Name: Aberash Temple
Intent: To give the Force Users of the Jedi Academy, Sabarene, and the Sv’Yato Fleet a place to commune with the Light Side of the Force, in an environment conducive to meditation and spiritual enlightenment.
Classification: Force User Temple
Location: Aberash Temple stands nestled in a crater joined with the Abha Desert Flats and the ocean, an area which had once been resplendent with water and sea life. The shoreline seeps into the temple sanctum, filling the meditation chamber with water at the high tide times of the day and night. A place of relative peace on the volatile desert planet, where much fighting has taken place, the Temple is a testament to the peace of the Force despite the chaos which surrounds.

Description: Resting in a place of pristine beauty and gorgeous sunrises and sunsets, Aberash Temple is carved out of the natural rock formations and cliffs on the shore of the ocean. Taken as a form of meditation for himself and his Force Sensitive people (a very small percentage of the total population of Sabarene), Padawans and his mother, the building of Aberash Temple has created a rough hewn compound which shifts and changes as the tide comes in and out. While the living quarters are fairly ascetic, they are dry as are the kitchens. The entire compound was built with Manu's love of acrobatics, whimsy and climbing involved, and makes an excellent place for younglings to play, and the young at heart to enjoy their ocean-bound life. Due to the nature of the architecture, one of the favourite classes for the Padawans is the Lightsaber form Ataru and those skills which help with the scaling of heights, jumping high and swimming for longer periods of time.
Areas of Interest:
- The Inner Sanctum: Where lessons are taught and meditations undertaken, the Inner Sanctum of Aberash spends half of the day under water. The Sanctum was hewn from the rock by Manu himself, keeping his mind open and his spirit cognizant of nothing but the ebb and flow of the Living Force. Its' circular configuration is two floors tall, surrounded by arches with spaces for future statues to tell the stories of Aberash which would be yet to come. The altar is surrounded by a low and semi-circular stair, and has enough space for two or three Jedi to sit in meditation, or demonstrate a new skill. Having a talent for Ataru and a love of combat as language, Manu also ringed the top of the Sanctum with a flat ringed walkway wide enough for three to walk side by side comfortably. When the tide is at its fullest, the walkway is mere inches above the water, and as the tide goes out more and more of the spiralling inner sanctuary. Hand holds, foot holds, places to cling to make the Inner Sanctum a climber's paradise, with enough room along the bottom of the chamber for the entire population of the Temple to sit, or stand in comfort. A symbol of the ever-shifting Force, the Inner Sanctum is the constant oceanic tide of Manu's perception of the Force itself: The perpetual and ever kinetic ocean which both feeds and destroys, but always acts for the good of its beings.
- The Temple Channels: Each of the places within the Aberash Temple's Oceanic side can be accessed by a circuit of swimming channels submerged in water. Fish have been known to swim along them, as well as turtles and other such ocean life. The Training Areas on the ocean side can be gotten to by a swim.
- The Temple Halls: While the Jedi's personal rooms, kitchen and hanging gardens are set high enough above the tidal line to preserve those in it from one heck of a good morning shock, the Halls are cut above the Training Areas, Meditation Areas and sweep upward in spirals to the living areas.
- The Kitchens & Garden: Built against the cliffside, for maximum sunshine and a gorgeous view is the expansive and hearty kitchens and hanging garden. Growing many of the vegetables the Aberashi Jedi consume in vertical garden walls, the kitchens sprawl into homely and comfortable living areas and communal spaces where members can imbibe in a constantly replenished pot of tea kept over a bubbling fire. Lounge seats with a view of the ocean add a brilliant sense of calm to Aberash Temple. The Garden Walls act as barriers between cooking areas, seating, dining and common spaces, there are places awaiting saplings of fruit trees Manu hopes to have grow and provide the people of Aberash with fresh fruit. There is a general sensation of anticipation and peace to the Aberash kitchens and garden, flooding upward to the non-uniform Jedi Quarters built into the cliff face and up spiral towers. Each room has its own quirks and size, there are barely any straight lines but all of them have at least a sliver of a view of the ocean.
