ENARC, MID RIM
Today is a special day for Thayze. Over the course of his training, one of his biggest achievement was to be handpicked as one of the candidates for the Queen’s Secret Guard role. The committee deemed that his looks, demeanour, and quick-wit allowed him to fit in just right as part of the Queen’s entourage. The caveat was that he had to wait until he’s 18, so over the year he had the time to be trained in the art of politics and diplomacy, as well as all the protocols and skills needed to ensure the Queen’s safety.

The incident during the royal wedding in Hapes was a traumatic tragedy for everyone involved. Thayze wasn’t stationed as one of the Queen’s secret guardian that day, she was able to bring a more experienced retinue publicly on that day. It was also important for Thayze to make an appearance as a nobleman, both for his dynastic standing, but more importantly to make the disguise more believable once he is assigned on a mission.

Thus, when he was informed that he would be accompanying the Queen on a diplomatic trip to Enarc, Thayze couldn’t be any prouder, if not also anxious. The pressure to keep the Queen safe is sky high after the incident in Hapes, not to mention all the political turmoil that has been brewing in Enarc, at least from what he knows and what he has been briefed.

Arriving in Enarc, the party is welcomed by a group of Enarc officials; Prime Minister, Senator, and other high-ranking officials. It is a visit that has been waited, if not a controversial one. As the royal ship touched down on the designated airstrip, Thayze glances at the Queen to check the temperature. They hadn’t talked much through the flight, just a short introduction and they were both briefed by their respective handlers. Trying to gauge her feelings and mood on the upcoming meeting, Thayze asked her a question to start a short conversation.

How do I look, your Grace? A proper Royal Naboo Republic state advisor?” he smiled, waiting for the airstrip crew to clear the landing pad and prepare the photo-oped host reception.

"Very much so," Kalantha said with a thin-lipped smile. She hoped that her nerves weren't as apparent to Thayze as they seemed. She had truthfully enjoyed his company on the jump from Naboo to Enarc and was wholly supportive of his appointment to the Queen's Guard, but worries over what lays in wait had dampened her mood. For that, she felt she should apologize.

"Forgive me, my new friend. My mind's been elsewhere." She was trying to make sense of the docket they were given by Royal Intelligence, which reported growing support for a CIS loyalist political bloc. Understanding their motivations was quite difficult; the people of Enarc were not affected in the same way as Naboo was following the Confederacy's collapse, which could easily explain their grief over the government's dissolution. They didn't have to see Nether demons stalking the streets or their loved ones starving.

Enarc was a trade hub, well connected with the Trade Federation and Techno Union with or without the support of the CIS. There was room to mourn the loss of Confederacy, where Naboo only held resentment at best and hatred at worst. The last four years had gone by quickly, and while her homeworld had rebuilt its marble facades, the scars of the CIS' abandonment was still fresh in the minds of Kalantha's people.

The queen sighed. "This is a difficult task," she admitted to Thayze. "I'm trying to remain confident, but I'm preparing myself for what could happen if the Partisans aren't able to secure control of the government. If spies and propagandists have damaged their cause this much already, I shudder to think of what else they may be capable of."

Kalantha turned her eyes to the viewport, watching the ground crew run diagnostics on the royal starship. Senator-elect Eharl and several of Enarc's premier politicians were waiting patiently in the shade. It wasn't long before they were given clearance to disembark. Queen Kalantha walked side-by-side with Thayze, preceded and flanked by pairs of Royal Commandos. She hoped their presence wouldn't be offensive to the Ithorian senator they were here to meet.

As the Naboo party approached, Kalantha bowed her head. "Senator-elect, it's a pleasure to meet you." She gestured to her companion with a lofty hand. "This is Thayze Montserrat, a member of my delegation."

The Ithorian buzzed with interest. His whiskered eyes blinked as he took in the sight of the Republic's queen and her attaché. "The pleasure is mine, Your Majesty," he returned with a bow. To Thayze, he offered a respectful nod. "Lord Montserrat. Welcome to Enarc."

There’s nothing to forgive, Your Grace,” surprisingly, the Queen is being candid with her worries and doubts, as opposed to his own anxiety hidden under the facade of a regal, overconfident young man. They share the common concern of the issue. Coming from an unpopular, foreign noble family, Thayze knows it all too well how people resent living under the shadow of a foreign ‘ruler’.

We’ll find a way,” he smiles softly, reassuring the Queen that he, despite his minimal experience, is also there to support her in this mission. It’s not like they have a choice anyway. The encroaching Sith, the rise of the the Neo-Crusaders, the independent systems in the Southern region of the galaxy need to unite to ensure that they will survive through this dire time. “We’ll have to.

Walking by the side of the Queen, Thayze proceeded to disembark and walk towards the welcoming party. “
Senator-elect, thank you for the warm welcome.” he nodded at the Ithorian. A quick observation, his gesture and facial expression, hinted that the senator is looking forward to this meeting.

Thayze then stole a quick glance at the Queen, once again scanning her expression, before shifting his sights at the horizon. Enarc. The bustling melting pot. He remembers how his Dad used to tell stories of business trips, the people, and the value that this planet brought and could bring to Naboo. What a shame if something would ever happen to it.

"You're most welcome," the Ithorian replied. Eharl Sarn was a popular politician with great support from the people, though that support seemed to be split these days. He was struggling to maintain his standing against a growing extremist faction of CIS loyalists who not only wished for Enarc to reject admission into the Royal Assembly, but outright oppose it. His competition sought a restoration of the fallen Confederate state.

"Shall we?" Eharl asked, nodding to the structure behind him. "There's much to discuss, and I believe it best to do so in the capitol proper." His voice was kind, but Kalantha sensed unease behind his warmth. The past few months must have really taken a toll on the old viceroy. "Lead the way," she told him, smiling. Her eyes cut knowingly to Thayze, hoping he'd noticed the tension as well.

Eharl and his security team led the Naboo delegation inside, and after a customary security check, they were permitted to travel deeper into Enarc's palatial capitol building. "I've always been fond of Enarcian architecture," Kalantha complimented. It was a unique blend of Neimoidian and Nabooian styles, resulting in a very specific niche that wasn't seen anywhere else in the Southern Systems. Eharl nodded his thanks.

"Much of it is inspired by Naboo," he admitted happily. "Our worlds have a long history of camaraderie, you know. I am eager to see that relationship continue."

"As are we," the Queen agreed, speaking on behalf of the delegation. "Enarc's membership in the Republic is a special interest of mine. Our worlds have certainly enjoyed strong ties. Trade, diplomacy, protection - Enarc and Naboo have been there for one another for centuries. Codifying that brotherhood is a wonderful step."
