On the farthest edges of known space, where the dying breath of a star could be studied in solitude, the station drifted. No planets, no bustling trade routes—only a vast void broken by the occasional celestial wandering. Positioned in near-perfect isolation, it stood free of most major gravitational forces, almost unique for scientific inquiry in the great expanse.

It was a modest installation, no more than twenty-five rooms in total. Laboratories took the lion's share, but there were also spaces for recreation, engineering, hydroponics, storage, and the necessities required to sustain a thirty-person crew for prolonged periods. It was not luxury, but it was comfortable enough. The crew remained in high spirits, guided by the steady hand of their well-liked captain, Hir Kasax—a Kiffar of calm authority. His Chief Engineer, the Mon Calamari Vrec Robic, was gruff but competent, a man whose work spoke for him. Finally there was Pashene Gon, the Chief Scientist, a Naboo woman whose gentle nature hid her sharp intellect.

Supply ships arrived every two weeks, keeping the station well-stocked. A small transport ship remained docked for emergencies, though it saw little use beyond serving as additional private quarters for the crew. It was aboard the latest supply vessel that Taiden had arrived. Ever an eager observer of the universe's quiet mysteries, he had sought out this distant place with a particular curiosity—one not just of scientific phenomena, but of the Force itself. Could it be perceived differently so far from civilization? That was a question worth traveling this far into the void to answer.

Taiden moved gracefully, a presence apart from the world around him. His traditional Echani robes immaculate, a pure white untouched by the stains of travel. They flowed as he walked, pristine as fresh-fallen snow. Clipped to his belt was his visor, alongside a small pack of research tools. His silver hair and silver eyes reflected the sterile glow of the station's lights, making him seem almost out of place in the station's dimmer corridors.

As he entered the central chamber, where the senior crew gathered to welcome the latest arrivals, he nodded in quiet polite acknowledgement. Hands clasped before him, the Kethborn bowed—a gesture of respect to all present. Words of greeting and orientation filled the space, touching on station protocols, living arrangements, and the nature of the work being conducted here. He listened, ever the scholar, absorbing all with quiet fascination. There was much to learn in this place, and he intended to unravel its secrets with equal parts patience and curiosity.

The Senate had a vested interest in the researched conducted on the Force in such remote areas.

In the interest of observing the results of the research grants approved by the chancellor to Chief Scientist Pashene Gon. A Senate Commando squad under captain Nos Voros arrived at the orbital station, the visit serving a dual purpose: firstly to collect data for a firsthand report on the status of the station, verifying that Senate funding was both sufficient for the research team's needs and that the funds were appropriately spent - a formality, by and large.

Secondly, the opportunity to run Zero-G training exercises was a personal suggestion from Captain Voros - granted only insofar as they didn't disturb the ongoing research.

Upon reaching the central chamber, Captain Nos Voros and the 8 heavily armored commandos of Rubrus Actual removed their blue helms, greeting the staff cordially, at ease and weapons visible but holstered. This was not a show of force, merely full uniform for the unit.

"A pleasure to meet you all, I am sure the Senate will be pleased to see the progress on the station here." Nos said with professional but politely earnest tone.

It was almost pathetic how much this mission—just a simple mission to a lonely speck in the vast expanse of space—felt like a vacation compared to Coruscant.

Eshan had grown tired of the same routines, the endless lessons, the quiet judgment in every glance from his fellow Jedi. He longed for more—for something beyond temple halls and meditation chambers. But he was still paying the price for his temper, and without a master to guide him, the Alliance had decided to test his discipline. Instead of sending him on a real mission, they sent him here, to some research station floating in the void, as if isolation would tame his claws.

The journey itself had been long. His quarters had been tight but sufficient, the rations plentiful enough to keep even someone of his size satisfied. But the real issue? No proper place to bathe.

He had done his best to avoid the stereotype—the Trianii obsessed with cleanliness, the one who detested filth like an overgrown house pet. But truthfully? He did hate being dirty. Every moment spent unkempt itched at him, gnawed at his patience. More than once, he had locked himself away in his personal quarters, using what little water was available to scrub away the discomfort.

At least he had been promised proper accommodations once they reached the station. That, and the fact that this mission would put him alongside a squad of Alliance commandos, made this whole assignment easier to stomach. He wouldn't be the only muscle on the mission, and that suited him just fine.

