- Production: Semi-Unique
- Material:
- The Adasan Obelisk allows any Dark Side alchemist to project their physical appearance and voice through the Obelisk and out of other Obelisks, though it does not transfer surroundings.
- To access the Obelisk's powers, an individual wielding the Dark Side of the Force must impose their will upon the Obelisk using the art of Sith Alchemy. This process, when done correctly, will allow the user to project their appearance to another Obelisk. The pliable meltmassif material will transmogrify to resemble the speaker and will perfectly mimic their movement and speech.
- Personal one-to-one conversations will utilize the entire Obelisk structure to display the speaker's appearance, while communications made with a group will only replicate their faces and upper bodies while they are speaking. The meltmassif will fluctuate and shift depending on who is speaking, appearing as an ever-shifting sea of amorphous faces.
- The alchemist in control of their own Obelisk can choose to accept or reject the connection with any other Obelisk by blocking the electrochemical transmission through Sith Alchemy.
- Unorthodox Communication Method
- Bypasses Jamming Systems
- Weakness Against Force Light
- Cannot Be Operated In A Force Nullification Zone
The Rakatans had established an enormous empire spanning the galaxy, their conquest assured by their mastery of technology and the Dark Side of the Force. In doing so, they encountered a myriad of divergent civilizations and cultures which they subsumed or destroyed. One of these cultures the Rakatan encountered was the Melters of Mindor, and in doing so they discovered the substance known as Meltmassif.
Meltmassif was unique in its strange electrochemical properties and the Melters could shape the substance at will. The Rakatans subdued the Melters and ripped the knowledge of meltmassif's properties from them, using Force Alchemy to imbue the meltmassif and control it with the Dark Side of the Force.
The Rakatans developed this particular meltmassif as a method of unorthodox communications, allowing members of the upper strata of Rakatan society to communicate with one another without the need for technological means. The Rakata brought this meltmassif along with them on their conquests, and eventually, it wound up on Korriban.
The ancient Sith acquired a large quantity of meltmassif following the repulsion of the Rakatan at the hands of mythical King Adas. Unsure of its powers, the Sith sealed the meltmassif below the dunes of Korriban for thousands of years until it was rediscovered by the Dark Jedi Exiles. The Exiles, having perfected Force Alchemy, experimented with the meltmassif and greatly improved their control over this alien material.
Eventually, the meltmassif would again be lost to time below the decrepit tombs. It remained forgotten until Sith led by Darth Carnifex rediscovered it during an expedition into the older tomb complexes and brought it back to the surface. Carnifex toiled for many months in understanding its secrets and fashioned the meltmassif into a slew of obelisks that could be used by himself and his lieutenants to communicate beyond the holonetwork. He named them Adasan Obelisks after the mythical King who sent the mighty Rakatan reeling back into the stars.
After the advent of the Sith Strife, many obelisks were lost or disseminated among the Dark Side warlords which sprung up across the galaxy.
