ACS-405 Enhanced Vehicle Sensor Suite
Intent: To modernize Vehicles and Tanks for Combat
Development Thread: As Needed
Manufacturer: ArmaTech Combat Systems and MandalHypernautics
Model: Mk1
Affiliation: Open Market
Modularity: It is a Modification and can be altered to fit almost any vehicle
Production: Mass
Material: Electronics, Sensor Equipment, Comm-Link components
Classification: Sensor Suite
Special Features:
The ACS-405 is designed to increase the effectiveness, range, and sensitivity of the vehicles sensor suite and communication array. It is able quickly scan the area around the vehicle using a combination of X-Ray, Sonar, Radar, Thermal, Ultraviolet, and Electromagnetic Spectrums. It has a longer range than standard sensor packages and the power and sensitivity to cut through low grade jamming signals and signal distortion systems. Sufficiently powerful jamming signals as well as significant natural interference will render it ineffective. Effectively it is a long range sensor array capable of scanning a wide variety of spectrums.
The communication system is two pronged. First and exterior hard-wired comm-link on the rear of the vehicle allows troops to communicate with the vehicle and still maintain comm-silence, as well as cut through all jamming systems as it is hard-wired to the vehicles intercom system. This is simply a wired phone connected to the vehicle's interior intercom. Secondly it benefits from increased range through use of short burst S-threads. This vastly increases the range and allows the vehicle to communicate with ships in orbit, but requires a satellite system if the recipient is sufficiently obscured by rock and land mass. A conventional comm system is still included.
A Laser Target Designator is featured on the vehicle, allowing it to mark targets using the infrared laser. These are used for designating targets for orbital bombardment, cruise missile strikes, and other guided ordnance. The laser is invisible to the visual spectrum, and does not shine continuously, instead pulsing to make it more difficult to detect. The signals bounce off the target and are received by the seeker on the laser guided munition, steering the projectile towards the center of the reflected signal. They require clear Line of Sight to target in order to function properly.
A Laser Sensor system is attached to the main weapon on the turret. A small node above the primary weapon on the chassis for the weapon, the laser uses a series of pulses to sense the cross-winds and their speed and direction to target, the barometric pressure of the air, the range, and other atmospheric conditions that would otherwise affect a projectile’s travel to the target. It is effectively a set of Barometric Pressure Sensors, Rangefinder, Electrobinoculars, and Cross-wind Sensor routed and processed through the same targeting computer.
