PRELUDE
A LEGACY LOST
Aerys was born on a small remote island on the planet of Genesia. The second of three children to then Taeli and Fiolette Raaf, and for a while, Aerys had an ideal childhood. She doesn't remember those days, unfortunately. Days spent in the arms of Taeli, playing with her older sister Nerralyn and living in their lush estate on Ravelin. It mirrored the beautiful manors of Galidraan, and Fiolette told Aerys that they were some of the best days she had. Then the realization that Taeli had other priorities, the Sith and the Darkside were her true masters. Fiolette could not compete, would not stand to play second fiddle to the Empire. She left Taeli, leaving behind a scathing letter and taking Aerys and her brother Iaacen with her.
Aerys can only remember days with her mother Fiolette and maternal figure Kassandra Distorith. Those next six years were filled with adventure, Aerys and Iaacen traveled with their mother to just about everywhere she went. Until the day would arrive when Fiolette would have to depart, she sat Aerys and Iaacen down to explain to them what would happen. They would go to live with their sister Lucinyia, and Kassandra would be there should they need her. Fiolette had agreed long ago to pay the price so that another of their family could live.
From that day forward, Fiolette was gone. Aerys and her brother would be moved from Galidraan and would then be raised on Dosuun. In their sister's house, alongside their nieces and nephews who were roughly the same age as they were. Their brother-in-law did his best to make them feel included as if they had always belonged there with them. Still, Aerys couldn't quite put a finger on why she was always angry, although one could surmise that her trust had been violated more than a few times over. As she left the safety of her sister's home on Dosuun. Aerys decided to drop both her surnames as neither one meant anything to her nor did they as she felt reflect her. After all, she was just another lost soul in the galaxy, so what was in a name? A name could be sweet, it could be filled with sorrow and she wanted neither.
