- Composite Construction: Akk Dog uses a set of composite plates that integrally attached to its Uller series exoskeleton. Each plate is constructed using a standardized process designed to maximize the effectiveness of each individual material within the armor. Each plate consists of a laminasteel lattice which holds several duraplast inserts which may be hollowed out to allow circuitry and wiring to run through. This unit is this placed in mold into which molten phrik is poured under intense pressure to form the remaining bulk of this plate. The laminasteel wire frame essentially works like miniaturized slat armor, making it useful against against small explosive projectiles, melee weapons, and slugs. Additionally, it can also act as a farraday cage for components integrated into the armor plate itself. However, most of the EMP/Ion protection afforded by the armor is the results of the duraplast inserts, which provide most of the overall protection afforded by the armor. The outer covering of phrik provides additional resistance to the armor, especially to heat based weapons such as blaster rifles or lightsabers. A thick pane of ceraglass with almost microscopic phrik mesh is used for the faceplate, giving the user good visibility in case the suit is electronically disabled and the HUD is inactivated while still providing reasonable protection against many battlefield threats. The black Defensa bodyglove encapsulates Torolus –series Artificial Muscles throughout most of the body glove, especially around the larger joints. Not only does this layer provide protection from many battlefield threats, basic protection from the environment as well as from many common threats.
- Loth-Wolf series Combat Scanner with SC-1 Hardened Comlink: This system provides Akk Dog with its standard package of HUD, sensors, and basic power suit command and control systems as described in that submission. An open sensor slot in the Loth-Wolf has been plugged in with a well-tuned weapons scanner. This allows Akk Dog users the ability to detect a wide variety of high tech weapons that users might not immediately detect if hidden within clothes or smuggled in containers. This weapons scanner’s integration into the HUD system also allows it to be used as a precise targeting system to destroy enemy weapons, especially with the armor’s onboard weaponry. GravPulse can consequently be used to rip a weapon out of an opponent’s possession or push back an airborne grenade, while ParticleJet has the potential to shoot a weapon from an opponent’s hands. As Loth-Wolf only has a single input slot, the suit’s assistant droid interface works on an entirely different operating system and display mode, much to the frustration of some users.
- Psyhke-series Droid Brain assistant integrated with lifeform scanner: During normal power armor operation, this droid brain is tasked with passively monitoring the Loth-Wolf’s sensor feed and actively controlling and interpreting the suit’s lifeform scanner on a separate operating system. In this way, the droid brain provides the user with a constant set of secondary eyes that can immediately alert the user to other nearby lifeforms which may otherwise be concealed or moving en route to the user who would otherwise not be detectable to the suit’s other sensor systems. If this suit is linked to other Loth-Wolf HUD systems or other automated platforms in different armors, it can also monitor and interpret the feed of other users to provide battlespace wide situational awareness. Aside from this sensor integration role, the droid brain can take over the suit’s systems, in a manner similar to the droid brain of the Dark Trooper Phase III armor before it. While the droid brain can control the suit without an organic operator inside as a conventional battle droid, it is often more used in a co-pilot mode like an astromech droid– precisely regulating shields, weapons systems, and power flow to systems. If the user enables it, it can also take over the suit and make physical movements to prevent the organic user from making grievous mistakes such as stepping on a landmine or running into incoming weapons fire.
- Uller series Exoskeleton: This is the suit's base power-armor chassis. Like some of Lucerne Labs earlier power armors, Akk Dog was specifically designed with facing the immense strength of Baedurin shock troops employed by the Bryn’adul. To that end, the Uller series exoskeleton incorporates specifically oversized framework with additional secondary structural supports. This allows the Akk Dog to use oversized servos at all of the major joints of the exoskeleton, and allow multiple secondary servos augmented by Torolus-series artificial muscles to be installed as adjunctive components to the main servos as well as on the secondary supports. This allows some resiliency in the powersuit’s function. Even if a major servo-motor is completely severed, auxiliary servo-motors and artificial muscles can still move most of the joint, though it may be at reduced strength and/or range of motion. The sheer number of servo-motors and artificial muscles throughout most of the suit provides the user with impressive strength and endurance, allowing users to rival Baedurin and load-lifters in terms of raw strength, allowing users to perform feats of strength such as physically tearing vehicle armor plating and tossing heavy objects as if they were toy balls. Using this strength requires a lot of energy, forcing the Akk Dog to carry two separate Bia series Portable Fusion Generators. The bulk of the suit’s exoskeleton also means that some fine detail dexterity is lost in the fingertips and other small joints.
- Asclepius Bio-support Dispenser: This internal device provides basic physiological monitoring, emergency topical bacta/kolto administration, and can also inject users with a variety of emergency or performance enhancing drugs. In the Akk Dog, this device is mostly used reactively to treat basic battlefield injuries. However, it can also inject the user with a variety of medicines depending on the situation, from Plasvol in the case of shock to radiation poisoning medicine in case the user is exposed to radiation weaponry.
