- Market Status: Closed Market
- Model: Aether Implant Generation 2
- Modularity: Stored supplies can be changed depending on the user’s species
- Production: Limited
- Materials: Titanium | Sensor | Gas Supply | Nanobots | Filter
- Classification: Internal Implant
- Size: Average
- Weight: Average
- Resistances (Optional): This is an internal implant so it provides no resistances or protections against damage.
- Has an internal store of breathable gas.
- Allows the user to recycle their own breath to extend the time they can breathe without taking a breath.
- Can filter the air of basic contaminants allowing the user to last longer periods of time in hostile environments than the basic Aether Implant.
- Hidden: As an internal implant there is absolutely no external sign that a user is equipped with the Aether Implant.
- Breath beyond breath: The Aether implant is a rebreather, a device that allows a user to cycle the breath in their lungs again and again. The small supply of breathable gas allows this rebreathing to be supplemented, allowing the user to last longer than they’d be expected to in hostile environments.
- Bloodhound: The implant contains environmental sensors that are able to detect most toxins and elements in the environment and will automatically activate the implant if hostile elements are detected along with sending the user a warning.
- Filter: The Generation 2 implant contains a filter that can remove basic contaminants from the air, allowing the user to avoid using their reserves of breathable gases when they don't have to. The filter is treated with Nanobots which clean them of contaminants to prevent them from clogging up the filter or hurting the user's body.
- Limited Supply: The rebreather contains the supplies for only a limited amount of breaths. On average, after an hour’s use, the supplies will be completely exhausted, if you haven’t found safety in that time the implant will deactivate leaving you at the mercy of the hostile elements in your environment. Once expended the supplies will regenerate as you breathe in a normal environment, but can take 2 hours to restore the supplies.
- Exertion: Any form of exercise, of exertion, will cause you to breathe faster, using up the limited supplies at a rapid pace.
- Slicing: If the implant is sliced into it can be activated or deactivated by a third party, and the safety systems can be disabled. You might not even know it’s been activated until an hour later when you suddenly can’t breathe in the middle of a crowd, surrounded by breathable air.
- Limited protection: While the Aether Implant can present chemicals or biological elements from getting into your lungs, your mouth and nose are still vulnerable. Under such circumstances, it will keep you moving and limit the exposure, not stop it entirely.
The second generation of the Aether Implant to be produced by Locke and Key Mechanics, the implant proved to be more advanced than the first generation. Capable of not just providing emergency air, but also providing a nanobot infused filter to clear contaminants from the air around them.
Retaining all the capabilities of the generation one implant, the more advanced generation 2 implant managed to fill in some gaps in the original design. More capable now and more versatile, the Aether came closer to providing the user with the complete experience that the original idea called for.
