Unable to feel pain
Strengths:
No pain: Does not feel pain, but can detect damage, this makes it a serious problem in combat as it can keep fighting without fear of pain, attacking relentlessly.
Healing: This biot would almost be considered Sithspawn if it had not been made by a Vong alkahest specialist. It's regenerative capabilities are among the best of any organic droid out there, in addition to being supremely physically strong, able to repair itself extremely quickly, even after suffering extensive injury to major systems, such as its brain, though it cannot repair damage to the brain without at least a quarter of it remaining. Extensive cuts and burns and kinetic damage also eventually repair themselves though it cannot repair damage to the body unless the brain has fully repaired itself first and at least fifteen percent of the body remains. Also, if no torso damage is detected, limbs regrow and regenerate faster. Lastly, its regenerative capabilities are boosted to ten percent past their current form's maximum capacity in light nexuses
Turing Approved: The biot will ace a test to pass for human, and come off as human to anyone unfamiliar with its nature. Its internal systems however, will not fool even the most basic medical scan.
In addition to passing the human test, it uses its empathy programming and extremely strong pheremones to sway conversations in its favor, and very few, even Force Sensitives, are entirely immune to its charm--or its ability to psychologically dissect them with a disturbing degree of precision. Even Laertia is more under its sway than either it or Laertia care to admit because of this.
Force Use: In addition, its alchemized nature as well as specialized glands gave it basic access to Force Powers such as Sense, Push/Pull, Jump, Speed, all at Padawan levels. But it does unusually high damage with its green lightning, which can heavily damage Dark Adepts, As well as heavily stun anyone else. It has no other Force Powers beyond its own high strength healing. Lastly, due to its Alkahest based creation, it cannot be easily sensed with the Force, nor affected easily by the Dark Side. (It can't even be drained!)
Limited Shapeshifting: The Alchemized Biot was one of the very earliest ever attempts at creating a shapeshifting multipurpose organic droid, which by and large was a complete success, though complications and the immensely high expense of creating it, as well as devastating weaknesses ensure such a creation will never see wide scale production. It can shapeshift, and quickly, in the span of minutes, but its combat functions are tied to the form it takes and each form it takes determines its risk of over heat in a percentage that is significant and measurable.
The List of Forms is as follows.
Public Appearance:
The biot's primary appearance, based off ancient and obscure Jedi Master Moya De Lifte, AKA Memphus (Sometimes known as Memphis). Public Alias is Moya Virtu. Moya will be in this form the most often, making deals, and booking shows for Laertia, in addition to handling numerous minor side acts of others. It handles both Laertia's schedule and physical/psychological medical needs in this form, whatever they may be. It is far from defenseless and has three fourths of its regenerative capacity, able to heal severe injuries in a span of minutes and minor wounds in seconds, and full access to its Electric Judgement, along with its Ataru Lightsaber Program, at master level, along with Force Speed and Jump. No other programs are available.
Risk of overheating from prolonged combat is low, relatively ten percent, though this form never overheats when not in battle, and will not continue to overheat after battle has ceased.
This Form's emotion reading capabilities are at seventy five percent of maxmum in this state and its pheremone production is set to seventy five percent of maximum, based off heavily modified Zeltron Pheremones, enabling it to make deals and get past people it other wise would fail at through pure charm and seduction. Few can resist the requests of its naturally magnetic persona in this state. Is publicly known to be a biot with a license to practice business Speed and Reflexes are that of an average human when not using the Force.
Pilot Form:
In this form, Lightsaber Protocols and Force Protocols are disabled, and Piloting and Pistol programming is enabled, enabling Moya to take Laertia anywhere in conventional speeder or spacecraft she can go. Risk of overheating in combat is high (about forty percent chance), its chances of it continuing to overheat even after combat has stopped high as well, though there is no overheat risk when piloting or doing mundane tasks, such as repairs. Regen capacity is at .5 of one fourth capacity, taking it a period of one to two hours to heal most damage. Pheremone production and Emotion reading remain the same as in first form. Strength reduced to twenty percent of maximum.
