an arm to shield themselves as the shrapnel showered down on them, hitting them both but luckily their armor was more than enough to shield them from any real damage.

"Chit." Kardek muttered as they both ran behind Mai towards the door.

"I don't like this roof." Alpha spoke loudly in a much clearer and articulate manner than he had on previous occasions. With the flush cash flow and resources made available to Kardek after becoming Made and forming the Hellmakers, Dedata had made significant progress and upgrades to the droids processes. It would happen in phases, but there was a good chance that the dependent neural connection could soon be removed all together. They would still be able to communicate with each other through a synchronized connection, but it would no longer be a mandatory lifeline like it had been.

They followed Mai inside after she had smashed her way in, Kardek turning on his night vision as well and alpha able to see due to his build in technology.

Mai said:

Alpha immediately responded by whirring pleasantly and letting go of his heavy repeater cannon with one hand and holding it up in the fist formation observed previously, "Thank you! I've been working on what I understand to be a fist bump. If you want to, I can do the bumping of fists with you after this mission." His vocal transmission came though their headsets, no audible sound was actually emitted from the droid.

Kardek chuckled softly at his companions remark. "You’re family, Mai." He said matter-of-factly in response to her comment about wishing she had a brother. In a way, she felt like a sister to him. Not entirely of coarse… otherwise the rather sexual comments earlier would have been downright awkward.

As they arrived at the chasm, Kardek put his hand on the railing and carefully looked over the ledge. There were a lot of them down there. "What would be Zanna's ETA once signaled?" He was processing how much time they would have for a clean extraction, as well as factoring in a time buffer in the unfortunate event that things did go sideways. Never plan for the best outcome… plan for the worst.

Alpha approached and began scanning the floor they were on, "There are four rooms occupied on this level. All four are next to each other…" He updated the hud information for both Mai and Kardek, which now showed markers at each of the four rooms, "It is most likely that our targets are inside one of the middle rooms. Those have the most occupants. I would believe that the other rooms are occupied by a security detail."

Kardek turned towards Mai, "Is the ministers security detail hostile or friendly?" That would drastically affect how this was going to go down.

The two of them continued on down stairs and onto the next level.

"Was it fun to watch? I bet you watched the whole thing. You dirty Mando you."

She laughed loud enough that they didn't need the comm. "That, my friend, is between me, my holoprojector and a bottle of Rioja"

She smiled at Alpha, she kind of liked his almost youthlike demeanor, it was different and went well with his intimidating frame and heavy weaponry.

"She is in low support position, running dark, I can have her here in about two minutes once I send the signal." the ship was fast and agile and from its position in the cloud cover it would be here quire rapidly, they just needed to find a useful exfil point and then escape with their valuable cargo in safe transit. Alpha scanned the rooms and provided some very useful insights into their mission. Vexx had handed them the room reservation number and the scans confirmed this information quickly.

"The security aren't hostile, but they don't know we are coming and might not want to be left behind, it's better they don't know we are here in all honesty." If things heated up, the guards would likely consider the two unannounced mandalorians hostile, but who was to tell. "The Senator was very clear that noone down here must know she is extracting these people." Mai knew what that might entail but she would really rather not murder some guys whose only crime was doing their job trying to keep the targets alive. It was a few dozen metres round the perimeter of the courtyard abyss, but the trio made the journey quickly. There was a stattaco of gunfire from below, worryingly it appeared to be getting closer to them. The enemy soldiers were clearly making their way up.

"This should be the door, you ready?" Mairéad said quietly then looked at the other two and counted down for the door breach.

"That, my friend, is between me, my holoprojector and a bottle of Rioja"

Kardek laughed, a bit caught off guard by the remark. It greatly amused him.

So it sounded as though no one, including the security detail, was suppose to be aware of the extraction. Kardek knew what that meant as well, and it did not bode well for any security detail that might happen to be inside the room with the ministers. Still, they needed to focus on the mission. And they needed to do it right.

As Mai counted down for the breech, Kardek readied his blasters, setting the energy cells to stun mode so as to preserve any life within the room, in case they accidentally hit one of the ministers. He communicated quickly to Alpha neurally, instructing him to turn and guard the entrance once they took control of the room. Alpha nodded quietly in confirmation.

As the door swung open, Kardek stepped inside, both blasters already firing quickly as four security detail desperately attempted to raise their blasters at the intruders. Two of them were struck instantly, falling limply to the ground as the other two pushed Alliance ministers behind them. Within a few seconds all the firing had stopped. Mai and Kardek had made quick work of the security detail, and the ministers were frozen in place, trembling at how quickly everything had transpired and assuming the worst. Alpha turned and readied his heavy repeater cannon out the entrance of the room, prepared for anyone who might try to enter.

Kardek walked over to the fallen security detail as Mai addressed their HVT's, standing over them and making sure they were all out for the count. He flipped his blasters back to lethal, preparing to do a very unpleasant deed once the ministers had vacated the room.

Capturing the room was over exceptionally quickly, the security deal were to protect against over excited protesters and people throwing rocks, not a pair of heavily armed mandalorians and an assassin droid. Kardek took care of the downed security while Mai found the HVT's, kicking the wooden door off the hinges. Two of the ministers cradled each other in terror, in their mind they were about to die. "It's your lucky day, you have sixty seconds to grab what you can carry and then we are going. Anything you can't bring you won't get back." the minister's looked at Mairéad wide eyed in disbelief. "...go on then.." she prompted to encourage them, they didn't have time to dawdle, every minute they wasted, the enemy soldiers had more chance to get up the building and cut them off.

The minister's finally got on with the task, grabbing holopads and memory cards as quickly as they could, Mairéad stood in the doorway and looked at Kardek. She knew what he needed to do as they left, and the two security would likely be killed once the soldiers got this high anyway, but still, executing innocent people sucked. She spoke quietly so only her comm, and by extension Kardek would hear her. <<You good there? I can if you need me too?>> it was an offering to offload a burden by a friend, not a comment on his nerve. But who knew how he might take it.

"We're ready, where are we going?" one of the minister's interrupted Mai's train of thought and she nodded. "Boys, lets go I've got the package." she said to the others. "There is a fire escape at the end of the hall, we get to that, take the minister's airborne, one each, and into Marzanna, job done." Her ship was already on route and they had little time to spare, so unless Kardek did wish for Mairéad to do the cleanup task, she would lead the ministers and Alpha out onto the room. Their foes were close and blaster from a group of enemies on the other side of the plaza a few floors down raked their position, a few shots nearly hitting Alpha. "You want to RSVP?" she said to the heavily armed bot with a grin inside her helmet?
