DESCRIPTION |
Where the Aether TC-21 was designed with the intention of being predominately utilized by civilian organizations, private individuals, or similar non-military groups to assist in training pilots; the Aether TC-M7 is meant to serve as an advanced trainer starfighter specifically to be utilized by military forces and mercenary organizations. The TC-M7 itself is a military variant of the civilian TC-21, however, it still shares many design elements of the civilian model in its own design. This can be seen in its use of a tandem cockpit, which seats a student at the primary flight controls in the front with a flight instruction in the rear with a secondary set of flight controls. Likewise, the TC-M7 is capable of being equipped to handle multiple training roles that can include basic flight training, advanced flight training, dog-fighting training, bombing run training, and mission management training. Though it is a vessel intended for military use, its designation as a training starfighter has seen it equipped with Training Blaster Cannons, low-yield blaster cannons that are otherwise incapable of doing noticeable or sufficient damage to another vessel. Similar to its civilian variant, the TC-M7 is also equipped with an astromech slot which can hold a single astromech droid to be utilized by the flight instructor to assist in additional training and simulations. Said astromech droid is often utilized to handle the more minute and mundane tasks and corrections of the vessel unless otherwise noted as to serve in the function of a training simulation for the student in how to handle corrections of the craft or repair and bypassing of damaged systems. Each TC-M7 is also designed with weapon hard points that are located beneath the wings, with these hard points being able to handle practice bombs to assist in bombing run training simulations. Many of the other design features of the TC-21 tandem cockpit are also within the TC-M7 which includes the various heads-up displays located within the cockpit proper. As the Aether TC-21 is designed to fill a niche market within the civilian world, the Aether TC-M7 is, likewise, designed to fill that niche market within the military world. These vessels provide a means in which a relatively inexpensive vessel can be utilized to rapidly train pilots whilst keeping more expensive and combat-ready starfighters on the front lines or in combat rather than taking them away for training, thus leaving fighter wings and squadrons without much-needed resources. |
