The Techno Union

Who are we?To the west, delusional anarchists and impotent “policemen.” To the east, an alliance of criminals and gangsters. It is within this frame that the Techno Union rests- the sole legitimate government of the South Systems.
The Techno Union rejects the mindless tyranny of the Sith, the bureaucratic sluggishness of the Republic, the barbarity of the Mandalorians, and the militancy of the Protectorate. Here, the government occupies itself with the business of building a powerful economy based on the development and export of cutting edge technology.
For this region, the capitalist ideology dominates. The belief that every individual has the right for personal advancement prevails among the planets of the Techno Union. Everyone has the right to follow their own path.
In the beginning, the Techno Union was little more than a collaborative think tank. First for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, then the Abrion Systems Authority, and finally for the Abrion Corporate Alliance. Now the Techno Union has assumed direct control over the federal government, ruling in a minimalist, streamlined fashion. Each world is allocated to dictate its own affairs as the residents see fit, but the Techno Union takes a keen interest in making sure worlds are developing efficiently and maintain high economic productivity.
Due to the stresses of the current era, the Techno Union fields a sizable defense force. While mostly automated by droids, several auxiliary companies and organizations exist to accommodate those organics who wish to fight for the preservation of the Union.
How does it work?
The Techno Union functions as a Technocratic Corporatocracy. This is to say that the politics of the region are dominated entirely by businessmen, scientists, engineers, and other technical experts. The highest level of government are occupied by the representatives of corporations that count themselves as members of the Techno Union. This is known as the Executive Board of the Techno Union.
The leader of the Executive Board, the ultimate authority and head of state of the Techno Union, is known as the Foreman.
The Executive Board determines the federal policy of the Techno Union, but has little to do with planetary and other local affairs. Serving under the Executive Board is the Directorate- the main bureaucracy of the Techno Union that oversees the day-to-day maintenance of the state and the supervision of planetary governments.
Planetary governments are largely left to themselves and left unfettered by the Techno Union. But they are, however, expected to cooperate with Committees for Planetary Development. The CPDs are a board of scientists, engineers, and other technical experts born and raised on that planet. These men and women determine what is necessary and prudent to develop planets in a multitude of ways- be it increasing population, improving infrastructure, or bolstering commercial activity. CPDs are led by Viceroys, who are businessmen and women selected by the Executive Board.
Having occupied the planet of Bothawui for some time, the Techno Union is also home to the Spynet. The Spynet is the galaxy’s premier intelligence gathering organization. Its personnel answer directly to the Foreman and are present throughout all levels of the Techno Union’s government and those planetary governments it hosts.
Answering to the Executive Board is the Obsidian Order- the Techno Union’s sect of Force Users. The Obsidian Order does not lean towards one side or the other of the Force and encourages its members to follow their own paths, be they light or dark. Ultimately, whatever their methods, they are sworn to serve the Techno Union and its ideals- not rule it.
