Uh...when creating a character for the first time, and it asks for both rank and faction, I...should I leave those blank? Because I haven't created the character yet, so they haven't got either yet...right? What do I do?

If you are creating a Force-sensitive character then it would start as the beginner rank for whatever alignment you choose. Padawan for Jedi, Acolyte for Sith. There are others but those are the two most common. Non Force Sensitives do not have a rank, unless you feel like sticking a military rank in there for kicks if that's what they do.

As for Faction, you can put that in once you've found one you wish to join.
