Public A way of life (Jedi)

Location: Village of Ikorra, Thalia
Time: Early morning

Her movements were slow and steady, like the morning sun rising behind her. A careful step and her barefoot sank into the mud, bringing the waterline to just past her knee. The thick field of marsh oona that surrounded and towered above her gently swayed in the morning breeze. Her heterocramatic eyes scanning the surface of the water for movement. Another careful step and....a brilliant shade of iridescent purple flashed just beneath the surface before disappearing into the murky water. She froze, as did the other two teens on either side of her. Slowly they raised their shields made of bamboo poles in front of them. A few more cautious steps, even more flashes of purple darting away from them. Taking their bamboo staffs, they began to tap on their shields, sending vibrations into the water. A brilliant wave of purple broke near the surface before fleeing away from them towards the edge of the field. There was no hurry for the three girls as they slowly moved forward towards the edge of the field. The hollow thumps of staff striking shield kept pace with their steps. The wave of purple rose closer to the surface as the water got shallower, before colliding with two low wooden walls in the shape of a V. These walls funneled the wave into a large trap made of bamboo. Another girl, younger then the three teens, stood up and waved her arms. The three teens came to a stop, the drumming on their shields ceasing. Another trap full, that made four full traps of Violet marsh shrimp this morning. So far, not a bad start to the day.

Small calloused hands grabbed ahold of the bamboo trap that lay half submerged in the water. Centering herself, Eerie lifted the trap up out of the water, a trap that was almost as big as (and probably weighed as much as) herself. She sank a little into the mud as she lifted the trap onto an embankment that served as a road, where another teen was there to receive it. The process was repeated three more times before Eerie climbed out of the flooded field and onto the road. Mud speckled her clothes and covered her from knee down, water dampened her clothes from walking in the fields and hoisting traps. She didn't mind, however, this was something she had done since the time she could walk, and had done so every day since. Taking her bamboo staff, she slid it through the handles on two of the traps, balancing each one at either end. Placing the staff across her shoulders, she began walking down the road towards the village, the other teens in tow with the rest of the traps and gear.

Thalia was a farming village, plain and simple. Everything moved at a slower pace and normally followed the same routine. Wake up early, start work with the sun and sleep when it gets dark. Sure the jobs changed up, but it was normally pretty consistent from day to day. There were exceptions to the rule, however. Sometimes freighters landed that weren't from Arsenae, as exciting as that sounds, they were always here for the same as everyone else, agricultural goods. Although today was different, different as in the whispers of visitors arriving who weren't looking for what normally brought freighters to this quiet part of the galaxy. She heard tell that these visitors were force users, Jedi to be more precise. Eerie wasn't familiar with the workings of the Jedi, so she wasn't exactly sure what would bring them all the way out here. Maybe to find inner peace? To search for the unique kyber crystals that were recently discovered? They could possibly just be here to trade. Whatever the reason, Eerie was curious to see who these Jedi actually were.

The Temple of Ikora

It was a simpler way of life. And that pleased her immensely.

The inhabitants of Thalia are followers of the Arsenian goddess Ikona. The goddess of agriculture, animal husbandry and fertility. Fitting, given that Thalia is an agricultural planet. Almost completely. Ikona's temple sits on the edge of the capital city of Ikorra. It is a large building with a hollow interior and an earth worn floor. Villagers gather at the temple in the early morning and evening to mediate in a means to connect further with the planet and the life that surrounds the village. Most, wear no shoes at all.

Here. Inside the sacred halls of the earth. Saint Lauren sat with a priestess. Shem. A brown skinned woman with short dark hair and a warm morning smile. She wore the subtle leathers of her guild. Adorned with small metals of the earth and with white gloves decorated with colorful avian feathers. They sat on reed pillows on the floor of the temple. Awash in the quiet prayers of the morning and scented candles nearer the alter. Lauren was a guest of the planet today. And a mysterious one at that. But Shem was happy to sit and talk with her anyway. They were both women of faith and had much in common it seemed.