Trainer Form:
Taking the form of the Jedi who inspired Laertia to become a blademaster, The Trainer Form unlocks all three Saber styles in its records, which it is a master of, as well as basic Force Powers and a weakened version of its electric judgment. Laertia uses this program often, despite its high overheat risk, which severely limits its capacity for field deployment in this form. Unlike other forms, its regen capacity is set to only half of its total capability, requiring only ten to fifteen minutes to heal most injuries. Overheat risk at fifty percent. Emotion reading process and pheremone production reduced to half their standard ability. Reflexes and Speed set to half of full capacity. Stength at thirty five percent capacity.
Heavy Combat Form:
Biots strength is increased to half its total capacity Regen Capacity set to maximum, healing most serious injuries in under a minute, five maximum. All combat and Force Protocols are enabled except for Electric Judgement. Chance of overheat is very high during prolonged combat, about seventy percent. Emotion Reading and pheremone production disabled.
CQC Form:
Biot's strength is increased to maximum, enabling it to bend soft metals. Hand to Hand database enabled only in this form, and Regen Capacity set to maximum, enabling the repair of most wounds in seconds. Speed and Reflexes set to maximum. Force and Lightsaber protocols disabled. Emotion read given triple processing power, allowing it to read attacks and counterattack as well as analyze people and Pheremone production goes to maximum, making it extremely difficult to resist its charms and requests. Even strong Force users can be affected now. Chance of overheating only fifteen percent during prolonged combat, due to lack of other combat and enhancement programming.
Manager: Moya is a capable manager, always able to find her "client" work somewhere, even if it is the most unappealing gig possible. She channels the funds into ship repairs, self maintenance, obtaining food and medical equipment for her client, and always providing concise (albeit sarcasm filled) business advice. Laertia's finances would be significantly worse off without Moya's influence
Physician: Moya is programmed extensively to treat nearly any kind of injury on a human, even perform brain surgery, cybernetic creation, augmentation, and repair.
Therapist: Moya is extensively programmed with knowledge of human psychology, enabling her to help Laertia deal with severe psychological stress. She is programmed to be a friend and borderline mother-figure to the traumatized Jedi, but will not hesitate to offer blunt advice if it gets her "client" in a proper head space. It has used its natural charm (I.E. its emotion reading abilities and pheremone production) more than once to turn Laertia away from a self destructive course when she would not have otherwise.
Pilot: Moya has extensive civilian starship piloting programming as well as speeder programming, necessary due to the danger of Laertia suffering a migraine or phantom pain while piloting.
I know Kung Fu: Its extremely well made for combat in theory, It has extensive hand to hand programming and its reflexes, strength, and speed are amazing in the right situation. Its Lightsaber combat programming is almost second to none, and is such that even if Laertia were to master all three of the forms it knows, it would still have a more than exceptional chance at defeating her, as she will never be as good at those forms as the biot is.
Force sustained: The Biots extensive alteration via the Force has rendered the consumption of standard vong nutrient unnecessary. It's sustained by the Force, and no amount of damage to anyone of the organic systems save the brain will be enough to slow it. As long as it can stand, it can fight.
Possum: One of the advantages of its design is that after suffering extensive damage, it can pretend to have taken a fatal wound and drop where it stands, knowing that most opponents will assume the battle is over. At this point, it can either play dead and wait to be moved elsewhere, or ambush whoever investigates it. Less effective against Force sensitive targets, who might still faintly sense its presence at very close range.
Weaknesses:
Null Vulnerability: With such heavy alchemization, it was inevitable this would become an issue, and one of many reasons it could never be truly viable as a field model: Upon entering a Force null area, its regeneration fails, along with its physical strength and force sensitivity, rendering it extremely nauseated and easily destructable.
