STRENGTHS
  • Astromech Slot - The IPC-I7 was designed to utilize an Astromech Droid to alleviate minor or tedious tasks from the Pilot or Co-Pilot. Located behind the Co-Pilot's seat in the enclosed canopy, the Astromech is charged with enacting minor repairs, providing additional support, and navigational plotting.
  • Tandem Cockpit - The design of these craft carried over similar aspects and features of the Aether TC-M7 and Aether TC-21 respectively, which include the use of a tandem cockpit. This ensures that the controls for all systems are available to both the Pilot and Co-Pilot if either becomes incapacitated.
  • SLAM - These specialized engine systems permit the vessel to override standard safety protocols and increase its Sublight Speed for quick bursts of acceleration, further increasing its already impressive acceleration.
WEAKNESSES
  • Minimal Defenses - The IPC-I7 was designed to act as an Interceptor rather than a Superiority Fighter or Heavy craft. Due to this design, its defenses are minimal; incapable of withstanding prolonged assault or strikes from heavier armaments.
  • SLAM - The major downside of utilizing this system can result in either one or both crew members passing out. Additionally, as it draws power from the weapon reserves, it also decreases the effectiveness of those systems.
  • Weapon Power Converter - With a similar downside to the SLAM system, the L-41C draws power from the engine reserve to increase the capacity and rate of fire of the vessel's primary weapons. However, this comes at the cost of diminished acceleration.
DESCRIPTION
Increased tensions and ongoing conflict have continued to threaten the Galaxy and the need to provide additional defenses for Corporate Assets has resulted in the development of a new InterSystem Patrol Craft. Designed and Developed by Aether Systems, the Aether IPC-I7 was produced as a means to provide the Corporation with a dedicated Starfighter capable of intercepting and striking at a target before it could properly threaten assets in a given Star System. Many of the design aspects and features of the IPC-I7 were carried over from previous design lines, notably the Aether TC-21 and Aether TC-M7 as well as drawing inspiration from the older Eta-2 Interceptor. These design aspects are most notable in the inclusion of the tandem cockpit located in a centralized enclosed canopy that houses the seats for a Pilot, Co-Pilot, and a slot for an Astromech Droid.

The IPC-I7 was designed to focus on Speed and Maneuverability; however, to accomplish this, much of the heavier hull plating and armor was removed to lighten the overall weight of the vessel. This has resulted in diminished defensive capabilities, with the craft often utilizing its speed and maneuverability in an attempt to overcome this weakness. Likewise, the inclusion of a SubLight Acceleration Motor was made to provide additional speed to the vessel. Utilizing this system, however, can often result in either one or both crew members being rendered unconscious, thus resulting in the vessel becoming inoperable. Though the vessel already boasts an impressive array of weaponry, the decision was made to include an L-41C Weapon Power Converter to further bolster its firepower. This too, comes at a cost, as utilizing this system draws from the power reserve of the engines, reducing the Sublight Speed of the vessel.

Aether Systems now stands at the forefront of conflict and finds itself bitterly fighting to hold tight to the Keera Major System. The rapid development and deployment of these Interceptors may not be the final blow needed to push back the enemy, however, it serves as a beacon of hope for the people of Keera Major that the Corporation is not about to abandon the people. Though the Aether IPC-I7 lacks heavier defenses, and the drawbacks of its primary systems can render the vessel at the mercy of enemy craft if utilized too often or at the wrong moment, its strengths and the hopes of victory far outweigh this concern.