Saint Lauren however, was decorated in a fashion none had seen before. She wore an immersive black cloak that shimmered like deep ocean metal in the daylight. Vast and impenetrable. Even in the heat of the sun. A large mantle of lush black fur rolled about her shoulders and around her neck. Softer than the finest silks and untouched by even the smallest, gentle flaw. Her skin was pale white with short golden hair and a light speckling around her ears gave the tiniest hint of cybernetics. Disguised as a beautiful shimmering tattoo. She smelled wonderfully too. A strong wash of flowery mint.

Together these women sat. Leather gloves both. Perched on bended knee. One adorned with avian feathers. The other, embroidered in Tetan black gold. Different in so many ways. Alike, in so many more.

They sat. Smiling on colorful pillows. Sharing stories of miracles and of Gods. Saint Lauren asked of the Goddess Ikora. While Shem asked of the Goddess of the Force. A pleasant little meeting of the minds.

And perhaps?

The beginning of something much, much more. . .

With everything that’s been going on in the galaxy, it certainly didn’t hurt to take a little detour in the midst of the chaos. Coming to Thalia wasn’t Amelia’s original intention, but as one of her fellow Knights spoke of his padawan needed to craft his own lightsaber. Amelia reluctantly was convinced and she guided the corvette over to Thalia. Normally, Jedi didn’t travel in groups amongst themselves. For some reason, similar to the Rule of Two, Jedi typically only accompany fellow Knights or their Padawans. At least that was what Amelia had noticed.

The red head landed the ship at one of the clearings meant for landing within the heart of Ikorra. The brunette Knight with a trimmed beard smiled warmly.

”We will return shortly.” He was calm, easily approachable, and definitely had his way with words that swooned many minds. Very handy when it came to diplomacy, and accompanying him was a young zabrak who was as inexperienced as he was naive. Amelia silently sighed as she let the ramp down so that the passengers may safely disembark.

”Worse case scenario, I’ll leave you two here.” Amelia sarcastically responded as she stood up from her pilot seat. The skittish padawan shifted wary eyes at Amelia’s direction. Apparently he missed the sarcasm and was looking to his master for clarification. As they headed off in search for a kyber crystal, Amelia walked down the ramp as the metal teeth beneath her boots bite into the soil. Two cylindrical hilts rested at her hips as one was notably smaller than the other. She was doing the usual details of going through maintenance, reports, etc. Even going as far as trading since despite them being active on certain missions given out by their order. Amelia tends to keep trade goods, and/or bundles of supplies such as food, medicine, and even clothing. The basic things as some places, or villages in this case, normally wouldn’t have easy access to. It was part of Amelia’s personal objective to give out supplies and trade when she could. As the credits she earned or traded with other goods would be spent either for the Silver Jedi or donate it to some other cause.

Amelia pushed two crates on repulsor lifts down the ramp of her ship as they were filled with mechanical objects such as solar paneling and spare parts for repairing said solar technology. The second crate was actually filled with clothing that was mostly meant to endure daily hard work and be comfortable too. The Jedi would waltz around the village, trading with the locals and merchants. However Amelia was quick to notice that the village truly didn’t have much on them, so instead of trading for credits. Amelia traded for a shipment of their medical plants instead. Granted she would lose out on profit yes, but she wagered that the people needed the parts and clothes more than anything else.

She was in the middle of loading up this shipment of plants onto the repulsor lift when Amelia noticed that one of the teenagers Eerie Omera Eerie Omera was looking at her. At first the Silverblade didn’t notice the teen due to the buzzing activity of everyone going from place to place. However when one stands still in the midst of the crowd, well it sort of stood out to Amelia. A mechanical click could be heard as the crate slid into the lift successfully, and with a press of a button the repulsor lift activated itself. Amelia would wave at the girl in greeting as she didn’t want to be rude. Then the Jedi will begin to push the lifted crate over towards her ship.

A little known world in the Midrim, settled by small groups of Arsenians worshipping a goddess of agriculture, and deeply connected to the world around him.