Increased Baffer Pollen Vulnerability: Another setback in Moya's design. Even one of the very greatest Vong Shapers could not solve this continuing problem in Biot design. Upon exposure, Regeneration is disabled, the flesh immediately starting to rupture. It must find some way to get the pollen off before catastrophic bodily damage occurs and to restart its regeneration before permanent shutdown occurs one hour after exposure.
Squishy: It has no real ability to resist the damage its tissues undergo. It damages even easier than normal tissues, and its organic chitin skeleton weakens from kinetic and ballistic attacks quicker than natural bone, making it unable to stand up to heavy blows.
Ion Vulnerable: Though Ion will not destroy it like a standard droid, it will cause it to become temporarily paralyzed, and unable to change shape for hours afterward, or access any combat protocols.
Overheat costs: Another reason the biot will never be a truly effective option for long term engagement: As its overheat risks are tied to its form and get higher depending on its current activities, should overheat occur, it will immediately start to malfunction, its flesh violently deforming until becoming a featureless, gray colored humanoid that becomes totally inert for the next ten minutes, rendering it easily destroyed. It must find a large source of water or ice to avert overheating, another serious flaw in its overall design.
Constant Damage: Upon detecting damage, the brain requires a few seconds of not being damaged to start the repair process. By continuously damaging its body, it is possible to delay its repair, making the damage cumulative and taking it longer to fix everything, potentially resulting in overtaxing its repair system and causing it to work slower and slower, prioritizing vital systems first before anything else. This could make it very easy to destroy, as it mostly relies its ability to retreat long enough to repair damage and exhaust the opponent's stamina, or simply trying to kill the opponent by placing itself in a position where anyone else would normally be easily slain to open up the opponent to a fatal strike.
Sonic Vulnerable: A blast from a sonic bolt causes severe disruptions to its form, causing its regeneration to drop extensively to just five percent of its ability, rupturing the tissue and disabling its other Force abilities for hours. If it is using a form other than its standard appearance, it will be forced back into its standard appearance, its medical and business programming disabled. Requires open surgery to reset medical and business programming.
Paddle Beam Weakness: Being hit by a paddle beam will force it dangerously close to an overheat state, as well as necrotize whatever tissue it hits.
It burns: Pressing a Dark Side Object to its flesh will violently burn the area its pressed to and disable its ability to use electric judgement, and reduce its healing to half of one fourth of its capacity.
No, it Really Burns: Its flesh (though not its skeleton) burns easily, and takes longer to heal from than other forms of damage, often taken as much as ten minutes while it may take only a few with others, no matter the form it is in.
Vulnerable to Vong Unmasquers: The vong tissue was so heavily altered and spliced its vulnerable to Unmasquers, violently ripping itself away when exposed and dying, stunning and exposing the biot underneath and weakening it so badly, its combat programming is disabled for a few minutes, giving it no choice but to try and flee and by time for the tissue to regrow, which varies depending on what form it was in when it was exposed and its associated capacity for regeneration, which may be as little as ten minutes or up to four hours.
Charm dependance: It extensively tries to talk its way out of a struggle. But if deprived of its ability to charm and seduce, it finds itself at a disadvantage negotiation wise.
Dependance: Laertia is lonely and vulnerable, with Moya being one of very, very few beings she trusts. Compounding this is the strength of its pheremones having an addictive quality over time...Laertia needs its reassurance and approval on a regular basis, and if someone wanted to manipulate Laertia, or force her to do something, getting one's hands on Moya would be a good way to get to her psychologically speaking. In addition other people exposed too often to her pheremones have been known to obsess over her, leading to unwanted contact from them seeking her out.
Microwave Vulnerable: Exposure to microwave weapons, while it will not kill, will completely disable its ability to change and cause it to slowly but gradually threaten to overheat to such a degree it cannot restart its regenerative capabilities and come out of its shutdown state without being first kick started by the force healing of another. This renders it easily destroyed.
