Actions and Words (a story from the past)

6 years earlier on Atrisia

Bella was once again trying to get this spell down that her father had given her, as an earth bender she should be able to say the words use the force and create a pillar of dirt, or more depending upon her power.

Frustration crept over her like warm blanket with cactus needles in it. She threw the words into the air, and headed towards the market. Yes her father would be cross but she needed out of Hyogo and something, someone else to talk to there were other recruits on Atrisia maybe she could find one.

She did not look back as she ran down the pathways the teenager knew them so well, even the public gardens she had the paths memorized. In case she needed a quick escape. Today was one such day.

Bella finally stopped running staring down into the coy pond, the orange coy was bobbing before her looking for the outlay of bread that most of the visitors brought but today Bella only brought her bad mood.

To Colonel Hagal:

It is my recommendation that Cpl. Greifen Vond not be recommended for promotion. It is my assessment that he lacks the personal qualities necessary for leadership in this military apparatus. He is better suited to the more remedial, yet still vitally important, duties he currently holds as a Corporal in the One Sith Army.

Sincerely,

Captain Rask

[end transmission]

Vond's knuckles whitened as he gripped the edge of the datapad, perusing the same message he had already read a dozen times earlier today. Captain Rask had copied him on the transmission he sent to the Colonel, almost as if it was an intentional slap in the face. Vond was normally quite good at suppressing his emotions, but today, he stewed with rage. At any moment he felt liable to explode, and so the young soldier found it best to remove himself from the company of his fellows for the time being.

Even the beautiful sight of the courtyard was not enough to cheer him up. The sun was shining overhead, but all Vond could do was wrench his face into a displeased squint and move towards the koi pond. A sudden feeling of power came over him that was altogether unfamiliar; he felt as if he could sense everything around him in that moment of rage, almost as if time moved slower. Even the girl near the pond, too, who did not escape his notice; it was as if he could sense her every movement. But the moment subsided, and the feeling was gone almost as soon as it came.

Staring down at the rippling water, Vond sighed quietly. And then, his fingers released their grip on the datapad. It slid from his palm and splashed into the pond, instantly short-circuiting.

He didn't need it anymore, he decided. All signs were pointing to Vond remaining on Atrisia, and in his same station in life, far into the foreseeable future.

Staring off into water wondering if she had anything in her pocket she could give to the coy, so elegant. Their fluid movements between their fins and the quick swish of a tail propelled them through the water so quickly and yet it seemed so effortlessly.

She watched wishing that her spells would work that well it would please her father if she could do it without such efforts. If only.

Lost in her thoughts she felt a shift in the force it caught her off guard. She picked her head up and began looking around such a surge, such power it felt strong, but perhaps it was uncontrolled she wasn't sure. Her gaze finally settled on a man sitting, his anger over something washed over it that she could feel in rivers.

She gasped, that felt so good that was worth investigating.

Slowly she rose up her gaze still on the man, as she began to walk towards him. She smiled letting her senses be assaulted with his emotions.

As she drew closer she paused, "hello"

What as she to say now?

"Aren't the coy fish just beautiful?" Ok. It was a beginning.