That fascinated Tiland and he, like Jend-Ro Quill Jend-Ro Quill in times past, had invited some of those he knew, many from the Circle of the Light Hand but not all, on what could only be called a field trip. What wisdom could they learn from them? How could they learn to be more attuned to their surroundings, to be better Jedi and, more importantly, learn to be better beings.

That was one of the things that did separate the philosophy of the Light Hand from more orthodox Jedi teaching. Ultimately, the the Way of the Light Habd emphasizes personal growth and mastery rather than the personal denial of some of the stricter sects.

How could one be in harmony with the Force if one was not in harmony with one’s self?

He paused for a moment as he stepped gently off the ship at the edge of Ikora Village, his eyes darting across the people he could see.

“Shoeless,” Tiland said with a smile, adjusting from strap of his satchel before peeling off his boots and socks. “Always an excellent start.”

It really was a peaceful place. Slow, with its own gentle rhythms rippling through the Force. The rhythms of seasons and growth and harvest. Not necessarily the wild rhythms of the frontier, or the cold rhythms of the starts, but something… soft. Gentle even.

He tilted his head, considering. Not far away, youths chased shrimp into bamboo baskets and collected them for harvest. “So,” Tiland said, turning to his companions. “Where is the Force guiding us?”

Kneeling against the earth, Pyeth inspected the daggers of grass, wondering how the flora differed here from that of his home. Maybe, if he was lucky, Pyeth might find something of medicinal value.

His concentration was broken when Tiland mentioned shoes, or lack thereof. "Careful not to cut yourself on the blades of grass." Pyeth teased while rising slowly.

The concept felt more natural to him, he went everywhere baretaloned. Sharp talons and fabric didn't get along very well, plus he didn't take kindly to anything that would hinder flight or climbing.

Recently, his life had been moving from one crisis to the next and after Rishi. This, he hoped would be a welcomed distraction. Still, he carried with him the newly forged Lightsaber just in case.

"I would value a visit to the local apothecary, or doctors. I've heard their methods to healing are unique." Pyeth said, in response to Tiland's question.

More cautiously he added, "Maybe see if there is truth to the rumours of Kyber?"

A Yurbian Y'ceptor slowly began to land as Ura looked out on Thalia, pointing things out to Balru as she guided the fighter in.

This'll be fun. Get to see a new planet. It seems... surprisingly simple.

Simple?

Yeah. Doesn't seem like there's much technology. The lervon would finally get the fighter to the ground before jumping out and looking around. It seemed like she might've been a little late, but she wanted go see what this planet was like. She had heard of lightsaber crystals here, a unique one. While Ura had no need for another saber really, it would be cool to see one. She just hoped the Arsenian's would noticed or ask about Balru's presence in her mind.

The village seemed more alive now then on most days. Well, it always felt alive, but today there was an extra current of energy running in the air. Several new ships had already made landfall since she left for the fields earlier in the morning. Some were freighters, others were not, but all were unfamiliar to the teen.

Eerie had stopped to watch a few of the visitors as the took in their new surroundings. Her eyes then locked with Amelia Venthyra Amelia Venthyra . She gave a sheepish grin at being caught and gave a small wave back the best she could without loosing good balance on the shrimp baskets.

Slightly embarrassed by the staring at strangers part, she quickly turned to go about her business. That's when she almost ran into Tiland Kortun Tiland Kortun and Pyeth Raffinki Pyeth Raffinki . Once again, the shrimp baskets were almost lost. Luckily she caught her balance quickly enough to keep from dropping the baskets. "S...sorry, I should have been paying attention to where I was going." These two were also newcomers, and both of species she didn't recognize. What were the odds, almost embarrassing herself in front of several offworlders in the span of a minute.

Lauren and Shem remained amongst the light smoke of scented candles. Swapping stories of far off stars and magic tales of silver river fish. Life was simpler here and time ran slowly. Perhaps they'd share a meal if the hours passed too slowly. In the meantime, faerie tales and pleasant conversation would do just fine.

Lauren asked about the planet. Shem asked about the stars.

