BIOGRAPHY:
Ahi Ohs'Rim was born on Socorro to a smuggler and a prostitute. He was raised on his father's ship,the Fifth Ace, and he never saw his mother after his birth. While working on the ship with his father, Ahi learned the tricks of the smuggling trade, but the smuggler's life never appealed to him. Instead, he would tinker for hours on the ship, repairing and modifying various components and trying to keep the ship just one MLGT ahead of the authorities. However, his father's low income and a new model of patrol ship resulted in his father's arrest. Ahi was spared and instead sent back to Socorro when he was 14. Despite being so young, Ahi managed to scrape out a living by repairing and modifying pirate ships as well as being a form of entertainment to the passing smugglers and pirates. His special talent was being able to juggle four active fusion cutters at once, a trick that almost cost him a limb many times.
Despite his talents with mechanical parts, Ahi knew that his true calling lay elsewhere. Fortunately, his father had done a job with a fairly wealthy client, and as a payment had asked for several books on flora and fauna throughout the galaxy. During one of the endless, sweltering Socorro afternoons, Ahi decided to break open a book on bioengineering. What he found inside fascinated him. The idea of modifying DNA and other aspects of plants and animals in order to create new species with new adaptations was absolutely astounding to him, and he became obsessed with making his living in that field. He saved up every penny he got from repairing ships in order to buy books and pay for a subscription to "Bioengineering Biweekly," a holomagazine dedicated to the subject.
When one of the contributors to the magazine happened to make an emergency stop at the spaceport for repairs, Ahi seized the opportunity, jumping forward to help with the ship. As he worked, he talked incessantly to the scientist, talking about all of his ideas for new plants and animals, and even new microbes that would help replace bacta. The scientist, amazed at the eagerness of the young boy, decided to take him under his wing. He and Ahi traveled back to a major bioengineering university, where Ahi was allowed to use the university archives to explore to his heart's content. After years helping and studying at the university, Ahi decided it was time to strike out on his own, and founded his own company, EvoCorp. Because he his education was paid for, and a sizable donation by the university, he was able to scrape together enough money to start the business.
Fortunately, he already had a sizeable headquarters in which to start his business. His father's ship, the Fifth Ace was large enough to partially convert into a research laboratory.