Alpha Red Vulnerable: Alpha Red exposure does not kill it like most Vong based biots. What it does do is instead render it homicidal to everyone it encounters, even Laertia. Regen capacity is slowed to half of one fourth, glitching randomly between all its forms (and steadily raising its overheat status, and it must be injected with an antidote to be rendered sane again. Failing that, it must be destroyed or otherwise rendered inoperative
I have Rules: The Biot is programmed to care for Laertia but its conditioning has limits. It will not assist in blatantly illegal activities, and should Laertia turn to the Dark Side, or otherwise intentionally commit an atrocity, it would abandon her and become a solo act. The likelihood of Laertia doing this is low, however, given the extent of her injuries, and emotional and financial dependance on The Biot.
Lightsabers: The Brain must be intact to effect repairs on the body, and can even repair severe damage to itself, but should a lightsaber fully pierce the brain casing, it would be a miracle if any of it was left intact, and even if it was, the chance of it being able to effect repairs is slim to none. While the brain could survive and repair glancing blows, it could never survive full on impalement. Large caliber rounds would also liquefy the brain completely in a head on impact, though it could survive and repair from one or two small caliber rounds.
You don't belong in this world!: Moya is legally known to be a product of Vong technology and is registered as such with all proper authorities, who know its full capabilities. She is licensed to practice business and is accorded full sentient rights, but can often face discrimination from some based simply on what she is. She has occasionally faced harrassment from people who hate the idea of organic droids, force users, or both, and since her nature is legally known--so are her weaknesses. Some of this harrassment has degenerated into violence and her being denied entry to a place solely because of her nature as an organic droid.
Neutral Vulnerable: Neutral Force powers stun it longer than they do other organics. Being hit by a powerful enough force wave will not only bruise and damage its chassis, it will also be up to ten minutes before repairs can be initiated.
Dark Nexus Vulnerable: Being caught in a dark nexus disables its combat programs and dulls its Force abilities, causing its current form to glitch.
Shift Wait Time: In spite of being able to change form much quicker than other biots of this type, it still requires a five minute time of undisturbed change, during which it is unable to move, or regenerate anything except its brain, rendering it easily destroyed
Advanced Cryo Weakness: Any tissue hit by cryo weapons will not regenerate, though the chassis underneath is unharmed by cryonics. Tissue damaged by cryo must be removed, so new tissue can grow.
Acid weakness: Exposure to acid not only easily chews through its tissues with alarming ferocity, leading to it potentially overheating as its regenerative abilities desperately fight off its effects, it stops all limb regeneration for a day, which can lead to desperation measures if the arm or leg was hit first. Its chassis however, is acid resistant.
Magic Weakness: Magic spells or weapons cause its tissue to regenerate only as quick as a normal human for a week.
Deprivation: It cannot regenerate while fully submerged in anything. It might stay intact, and conscious, but it will not be able to actually heal
Flawed Success: Though the biot is excellent at its main purpose, it is limited by its peculiarities and what is ultimately a deeply unstable and not fully realized design like later shapeshifting biot constructs. Its vast myriad of weaknesses make it a very, VERY risky proposition for field combat deployment, due to its vulnerability to all but the most conventional forms of damaging someone or something, severe overheating and maintenance issues, and vulnerability to Force and magic, meaning its utility is ultimately very limited beyond its intended purposes and the occasional training bout or light bodyguard duty. It is meant to be ultimately a caretaker, a powerful caretaker, who can occasionally deal with the surprise threat, but nothing more.