Tiland nodded and shaded his eyes with one hand, looking out towards the horizon. "Always wise to learn from healers who have things we have not learned. And the kyber might be worth visiting, although I have no need for saber crystals." Something in the Force surged and he twisted instinctively, hand reaching out to keep a shrimp basket from falling over with his fingertips. "Oh, not at all, my young friend!"

He gave a warm smile. "Can we help you with any of these?" He looked around the village, noticing a few others who looked somewhat out of place. "Is there normally this many visitors here?"

"Well, my concerns with Kyber do not lie in the production of lightsabers. Instead, it-" Pyeth found himself cut off midsentence when one of the farmers almost bumped into them. Taking a step back, he was distraught to see her almost trip and braced himself to catch her if necessary. Thankfully, there was no need, as the native found her footing with surprising ease and Tiland once more proved his mastery of the Force.

Pyeth sighed, relieved to see all was well. Before he could say any more, Tiland had offered their assistance. "I'd be happy to help you carry that basket." He chirped, taking this to be an opportunity to learn more about these people. He could share his concerns about Kyber later when they didn't have such intriguing company. "My name is Pyeth, and this is my friend Tiland." He trilled before glancing back at his mentor.

Thalia, In Orbit

"Come on," Jasper muttered to himself, "Don't die yet..."

After making short trip to restock, Jasper found himself attacked by pirates upon his return to Coruscant. He repealed these assailants, as he usually did, but the exile's troubles didn't end there. Before long, propulsion in the Philosopher's left foil went offline. Soon, the ship was sputtering along, slightly off balance and incredibly exposed. He would have to land on the nearest planet to get out and repair the ship. Thalia, while a world unfamiliar to the young exile, was a beacon of hope, the alternative to being stranded in the vacuum of space. Jasper did his best to ease the Philosopher through the atmosphere of the green planet, but his entrance was hotter than he had anticipated.

"BLAST!" he exclaimed, trying his best to pull up the ship.

Turbulence was increasing. Jasper managed to get his vessel to a state of gliding, but it was too late to avoid a rough landing. The Philosopher hit the ground, ripping up turf and sinking into the soil. Jasper scrambled to assess the damage. All appeared to be well... until he got to the foils. In the collision, the right foil had sustained similar damage to the left. For now, he was grounded.

"That's what I get for flying sub-light," Jasper scowled, leaning back in the pilot's chair and exhaling with frustration. "Lana is gonna kill me when I get back."

Jasper stopped mid thought. Something was off about this place. He was usually unable to detect much in the way of force sensitives or artifacts, but there was enough of a presence that even he couldn't miss it. Concluding that this was all the more reason to leave, Jasper gathered his tools and scrambled to repair his ship.

"Oh, umm..thank you." She was slightly taken by surprise at their offer to help. An offer she wasn't going to turn down. Her heterocramatic eyes gave a quick glance between the two. Were these Jedi? The one looked human, or human enough. The second was....a giant bird man for a lack of a better term. "No, we normally don't this many visitors. Mostly just merchants collecting grains and agricultural stuff."

"My name is Eerie Omera."
The teen gave a small bow to the two. "So what brought you out here?'

Patches shook Kei awake from the console. As quiet as a mouse, never saying a word. His was bigger than Kei's shoulder, how he stayed so silent was anyone's guess. Ambiguous statement rocked back and forth, the old patchwork freighter buffeted by atmospheric turbulence.

"One more beautiful landing." Kei grinned.

Zacka the old cage with his even older hat was squinting at Kei, his wizened old face showing his disapproval. To be honest Kei needed that nap, he'd been up babysitting Patches kids never mind looking after his own teenager's needs. Patches gave a frown to the old cage, which softened Zacka's ire as he took his place nearby. Kei was a terrible pilot, always had been, he'd tried to learn but the best he ever did was a copilot watching gauges that told them when the ship had lost something important.

CRACK

Didn't sound great. Patches Shrugged and Zacka sighed. A gigantic Houk on board swore something in a rim language nobody here cared to translate. They came in calm enough, the old freighter touching down with a slight thump on the ground, creaking and then coming to a stop.

