Hello! Just going to duck in and introduce myself.

I've written roleplay on forums before and a little bit on my mobile phone through amino communities, mostly though my history with roleplay goes back to MMOs particularly World of Warcraft. I'm a fan of star wars particularly the older movies and video games that released in the early-mid 00s, my favourite genre of video games unsurprisingly is probably role-playing games so I am enthusiastic about starting here, there is a lot of content on the forum and I'm excited by the amount of activity I see going on the website.

There seems to be a lot of history and lore for the website's story on the timeline, is there anything in particular I would need to keep in mind when creating a character? I saw there was no approval process but I still don't want to make silly mistakes. Also, does writing regular BB code on the website work? I've learned a little bit of it from my time on other forums and I like to use it when creating character biographies or typing posts.

Managed to find the guides and tutorials so I will give them a read. When it comes to the Factions, do I join just one or can I join several? Thank you all for being patient and answering my questions in advance!

Hi, welcome to Chaos! I'm glad to see you're jumping in, and always if you have any questions feel free to ask, either here or on our discord.

In regards to your current questions, a lot depends on the type of character you're going to make. For example, a Corellians would need to know smethign else from a character who grew up in the Sith Empire. I'd say the easiest thing is to settle on a character concept and then ask around or we can direct you to the best people to talk to to gather the history. OR just creats a blank slate and go from there

BB code works a little bit, but it's limited on the forum. The easiest way to modify text is via the board's ui.

In regards to factions, you can join as many, or as few as you want to. At the start I'd choose one of the majors since they tend to have more writers and make it easier to settle in and get your questions answers while you ease into the various functions of the board. Once you're comfortable there are a whole range of options out there for RP.

I appreciate the answer about the factions as I was confused whether or not it was OK to join several. At the moment I'm thinking about writing a Jedi character maybe a Padawan since there doesn't seem to be any hard restrictions on Jedi, Sith etc. in the rules. My mind is spinning a little bit with all the lore and possibilities. Which factions would be suitable for a Jedi Padawan?

[member="Valessia Brentioch"] is right, the Silver Jedi are hte largest active Jedi Faction at the moment. Corellia also has it's Green Jedi and there are many Jedi who just write without belonging to any faction. But I'd second the suggestion of the SJO as a starting point.