PERSONALITY
Some biots have dull empathy. This one does not. Genuinely nice and well meaning, it has only the best interests of its client in mind, and is able to deeply empathize with other creatures, engaging in charity work in its spare time. At the very specific request of Laertia, it was programmed to have a doting, motherly affection for her, and constantly fusses over her health, talking her out of depressive states, and handling business affairs on her behalf. It is however, fully autonomous, requiring no master, and would leave if Laertia started to walk a path it could not lead her away from. Given current affairs, however, its programming states it remain her caretaker so long as she does not engage in Dark Sided actions (At least, not TOO dark sided). Slow to anger, but watch it once you succeed. Often uses its emotion reading ability to get better deals for its client and sheer personal seductive charm to sway arguments its way. Will think nothing of killing to protect Laertia and feels deep distress when Laertia's suffering is more than can be mended. It is also secretly uncomfortable with how emotionally dependant Laertia is on its presence. Enjoys animals, and socializing. Possesses full range of emotions
DESCRIPTION
While Biots such as Vera Mina can be considered major achievements in the concept of a semi-stable shapeshifting organic droid, she was not the first, nor was she the last attempt. There have always been biotechnology Artisans who did small, custom order jobs for certain clients over the ages, from illegal black site facilities on Kamino to imperial labs to HRD's such as Xizor's assassin Guri, there will always be those willing to push the limits of what the Force and Technology can accomplish together, producing either wonders or horrors in the process.
Moya Virtu is the product of the former, and a wonder in many ways. A Biot unlike nearly any other, Moya is an alchemized Organic personal assistant and light duty bodyguard and trainer, the product of a renowned Vong Master Shaper and Alkahest specialist, Programmed for and given to Laertia out of gratitude for sparing the Shaper's son, who had become a Sith before Laertia convinced him to leave The Darkness, Moya was once one of the most advanced droids ever created, and in some ways still is one of the most advanced droids ever created. Made during the Gulag Plague as a decoy for the Jedi Master Moya De Lifte, whose likeness the Biot's primary appearance still bears, in hiding at the time of the plague due to being hunted by a dangerous cult known as The Order of The Brain Demon. Moya never got a chance to make use of the Biot she helped design, as she was found and sacrificed to a mysterious lake of black fire on Atrisia by the Brain Demon Cultists, and the Shaper who had overseen its creation had it preserved in a stasis chamber inactive as a mysterious curio from a failed attempt to cheat the reaper, finding no use until its programming was updated to care for and protect Laertia upon reactivation, handling finances and other things that Laertia's brain injuries make difficult to handle on her own. Though fully autonomous, it is programmed to feel a powerful, motherly affection for her client and see to her wellbeing, conditioning which would only be broken should Laertia embrace the Dark Side completely. Able to protect her client in a pinch as well as being very, very difficult to bring down solely with conventional weaponry, Moya is an extremely reliable ally, the only friend Laertia has left, and, in very specific circumstances, is an extremely serious threat to the unwary or unprepared.
Moya is necessary to Laertia for multiple reasons despite the fact that the biot treating her like a borderline daughter (at Laertia's request no less) sometimes can be extremely uncomfortable to the ex Jedi (though she hides it well enough even Moya does not notice), but nevertheless she always craves Moya's approval, due to both an endless search for a stabilizing parental figure as well as Laertia becoming slowly addicted to the Biot's approval over time due to both endless proximity, Laertia's deep ongoing difficulty at making friends, and the fact that long term exposure to the Biot's hyper-enhanced pheremones have an addictive quality that can make withdrawal from the Biot's presence psychologically painful and even physically painful after only a month of seperation...though admittedly, this level of discomfort does not always occur quickly and symptoms can develop after two or three months...or sometimes only a low level of discomfort occurs. But it always happens eventually. The other reason is from a medical standpoint, as Laertia's brain injuries make her migraine's and phantom limb pains random and nearly unbearable when they occur, and the sudden, unwanted distraction of such things, as well as lapses in judgement and memory, mean having Moya around to course correct when possible can be vital, especially where things like piloting or cooking are concerned, to say nothing of cybernetic maintainance. Lastly, trusting Moya means not having to trust someone whose background she has neither the time nor skill to dig up and waa deeply paranoid about her enemies finding her to begin with. Moya serves as both Laertia's main public face in business and negotiates all her magic show contracts. Without her acumen, Laertia would struggle to even feed herself and keep the ship fueled, and piloting could potentially lead to a lethal accident in space on Laertia's own
Being a product of Alkahest and Vong Technology, the Biot has abilities associated with the Light Side of The Force. It has fantastic but conditional regenerative capabilities that come with numerous caveats and can channel a very powerful form of electric judgement, at the cost of having few other and overall weak force powers, and has significant lightsaber combat databases, which Laertia often challenges herself against. An organic database on pistols, hand to hand combat, business acumen and medicine round out its programming, completed by a high empathy and highly persuasive personality matrix designed to care for Laertia so long as she acts as honorably as possible, conditioning which would be broken should Laertia intentionally commit an unforgivable act, as it is other wise fully autonomous and able to find employment and housing in many occupations. The Biot is sometimes met with hostility, by ordinary bigots for being an organic droid, by some light adepts for being a droid that can use the Force, by Dark Adepts, for being a product of the hated Jedi Alkahest, and still others for possibly being a glimpse into the future of Organic Society.