"Some hydrofluid she'll fix right up." Kei declared optimistically, while the Houks continued grumbling in the background. It hadn't occurred to Kei how similar the Houks and Zacka were until right now and how much he loved them both because of it.

Down came the old landing ramp, with a cluster of aliens races behind it. One grizzled greying Jedi Master in a Brown jacket, green shirt and durable trousers. Obviously some armorweave underneath, a lightsaber and blaster somewhere tucked in it all. The appearance of the Jedi master could be called Dusty. The small freighter was cramped with just how many people were disembarking.

A forty year old veteran wildcard joined him looking over the quiet village.

"Detail anything the village needs and let's have it arranged." The man nodded and a small trio of them got to work. These days the wildcards were all retired veterans, old soldiers or operatives that didn't want to give up the life, many were engineers or logistics experts that saw to the day to day needs inside SJC space. The nuts and bolts of what needed to be done out of sight and mind.

Here that would be new crop seeds, agricultural gear, medical supplies, replacement parts the usual.

To say that this small village was getting busier by the minute was an understatement. Several presences accompanied by at least two or maybe three ships made landfall just on the outskirts of this village. What was starting to worry Amelia however, was that each of these presences were sensitive to the force. Some were strong, refined within the Force. Others were raw, trained, yet not as honed in the Force. From a distance, they appear to be fine. Probably Jedi, but at least their presence isn’t tainted by the dark side.

The red head continued to put the crate of medical supplies into the cargo hold of her ship. As she took a breather, the Silver Jedi reached down to pull out her comlink to check in on the others.

”Any luck on your search?” She questioned the receiver as a male voice responded shortly after.

”We need a bit more time. I can’t safely say how long exactly this should take, but so far we’ve come up empty.” Amelia remembered the first time she had to build her own lightsaber, so she understood how exciting and how time consuming it could be to a Padawan.

”Alright, well just to warn you we seem to have more guests around here. I'll go say hello, but if anything happens just say the word and I'll be there in two klicks." Not that she's worried as Karn was an experienced Jedi and his padawan wasn't a slouch either despite Amelia giving him a hard time.

"We hear you." Even so, Amelia didn't rule out any possibility that something could go wrong. Whether it's the environment, Sith, Force, or just a series of unfortunate circumstances.

[br]

So Amelia will depart from her ship and begin to head towards the others. The least she could do was introduce herself right? They were roughly on the same side, even though they might originate from different factions, worlds, and/or beliefs. However, things changed course as the sounds of a whining ship flew through the atmosphere. Causing Amelia to look up and see a ship with a flaming engine sail over the village as it struggled to maintain altitude. She knew it was going to make a landing somewhere, and thankfully it misses the village. However, it disappeared over the tree lines into the wilderness before a thunderous metallic crash that ruptured the peaceful atmosphere.

The Silverblade wasted no time to run back into her ship to retrieve her speeder bike, something that she typically only used to get somewhere quick on land. The bike's engines roared to life as she carefully let the speeder down the ramp before suddenly turning the nose towards the direction of the crash. With a twist of her wrist, Amelia sped out of the village as the wind clawed violently onto her hair and robes.

Eventually, she found the cleared trail where the ship crashed, and Amelia slowed down her bike as she approached the crash site.

"Hello?!" She called out, hoping to get some response from anyone. In the midst of all of the smoke and fire from the engines it was hard to make out anything. Of course, the Silver Warden felt a presence in the Force within the ship's vicinity so at least someone was alive.

Not waiting for much of an answer, Amelia would hop down from her bike and begin searching the ship from the outside.

He sat sleeping against a tree a makeshift campsite around him when he was woken up by a loud crash he stood up rubbing his eyes and looked around spotting smoke rising from far away he also saw ships landing at an area close to him and decided to head there bugs buzzed around him and mud squelched as he walked.

Jasper was lost in thought, focused on the repair of his vessel's foils. After determining he didn't want an encounter with any form of force sensitive on the planet, the exile got to work with little delay. Unfortunately, the damaged seemed a bit more complex than he was anticipating. The repairs would take Jasper hours to complete, and that was a generous estimate on his part. None of this mattered when the voice of a stranger called from past the smoke billowing out of the Philosopher, however...