When the ship finally docked, Eshan stepped out alongside the others, his towering form wrapped in traditional Jedi robes. To the untrained eye, he likely looked more important than he was—a warrior rather than an untested Padawan still under scrutiny. That was fine. Prey always saw what they wanted to see.

His golden eyes swept the station with a predator's patience, nostrils flaring slightly as he took in the sterile scent of recycled air. His ears flicked toward the nearest officer, signaling his attention before his voice followed.

"Where are my quarters?" he asked, his tone carrying the low, rolling growl of someone who didn't care to ask twice.

The sooner he got settled, the sooner he could shed the ship's stale scent and prepare for what was to come.

Captain Kasax extended a hand to shake Captain Voros's. "Honored to have you aboard. Any news from the core systems?" Word from the core was rare here, any news always welcome. Getting holorecords or messages from loved ones was a treat. Kasax's tone was the same for every officer or soldier presented, addressing the arriving group as a whole with mutual respect. "I've instructed my officers to provide full debriefings on our work to date and grant you all access to the labs and extended facilities." The gruff Mon Calamari Chief Engineer seemed less than thrilled about this, in contrast to the chief scientist, whose keen expression created a warm smile.

"Where are my quarters?"

A junior Cerean operations officer, Shivo Chro, assigned to help new arrivals greeted the padawan. She was pleasant enough, ensuring everyone would be settled in. The guest quarters were far from being large; space at a premium here, but they were serviceable because the chief engineer kept a tight station.

"If you prefer to rest, your quarters are ready."

For those who wished, a brief tour of the station followed. It was a quiet, uneventful day—an opportunity to rest after the long journey, explore research areas, or socialize in the mess hall. Engaging in Repulsor Darts, Null Hockey, or Pazack, unwinding in the tiny projection wall-enhanced garden, zero-g exercise and testing area, or gazing out at the stars in quiet meditation at the modest observation lounge where couples would sit for privacy.

As peaceful as life could be aboard a quiet station drifting in the void, far from colonized civilization, the evening shift wound down, leading to the smaller night crew taking over. Their arriving ship had long departed. There was no sign that anything was wrong.

So very wrong.

A cup floated midair. Forks pressed unnaturally into the floor. Movement felt strangely effortless, or sluggish as gravity became unpredictable.
A red light blinked on the bridge, communications were affected by warping gravity. Thrusters fired to correct an orbital drift. One, Two, Three times. Then a constant burn of fuel.

A dying star's gravitational shift came far ahead of its time. The hull groaned, shifting tensions across several decks. Especially where the emergency ship happened to be extended on a long limb, there was a loud crack as the exposed docking arm metal began to bend, rupturing, and an alarm followed a second later. Impossible to know how bad at this stage.

At the observation lounge, Taiden blinked from his meditations, finding himself weightless, feet lifting off the floor. Crew beginning to rouse from their slumber.

Facility Status:
Gravity is Unpredictable—fuel being burned to stabilize orbit.
Hull damage to be assessed. External Comms erratic.

"Honored to have you aboard. Any news from the core systems?"
Nos did, in fact, have a data disc of updates that was sent with them. With a cordial smile, Bravo Leader Jil Torvan, sent datadisc upon the table.

"I've instructed my officers to provide full debriefings on our work to date and grant you all access to the labs and extended facilities."

While the Jedi that accompanied them seemed quick to rest, Nos was eager to get through the formalities, accompanying the rest of Rubrus Actual on the tour and Debriefings.

...

A thud and lurch immediatelty put Nos on guard. After the first inconsistent gravity ripple, Nos and Rubrus Squad activated the Magnetic Boots integrated to their armor and donned helms in case depressurization was immenant.

Nos spoke, voice now modulated through the armor, "Chief Engineer Robec, I take it this isn't a normal occurrence? We should perform diagnostics immediately"

Procuring his Combat Engineer Multi-Tool, he spoke with urgency. "Alpha Team, check starboard hull conditions and alert staff to prepare in case of gravity or air loss, Bravo team, same orders, port side. Keep comms active and report any issues Private Deren, wake and alert the Jedi."

Nos accompanied the Chief Engineer to determine what was happening to the station. "Everything up until now appeared to be in condition, any idea what's happening here?" Nos asked, not considering that perhaps the chief scientist would have a better clue.
