DESCRIPTION
The AE-CM1 Dampener Chaff system is a simple, non-lethal, defense weapon designed off simple modifications to standard Chaff Launchers.
Chaff at its base unleashes a small cloud of duraplast particles designed to confuse warhead guidance systems into processing the cloud as the targeted ship, thus detonating in the chaff rather than against the shields or hull of the vessel.
The advancement made by Alderaan Engineering was simple. Adding Dampener Aerosol to the Chaff dispersion, thus allowing the cloud to also reduce and degenerate the containment fields of many energy based weapons (Blasters, Particle Beam weapons, Ion weapons, etc) and reduce the power of incoming laser weaponry.
Each Projector is relatively small, only able to protect against a single angle of attack with a relatively small area of dispersion. Even full sized Corvettes are unlikely to benefit from a bank of them as they simple cannot cover that much space. However smaller personal vessels, starfighters, etc would be able to make use of them
Normally they are linked to Lock-Threat Warning, but sometimes a bank has been known to be turreted on large ships and controlled by a droid brain that processes the proper timing and angle to release the chaff.

- Anti-Missile and Blaster Defense: Unlike Traditional Chaff launchers the AE-CM1 also releases a cloud of dampener aerosol which reduces the effectiveness of blaster weaponry.
- Non-Lethal: Even in extreme circumstances, the AE-CM1 cannot harm someone or something itself. It can only degenerate blaster weaponry and cause early detonation against incoming warheads.
- Small Scale: Can’t Be used effectively on Full-Sized Corvettes and Larger.
- Semi-Effective: Larger energy weapons such as turbolasers, while still somewhat reduced in firepower, are less effected by the dampener aerosol.
- Short Duration: The chaff and gas cloud move away and get left behind quickly. It only lasts for a few seconds before it dissipates.