- The Training Areas: Flanking the Inner Sanctum are areas sunken into the stone large enough to maintain classes of up to a dozen students in anything from the Healing Arts to Combat Arts. On the ocean's side, the training areas are known to flood at high tide, on the cliff face's side the training areas remain dry.
- Infirmary: It is on the constantly dry side where the Infirmary lies, built out of a sunken training area. It is one of the few places aside from the personal quarters with a formal roof, and has modern medical equipment.
- The Vault: Manu has built a place to keep those items unsafe to be allowed in the greater populace. Reinforced from a natural subterranean cave he found by intuition, the Vault can only be accessed by underwater channels, which due to the tidal current, is only accessible at a specific time of day by a strong swimmer. Only the Headmaster and Masters of Aberash are given the knowledge that the Vault exists, even fewer of whom will be shown where and when the Vault can be accessed. Once in the Vault, one must focus on their patience to avoid the panic of the elements and the intimidating flippancy of the interior water levels. Manu dug shelves above the water line to house the items deemed fit for the Vault's keeping. Further development of the vault and further protective layers must be developed through RP.
- Aberash Dock: A large dock nestles along the ocean for ships sailing in and out of the Temple's space. Due to the nature of the desert sand, a space port has not been built, and there is only room for a few personal sized ships to be docked on large platforms resting on top of pontoons. The easiest way of accessing the Aberash Temple is landing at the Spaceport in Abha and taking a Temple approved transport.
- The Beach Shack: The original setting for Manu's training of Padawans, the Beach Shack is little more than a driftwood-built shack large enough to stand up in, and house a dozen or so surf boards. All the supplies necessary for building one's own surfboard are along the wall of the shack, and it is nestled beside the Temple. Near enough to be a short walk from the outer gates, the Beach Shack is a favourite place to let off steam, go surfing and beach comb.
All in all, the technology of Aberash Temple is hidden, if present at all. But for the Infirmary, Communication Devices and the modern utilities, the Aberash Temple relies on the sun, the ocean's tide and open fires. Any high technology is brought in by the Padawans, Knights and Masters which make the Temple home.
History: Jedi Master Manu Xextos had a long journey to bring his people to the planet Sabarene. Coming to the broken planet on Ashin Varanin's behest, Manu's first push was to give the populace a city in which to live, a Military Academy from which to learn and allies to help their settling survival. Life is tough. The land is raw, supplies are thin and fresh water is precious, yet the Master Xextos took time for himself and the more tender of his population. The Force Users of Sabarene were plagued by the wounds recent battles had scarred the planet with, and in order to salvage the sense of peace and light he desired to imbue the planet with, Manu found a beach where he taught his Padawans to surf and rely on the Living Force. Slowly he began to build upon the site, imbuing it with his own presence and that of his Padawans and their hard work.
It was then a curious circumstance occurred.
His mother came back from the Moross Crusade. Ahani Najwa had been insane, imbalanced and stuck in the putrid taint of the Sithly way, but upon her return from becoming Champion of the Gods her heart had changed. Someone had healed his mother's mind and Ahani came to her son's feet to ask for forgiveness. Manu brought his mother to the Temple site, and taught her how to meditate on the Light Side of the Force. Her conversion was and continues to be slow, but in the ocean surf and the comfort of familial forgiveness and love, the conqueror found a moment of grace. . . enough to encourage Manu that this place was becoming holy to the Light.
She began to help build the temple, and laid her Sith lightsaber at the Temple's inner sanctum. The lightsaber was swallowed by the rising tide and swept out to sea. It was enough of a sign for the Jedi Master to send his mother on a journey of self-exploration and to send word to Ilias and the Headmaster of the Jedi Academy that the Temple was ready to receive students.
The Aberash Temple is still brand new and Manu has reached out to his old friend [member="Ilias Nytrau"] to answer whispers of a Jedi Academy spreading across the stars. Manu is opening up the Aberash Temple to the Jedi Academy and placing himself finally back into the fold of the Jedi Order.
