Chaotic Evil
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
Advanced Technological Industries is a midsize company. Started 150 years ago by Jason Kor after he traveled from Tattooine. His original goal was to travel and see the galaxy. He was truly on a quest to find his place. He felt dead inside on Tattooine. Unstimulated. All he knew was the dull life back in the sandbox. He wanted to join his passions and turn them into credits. His love of the stars and his ideas for ships to conquer the heavens.
He landed on Epoch and never looked back. He was drunk on the energy of Odessa. It felt right. Like home.
The company developed rapidly, going from scribbled ideas to the first starfighter rolling out in less than 10 years. The first few years were lean, as the company found its pace and place among the competition. They did well, and did so because they focused on one thing at a time. Perfecting, if such can be done, each design before starting another one.
ATI was developed on the guiding principles of quality over quantity. Jason had visions of the company progressing further as time goes on. Sure, they started with starfighters, but why stop there? Why be limited? Jason founded ATI as an outlet for his ideas. He encouraged his employees to be free and creative with their thought processes and ideas. As a result, several employees have earned patents for different creations and modifications.
The company passed through the generations within the Kor family, as it is to the present day. Since the meager beginning of building custom designed starfighters, they have entered into manufacturing all shapes and sizes of space ship. Also, within the last 75 years, they began performing modification orders. And finally, starting just 30 years ago, the research and development division was unveiled. Whether that was when it truly started is kept a tight secret. As well as what they actually do behind locked doors. The average employee has no idea the R&D department even exists.
Until recently, ATI was mostly unknown outside of the Erebus System. Somehow, the galaxy at large has learned of their existence. Which has led to sky rocketing profits. As well as attempts at espionage. There was a leak just last year that demonstrated the risks of their rapid expansion. They had upset the status quo, and someone was unhappy. As a result, an unknown amount of classified data was stolen.
ATI is currently in search of a location to expand operations as a means to increase profits and lower expenses. Of the planets rumored to be in consideration are Tattooine, Naboo and Corellia. If one listens close enough in the right dark alleys, you may even hear Nar Shaddaa.
RATIONALE
Keeping her Force signature hidden by pulling the Force tight, she met with one Rata Kor. The man who owned and was CEO for Advanced Technological Systems. They met for dinner one evening, in one of Odessa's most upscale restaurants. Maestus was the perfect dinner guest. After dessert, Rata invited her to continue the conversation over drinks in his personal home. Ever ready to play to her audience, Maestus feigned insult at such forwardness, but gave in with a shy smile.
He took her to his home in a gated suburb of Odessa. Inwardly, Maestus was revolted by such waste. Money spent on trappings when those with wealth could have much higher aspirations. Short sighted. But she was here to change it. For Rata, at least. She had plans for the company, for Rata, even Odessa and Epoch itself. For the time being, though, she would keep patient. She needed to start small. Baby steps.
She dropped all pretenses the moment her foot touched the plush flooring within. When Rata stepped in behind her, she whirled around and turned on him. All pretenses dropped, she allowed the Dark Side of the Force to unleash itself. Rata was terrified and fell to his knees. Without Maestus even saying a word, Rata began bellowing out oaths of fealty. Promises of credits beyond her wildest dreams. As she watched with an expressionless face, a slight movement of her finger, and the sheer force of her will exploded in Rata's mind.
You will sell me 51% ownership of ATI. I will be the silent majority holder. You, Rata, will remain in your position as the face of the company. All sales and modifications are to be brought to my attention. Particularly customer names. Research and development will be handed over to someone else, at my discretion. Come now, Rata, off the floor. There are credits to be made.
Having no choice, Rata complied.