"Hello?!" She called out, hoping to get some response from anyone

Fantastic,
Jasper thought with a sigh. So much for no encounters. To his dismay, a woman with reddish-brown hair had come to investigate the crash site. There was no way anyone would have been missed, after all. Jasper knew with one glance that his speculations were correct. This woman was a Jedi, and judging by the strong force presence, which Jasper could only ever feel in great numbers, there had to be more on the planet. Knowing there was no way to avoid a confrontation, Jasper put on his friendliest face, or at least what friendliness he could muster. Hopefully his weak connection to the force would go undetected by the stranger.

"Hello!" Jasper called back. He was sitting atop the left foil tinkering when he responded. "Sorry if I made a mess! I was forced to make an unexpected landing when my foils gave out."

Jasper knew that there was no way the Jedi didn't offer him aid, but a part of him hoped that she didn't.

Shem and Lauren concluded their talk with a light bow. Having discussed all she came to inquire about, Lauren took her leave of the central Temple. To her great surprise other Lightsiders had appeared on-world. And in great number too. Outstanding! Well... At least. It would have been? Had there been anything nefarious or otherworldly going on at moment. Alas. Thalia's remote location and general mundane nature meant that little appeared to be happening here. Or ever, happened here, really. So Lauren simply shrugged and moved to take her leave.

She returned to her X-Type Diana Blue and logged her notes about her visit. While interesting, the planet itself did not suit her purposes. So she'd best be moving on.

She fired up her engines and left the tiny planet and it's remote system behind. Comfortable that their quiet way of life would remain so for many years to come. Pleasant, distant, and ignorable.

"Excellent to meet you, Eerie," Tiland said, turning to look around as more ships landed and more people spilled out, including a flaming ship hurtling past the village. His words trailed off for a moment as he heard a loud crash, but others were already moving towards it.

He felt no sign of any danger or evidence that the pilot involved was injured, so he stayed still for the moment. "Grain merchants are good folk, usually..."

There had to be half a squadron of freighters at this point and he looked over to Pyeth. "Did we miss a convention announcement or something? I've not seen this many Jedi together since we the Silver Jedi and New Jedi had a fight over each oher's choice of allies against the Bryn'adul."

At her question, he paused for a moment, tapping his fingers on the top of the staff. "We heard this was an interesting world! Newly and sparsely settled, with a unique culture and ways of healing, so we came to see how we could learn."

"Master Amadis we have reports of a crashed ship. Other Jedi are investigating." They didn't have any speeders with them personally. Kei reached out to see if there was danger, or if there was ill intent. He didn't sense either and agreed events seemed under control. "To be sure take yourself and Vars with a medkit. Provide any engineering supplies we have on board. I sense you won't need it. Offer anyway."

It was unlikely the two engineers Kei sent would get there quickly. Moving on foot to assist as required and carrying their tools with them.

Walking amongst the simple village felt good. The greying Jedi Master, had secluded himself at his log cabin with his extended family for a long period. Here it reminded him of home. Not as many tree's and vibrant wilderness as Kashyyyk but a good memory.

Once or twice he stopped to ask the villagers if he could offer anything to them, to see what they needed. Why so many force users had collected here, didn't surprise the older Jedi Master, these things happened time to time. Unexplained events he'd long stopped trying to wrap his head around.

Eventually Amadis crossed path with the small gathering Eerie Omera Eerie Omera | Pyeth Raffinki Pyeth Raffinki | Tiland Kortun Tiland Kortun | Ura Iolar Ura Iolar and nodded firmly.

"Greetings. A pleasant village you have here." Speaking to all of them, not knowing from a glance who called this place home. Not far behind him you could see the logistic experts that had arrived giving villagers what they could, and finding out what people could use in the future to provide it.

Why had Kei been drawn here right now, what was special. He had heard the word healing, Taiden would have appreciated that.