- Bia series Portable Fusion Generator: The Akk Dog has a pair of Bia series Portable Fusion Generators in order to provide the suit with exceptional strength for long periods of time. The Akk Dog mounts one of these generators in its typical spot in the lower back just like most of LPD’s other power suits. Unlike those suits, the Akk Dog has an identical generator mounted just above it. This dual configuration provides some redundancy in case one generator is damaged and provides enough power for the suit to operate continuously for 12 hours. Redundant restart energy pathways built into this reactor allow the Power Armor to "sputter" along when faced with Ion, EMP, and other tech-dampening threats.
- ParticleJet Miniaturized Maser (left gauntlet or right gauntlet): Akk Dog has a miniaturized maser built into the gauntlet of the user’s dominant hand, allowing the user to instinctively point at targets with a finger and fire. While largely intended as a back-up weapon, the ParticleJet’s exotic nature and multiple fire settings can make surprisingly useful in varied security situations, whether stunning an intruder for questioning or pushing back a lightsaber’s blade through a stream of sustained maser pulses. In a more conventional direct-fire sense, it is largely equivalent to a blaster pistol in terms of damage output.
- GravPulse Tactical Pressor/Tractor Device (left gauntlet or right gauntlet): Akk Dog has a GravPulse Device built into the user’s nondominant hand, allowing the user to effectively mimic many telekinetic abilities, such as pulling objects such as personal weapons into the user’s grasp or pushing targets away much like a Force Push. It can also function as a tensor weapon, shearing and disrupting flesh at the molecular level without visible weapons fire, making it exceedingly dangerous to the unprepared enemy at close range.
- Crush-gaunts: Each of Akk Dog’s gloves are actually crush-gaunts made out of phrik. These can not only be used as a close-quarters combat weapon, but they are also useful for hanging onto and intensely gripping objects, whether the user is dangling off a cliff edge or firing a high-recoil weapon.
- Utility Belt: Akk Dog comes with a streamlined utility belt with compartments made out of the same armor plating as the rest of the suit. As with the company’s other power armors, this belt is heavily inspired by the classic stormtrooper belt.. Each belt contains the following equipment: a spool of high tension wire, one grappling hook, four power packs, three ion flares (for illumination or emergency signaling), a combat de-ionizer, a GLiS Emergency Medpac, and four ration packs.
- Myntor series Personal Shield: The Akk Dog sports a Myntor Personal Shield generator located on its torso, providing the user with Xythan shield-based defenses along with a modular secondary shield slot. Most secondary slots are filled by ionic or environmental shielding units depending on the circumstances. This provides the user with some ability to withstand weapons fire before it actually effects the armor. It is not uncommon for users to divert energy from the Akk Dog’s immensely powerful exoskeleton to temporarily bolster up a shield against concentrated weapons fire, such as when charging an enemy stronghold or fighting against well-concealed snipers.
- Ferrazid Particle Distortion Shield: The Akk Dog also has a Ferrazid Particle Distortion Shield, which provides the Akk Dog with an usual means of protecting against melee and kinetic attacks. While particularly valuable against foes like the Bryn’adul who rely heavily on such weapons, it can also be a double-edged sword in that it also effects outgoing projectiles. Many users consequently prefer to use blaster weapons, or if set on using projectile weapons, typically leave the Ferrazid off until coming under heavy projectile weapon attacks. Some users have the Psyhke Droid Brain automatically control the on and off function, allowing it to be flickered on and off quickly much like the particle shields on capital warships.
- Ysalamir Mental Resistance Collar: The Akk Dog also has a mental resistance collar built into the suit’s torso, providing the user with an added advantage to resist (but not be immune) to the effects of mental attacks. Its inclusion was originally mean to help users acting as sentries from falling to ‘Jedi mind tricks’ and some illusion techniques, but it is also useful in withstanding the effects of enemy battle meditation on the combat field.
- Density Projector: Uncommonly, Akk Dog comes with a miniaturized density projector, which functions a manner similar to those used by the CIS’s B3 battle droids in preventing users from being easily knocked down by Force pushes or impacts from ramming attacks by larger beasts or small vehicles. There is usually a delay of a second or two between activating it and then getting the grounding effect, and similarly between deactivating it and the grounding effect going away. This means that it has to activated very carefully and purposefully.
- Basic Environmental Protection: Like many common battle armors such as stormtrooper armor, Akk Dog provides limited protection from hostile environments. Each suit is vacuum proof through its self-sealing Defensa body glove and built-in Pneuma-series Rebreathing System, which also has an independent air supply. This rebreathing system also allows its users to filter atmospheres from toxic gases, both natural and artificial, as well as the potential to breathe underwater with the right filters.
- Juggernaut: Akk Dog provides the user with the capacity for immense physical strength and protection that is further augmented by a density projector, making the user exceptionally dangerous and resilient in close quarter’s melee combat.
- Energy Resilience: Akk Dog’s composite plate construction and Defensa undersuit provide the wearer with excellent protection from energy weapons like blasters and disruptors.
