- Fabrication Module: Included with the Fabrication Module is the Standard Construction Template Database. This database contains the blueprints for commonly used tools, equipment, and modules enabling the Crew to prepare for most expeditions and replace key components if necessary.
- Backup Systems: The Taurus Pattern is designed to have several backup systems for critical void craft sub-systems. Should one fail onboard software will automatically enable the backup until primary functions have been restored. If necessary Officers can override this function.
- Modular Science and Engineering Bays: Between missions, the Taurus can be rapidly retrofitted with desired modules. Blueprints are provided alongside the Taurus, enabling local production and fabrication. There is a maximum of 5 Lab Modules and 3 Engineering Modules that cannot be exceeded.
- Optimised Shielding: Shields have been optimised to counteract known types of exotic and natural radiation. As a side effect, the shields are far less effective against kinetics and capital class weaponry.
- High Power Overhead: The Afrit retrofit is a bespoke design, while having modular components they are built to very specific specifications. Modifying these or components of the ship is not recommended and is likely to cause system-wide shutdowns or other anomalous conditions.
- Internal Security: The ship is vulnerable to boarding actions, while being able to lock down particular areas or modules this is not to a military standard and instead serves more to isolate hull breaches or fires.
The Afrit is a state of the art Science and Support Crusier designed for use by the Rimward Organisation and its affiliates. Built upon a pre-existing design the Afrit features modular compartments enabling the vessel to be easily repaired or retrofitted and features numerous redundancy and backup systems ensuring the safety of its crew. The current design is focused primarily upon Hyperspace discovery and exploitation.
