DESCRIPTION |
The Aether TC-21 was designed to serve in the role of an Advanced Trainer Starfighter to assist in the training of individuals or military personnel to be flight ready prior to piloting more advanced craft. This is accomplished due to the TC-21's capability of being equipped to handle a multitude of training roles including basic flying training, advanced flying training, and mission management training. Due to its designation as a training craft, the TC-21 lacks any armament or defensive capability as it is not intended to be utilized in a combat role, however, it is unlikely that its intended use will deter individuals from modifying their craft with after-market additions or customizations. In addition, the TC-21 is not equipped with a Hyperdrive and requires that the craft(s) be transported via a dedicated carrier or carrier craft to their destination in which they are required. Each craft is equipped with an Astromech Slot which is utilized by the Flight Instructor to further assist in the training of the Student as the accompanying Astromech can handle the more minute corrections and repairs to allow the student to focus on their primary training. Additionally, the Flight Instructor can utilize the Astromech to simulate a flight issue to train their student in overcoming a specific issue during flight to further enhance their training. The tandem cockpit of a TC-21 includes a series of displays, a primary flight display, and two multi-function displays to be used in system and mission management. These displays and internal instruments are also laid out in a similar design to mimic the placement as seen in a front-line combat craft for a dash of greater realism in training and to further prepare those students that will face additional flight training in combat craft further down the line. Designed to fill a niche market, the Aether TC-21 provides a cost-effective means by which an organization can train its pilots without risking a more expensive or advanced fighter craft. The tandem cockpit design allows a Flight Instructor to further assist in the training, or take over the craft as needed to prevent an incident or display a specific maneuver or instruct on the flight lesson. |