- Kinetic Resilience: Akk Dog provides fairly decent protection from kinetic weapons due to its phrik,-laminasteel-duraplast composite armor plates and use of Defensa textile.
- Lightsaber Resilience: Akk Dog provides excellent protection from lightsabers due to its use of phrik in the armor plating.
- Security Specialist: Akk Dog is designed specifically to be used and worn by security forces and consequently incorporates a number of features designed to help with this duty, from weapons detectors, mental resistance collars to a back-up droid brain and exotic back-up weapons.
- Heavy: Akk Dog’s exceptional strength and resilience comes with the cost of a relatively larger build and a much heavier weight than normal (even for a power suit), making it equivalent to other large power armors like the A-1V. This bulk means that it cannot effectively be used on light-load bearing surfaces, and mobility is exceptionally reduced in soft terrain like mud or quicksand.
- Weak Points (inner thighs): Akk Dog has less protection at its inner thighs in order to cut down on weight and enable better movement in case the suit loses power. This area is only covered by several layers of Defensa intertwined with artificial muscles, both of which are notably less resistant than its phrik armor plating against most weapons.
- Low Radiation Resistance: Akk Dog wasn’t designed with any thought of radiation weapons or environments in mind, though the sheer thickness of its armor plating does provide some shielding via simple depth. Radiation can destroy the microbes used in its Defensa cloth, which can permanently degrade the armor’s ability to protect against energy weapons.
- Low Sonic Resistance: Akk Dog has very limited protection against sonic weapons. While the helmet does provide sonic protection for the user's ears through its HUD system, the rest of the suit was not designed with sonic weapons in mind. The armor plates and condensed matter composite in the exoskeleton provide some protection against these weapons, but this more coincidental rather than intentional.
- Weak Point (distal clavicle sections): In order to cut down weight and better enable natural flexibility, areas around the outer clavicles are only protected by layers of Defensa intertwined with Torolus series artificial muscles
While Lucerne Personal Defense developed a general purpose power armor in its new Howlrunner design to equip and face against masses of enemy infantry, another design team took the opposite approach and focused on building a power armor designed to be used by security forces and bodyguards to face against singular but powerful opponents like Sith lords or Baedurin chieftains. To that end, LPD decided to utilize their technology to make a high-powered design designed to ‘tank’ enemy attacks through a combination of thick armor plating, built-in shielding devices, and gravity density projectors. Further augmenting this resilience, the design team also incorporated a number of security oriented features such as weapon detectors and life form scanners along with Ysalamir mental resistance collars.
One of these add-ons, the inclusion of a secondary droid brain, originally included to interpret life form scanner readings as well as provide an additional safety measure, lead the designers to explore the past concept of the Dark Trooper. This led the designers to bring in some of their Lucerne Labs engineering compatriots to act as battle droid designers. The result of this joint work allows the Akk Dog to function as an entirely independent battle droid, capable of autonomously walking astride the battlefield to tirelessly dispatch foes or stand in the halls of power to indefatigably protect VIPs. While not as heavily armed as their conceptual predecessor, the Akk Dog is noticeably more powerful in terms of raw strength and durability. Perhaps more importantly, the Akk Dog can function as a security droid capable of navigating through social interactions rather than a simple search and destroy battle droid.
Despite this line of advancement in automation, Akk Dog is primarily a personal power armor first designed to give ordinary people the means to effectively survive and fight against unusually powerful foes. As a personal fighting platform, Akk Dog incorporates a host of systems common to other Lucerne Personal Armor designs, but also incorporates a handful of features so far unique to Akk Dog and its security role in protecting users against unusually powerful personal foes. Rather than focus on general threats, Akk Dog was designed specifically to face a pair of threats: Sith and Bryn’adul. For its use against the Sith, the Akk Dog’s Ysalamir Mental Resistance Collar helps protect the user against mind tricks and the effects of opposing battle meditation. The armor plating and the Myntor personal shield generator provide protection not only against common threats, but also against lightsabers as well. Onboard gauntlet weaponry was incorporated to be specifically useful against such threats, with a miniaturized maser being capable of pushing back lightsaber blades and a GravPulse device capable of imitating many common telekinetic Force threats. Against Bryn’adul, the Akk Dog can provide the user with equal (and relatively powerful) brute strength while the Ferrazid Distortion Particle Field generator provides strong protection from both the melee and ranged kinetic attacks that the Bryn’adul have so far preferred. The miniaturized maser allows users to potentially shock Bryn’adul through their metal armor, while the GravPulse device provides a means of offense so far not countered by any known Bryn’adul technology.
Akk Dog is a fairly specialized piece of power armor, which while not particularly more costly than other power armors, is really specialized for close-quarters combat and security roles. Consequently, most of the production run is expected to be produced in steady but limited numbers to equip military police, security forces, and body guards affiliated with the Silver Jedi Concord. The armor is being fielded by Directorate to protect its VIPs as well as maintain internal security on the Waystation. A number of Silver Jedi Concord worlds employ the suit in small numbers to equip bodyguard units to protect their leaders, valuable assets, or strategic locations.
