The Hunter of Concordia
Aertan J’Kai
NAME: Aertan J’Kai
FACTION: The Death Watch Crusade
RANK: None
SPECIES: Human
AGE: 25
SEX: Male
HEIGHT: 5ft 10"
WEIGHT: 160lbs
EYES: Golden Yellow
HAIR: White Blonde
SKIN: White
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes, but this mostly heightened senses and reflexes, nothing like a Jedi or Sith.
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES :
Weaknesses:
Arrogance:
Aertan is a skilled warrior and a proud Mandalorian, he is very confident in his abilities and his track record up to this point only serves to inflate his self-confidence, although his confidence has made him a popular choice and trusted source to carry out bounties and sensitive tasks, it can make him hard to work with, especially as part of a team if he doesn't respect your abilities, his arrogance can blind him to the bigger picture and to the tactical advantages that other people and their abilities can offer. His perspective has always been, 'If you want something doing properly, do it yourself', only relying on his Death Watch brethren when the mission requires it.
Trust:
In part due to his arrogance and confidence, but also due to being betrayed by his own Brother and a lifetime of disappointment in others, Aertan struggles with trusting people. The Death Watch is the only place that you will find people that Aertan trusts, a few exemplary warriors that he respects and admires, talented individuals like him. As for the rest of them, trust is a hard earned task and if you're not a Mandalorian, it's near impossible. The rest of the Galaxy is a mess of betrayal, conflict and disingenuous beings, and it's this lack of trust and faith in everybody else that can make him a sharp edge in some situations, but also can make him hard to get along with, be around and get to know. He is upfront about this and doesn't mince his words, but his abrupt nature doesn't make him many friends or otherwise.
Strengths:
The Force:
One of the things that sets Aertan apart from his brethren, is his ability to utilize the Force, specifically the dark side. He is no Sith ot Jedi, he cannot wield the force like a weapon, but the Force does heighten his senses and reflexes, making him a formidable opponent and a talented warrior, this is only helped by his natural inclination towards combat as a traditional Mandalorian.
Straight Forward and Strong Willed:
Aertan is not easily manipulated, a past riddled with deceit and betrayal, he has learned how to read people and their true intentions towards him and others, his loyalties, beliefs and plans are not up for discussion, if you try to manipulate him, this will only serve to anger him. He is also very straightforward and honest, though he has his flaws, he is not a liar and he doesn't mince his words, if he says he will do something, no matter what, he will do it. Not much of a conversationalist, he wont talk for hours on end, but when he does talk, it's to the point and truthful. This makes him oxi-moronically useful in conversations that require advice.
Good Nature:
Aertan's arrogance can make him seem a certain way, cold and inhospitable, and whilst he doesn't help himself, he has a deep sense of loyalty and friendship with those that care enough to give him a chance, his cold exterior is the crust of his shell and his good nature and compassion is the mantle beneath, it takes some effort to get there, but once you're there, its obvious it was always there.
APPEARANCE:
Aertan is a well built Mandalorian, not the biggest or strongest, but certainly a strong and capable warrior. He is an albino, pale white skin, bright white hair and golden-yellow eyes, and has a red face tattoo, two thick lines beneath the eyes that drop at right angles down to the bottom of his cheeks. He also has the Death Watch insignia tattooed elegantly on the back of his neck, showing his loyalties and taking pride in it, like a true Mandalorian.
BIOGRAPHY:
Aertan was born in what remains of Keldabe, a child of traditional Mandalorians, due to their strong pride and identification with Mandalorian tradition and culture. He was born in a time where the old ways were on the verge of extinction being replaced by the new ways, pacifism, diplomacy and allegiances with the enemies of Mandalore like the Jedi, this shift in culture shaped him as his beliefs as his pride was being stamped on in favour of those who sought to destroy Mandalore and control it for political gain. They were eventually forced into exile to Mangalore's moon Concordia, he didn't understand how his fellow Mandalorians couldn't see what was happening to their home and to themselves.
He spent most of his youth training and dreaming of being a warrior, strong and capable like his Father. It was at the age of 13 that he understood that he wasn't like the rest of his clan, and that he seemed to notice and understand things that weren't obvious to the others, unbeknownst to him, he had discovered he is Force sensitive. This edge helped him excel and exceed in his training and out perform his brethren from the start. Once his training had finished, it didn't take long for his talents to be widely recognised and in-demand, and spent a large part of his youth bounty hunting and working for the Imperials, not that he particularly liked them, but they paid and they paid well.
In his personal life, at the age of 18 he had met his first and only love, Ama-Lea Lee, they were together for a number of years before she left without any warning and he never heard from her again. Heartbroken, angry and confused, he refused to let this stop him and learned to harvest his emotions to benefit him, and so he accidentally discovered the dark side of the force.
As he became an adult, his family fully intertwined with the Death Watch, went back to Mandalore to begin planting the seeds of rebellion on Mandalore, only to find out that his brother Jackkal had been informing Mandalore of Death Watch and their plans, this lead to an ambush as they landed which killed many of his fellow Death Watch brothers and his Mother, Arial.
The following years were filled with rebellion, triumphant and then utter defeat, repeating like a vicious cycle, Mandalore falling apart at the seams as it's people fought endlessly. Fast forward and another cataclysm later, Mandalore was facing extinction and it's people were fleeing, unable and unwilling to fight for an increasingly hostile world, it was now time to take the Mandalorian way throughout the galaxy, whilst his brethren planned on staying to reform Mandalore in the wake of it's abandonment by the Union, Aertan and a select few of his brethren were tasked with carrying the revered Death Watch name to the stars, remaking the Mandalorian name in a trial of fire, trying to reclaim the pride of their past and instil it into their society once more.
