A Warden needs a Shield (Krest)

The training grounds of the Yavin temple appeared much more beautiful to Minna than the ones on Alderaan. It seemed brighter in some aspects, although both had their beauty undoubtedly. Unfortunately though, she was not here to stare at the pretty view, instead she was here to learn from [member="Krest"], her Master and friend. The subject this time was the technique of conjuring a Barrier with the Force, which would no doubt be extremely useful if the order was to be fighting for the Mandalorians anytime soon. So there Minna sat meditating like she always did before a lesson, waiting for her master to arrive.

She felt like a padawan again.

Krest took his time.to get there. Clearly, he felt he had the time to enjoy the scenery, but eventually he did show, both hands clasped behind his back. "Ah! There you are. Are you ready to begin then?" He was armed only with his saber, and dressed in simple clothing. White shirt, and some slacks. He wasn't going to need much more.

Minna's eyes opened, greeting Krest with a smile. She stood up and gave a respectful nod. "Of course." The Yodaling moved towards her master. "Happy, I am, to be learning from you again." It was true, there was no doubt Krest was a great, and powerful, teacher. Having him as a master filled Minna with confidence about her future. In fact, she aimed to be like him one day.

Krest smirked. In truth the Zabrak felt more like a student in comparison to the Yodaling, if only because of the fact she had always been much more wise and patient then him. But, today was for training.

With a raised hand, the Zabrak would form his own barrier, a purple aura. It's size was about the shape of a small buckler. Of course, he could make it larger or smaller of a whim, but the point was it was there.

"Now, barriers. They're basically just pure force preventing anything from getting through. Some are invisible, others visible."

[member="Krest"]

Minna examined the small barrier closely, intrigued by it's composition of the force. Her right hand flicked, and a tiny pebble flew into the barrier. Unsurprisingly, the pebble bounced off with no effect on the shield. She gave a nod, the sort one would give when rather impressed by something. "I see. Often intrigued me, barriers have. But the process of creating one has always eluded me." The Yodaling looked up at her master, awaiting his continuation.

"Similar to lifting things. Remember, to lift something you imagine lifting it aye? But this time, you're not going to lift something. Feel the force around you, and halt it in place. Prevent even the air from passing through. You ready?"

Minna nodded, a sharp, confident nod. Raising her palm forwards, she concentrated on the force flowing through her. She asked it to flow in front of her, and the force answered by doing so. Once she had gathered enough energy in front of her, she froze it in place as instructed. A green aura formed infront of her, circular and nearly as big as her (which wasn't that big to be honest). It took some work, but she managed to hold the barrier there firmly, expecting Krest to test it with some form of attack, perhaps a projectile.

[member="Minna"]

The Zabrak went a step farther then a projectile. His fingers sparked with emerald, and he would unleash a blast of electronic judgement, aiming not to hit the barrier, but Minna herself. The blast would only.sap her strength, if her shield didn't hold at least.

The attack was unexpected to say the least. Minna raise her barrier up slightly, the need for movement breaking her concentration slightly. Krest's lightning crackled over the top of the rising shield, landing a few sparks on the Yodaling, until she raised it enough to withhold the attack. The barrier held until the blast was over, at which it dissipated immediately. Minna's arm lowered and she exhaled, recovering from the slight shock she had received. "Not perfect..." She admitted, looking up at the Zabrak. "But impressed, I am, that I actually held it."

[member="Minna"]

Krest nodded a bit, grinning. Barrier wasn't that hard of an ability for a knight to learn, but in truth that isn't wat he wanted to teach her.

"Have you heard of tutaminus?" The ability not only to deflect, but store force energy and reflect it. It could even be used to catch a saber.

[member="Krest"]

"Heard of it, yes. But studied it closely, I have not." Minna answered, insinuating that she was about to be taught about it. She tried to remember any of the specific details about it, but her memory seemed to slip. "Helpful, I presume it is, hmm?" The Yodaling raised an eyebrow, awaiting to see whether she truly was going to be taught the ability or not.

"I've always viewed it as an advanced form of barrier. A trick to learning it, however, is to stick your hand in a fire and reflect the heat. Now, that helps with barriers, but.. If you were to try to absorb the heat energy and covert ot, well. You're getting closer to tutaminus yes?"

The Zabrak set his hands behind his back, nodding to [member="Minna"] . The thing about training with him was to give the foundations to learn, and let them take it from there. Now he had given her the tools. The rest was up to her.

[member="Krest"]

Sometimes the Zabrak amazed her. It wasn't even something complicated, but now that she thought about it, Barrier did have aspects in common with Tutaminus. "Perfect sense, that makes..." She said, pondering on it for a few more moments. "A brilliant teacher, you are indeed. Practice it, I shall." The Yodaling gave a small bow, nothing too formal, as it was more in thanks than as a sign of formality. With this knowledge, Minna was confident she would be able to develop both the abilities in the future.

[member="Minna"]

A slight laugh escaped the Zabrak as he nodded to his little friend. "I wouldn't say brilliant, I'm no better than any other. I just think of things differently." He'd nod to the girl once before holding his hands up, the lightning sparking once again.

"Wish to continue with the barrier though?"

"Great, that would be." Minna nodded, raising both her palms this time and concentrating on forming another barrier. This time it was better, and a shield began to form from in front of her and expand to almost double the size of her first attempt. She held the barrier firmly, preparing herself for the Lightning attack.

[member="Minna"]

There was a faint grin before he unleashed another blast, this time combining a push into it. It would go to not only zap, but blow back it's target. The blast danced from his fingers, his clawed gauntlet glowing vividly as he did so. The alchemised mental was truly a beautiful thing when it was being used as such. He would not hold back in the slightest, going to over power the shield in order to test her limits, and set a standard she would have to beat in the future.

The barrier held it's strength as Minna's face contorted into one of struggle and concentration. Slowly the barrier would appear to be fading, as each crackle of lightning strained her abilities. She counted the seconds that passed, and reached eight when he barrier imploded and dissipated. No longer protected, the Yodaling went flying backwards from the attack, but managing to roll into a standing position a few meters away. After taking a few moments to collect herself, she returned to her master, giving a small smile. "A record, I must beat, hmm?"

[member="Minna"]

Krest nodded, the grin still plastered on his face. "There are the kinds of barriers I can show you in the future, but you'll have to learn and master this own one first, and learn a couple other abilities. Lightning is a good example of a skill you will need." The lightning stopped as soon as the barrier went down, Krest's gauntlet still sparking a little.

[member="Krest"]

"Ah, lightning." Minna said, placing an index finger on her chin as she thought for a moment. "Yes, I suppose that will be helpful one day. Learn it sometime, I must." She nodded, allowing her finger to drop and her arms to fold infront of her, the gauntlet arm having to go on top so it didn't press against her other arm. "Anything else for today, is there?"

[member="Minna"]

"Nope, just keep on practicing. When you feel ready, I'll zap ya again." A small tilt of the red head, and the Zabrak was gone. The training was done, in his part, for the day, and all that was left was for her to practice. And he didn't want to be a distraction.