Legally registered as a biot to all relevant authorities, along with almost all her exact technical specifications (Save her Emotion reading capability and pheremone production), programming, and all other necessary data, Moya's weaknesses could easily be uncovered and exploited, rendering her of extremely limited utility against truly prepared and determined enemies, better suited to defending against the lone, lightly armed and armored attackers. On a good day, it might even be able to take down a small group of very skilled attackers, but in the long term during intense and prolonged combat, its weaknesses would gradually catch up to it, rendering it eventually either totally destroyed, or otherwise incapable of continuing to fight, be it short or long term. When sticking to her intended purpose (Friend and Caretaker) Moya excells at her intended purpose...anything else is a massive gamble that may end up paying well, but is still ultimately a gamble.
Base: Biot
To make such an artisanal creation, base biot tissue was not going to do for its intended purpose (Decoy and surprise weapon originally). A new type of biot was created from the ground up, the base of its genetic code coming from a Shi'ido and built to co habitate with zeltron-type pheremones, extensive alterations in its gestation pod produced a Biot with a tough, flexible casing that resisted cryonics, acid, and, through alkahest spells performed during development, the Dark Side. The chitin shines as if metallic but is ultimately completely organic. Its organic systems are fully encased, and maintain systems like pressure, fluid lubrication, and house the systems that make new tissue for the body after it is damaged. Very weak on its own, but fully mobile and able to walk.
Sheath: Biot Tissue
Engineered from Shi'ido DNA and designed to secrete hyper pheremones, this tissue is an experimental type of "EZ Tissue" that can be grown and spun around the biot quickly, yet modular enough to change both color and shape and provide great strength through the muscle tissue it provides the biot The sheath is where the biot gets most of its protection from, but is ultimately too vulnerable to too many threats to be considered a practical advancement. It damages too easily, and its only real grace is the immense strength it provides, ability to change shape and color, and ability heal and replace damaged tissue at a truly astonishing rate.
Programming
The Biots programming as a caretaker is very clearly defined, and has multiple forms of hand to hand combat, lightsaber combat, business, psychological and medical databases. It is also biological programmed to read emotions and is able to secrete pheremones that raise its persuasive abilities. Laertia also made a very specific request, in a very quiet voice, one she would later come to somewhat regret: That it care for her like she was a daughter to it. It dotes and fusses over her health and the programming can only be broken by Laertia intentionally doing something unforgivably evil. Due to the stress of having so much information in its database, the brain is forced to partition it to avoid severe glitching and overheating on a regular basis (though it was not entirely successful), assigning certain databases to certain forms, increasing or decreasing each forms programming and ability as necessary. It also has fully functional emotional centers and is programmed to be immensely empathetic to others, with a genuinely friendly persona, though if exposed to Alpha Red it would severely glitch, become unstable and murderous, requiring significant repairs or even be destroyed outright.
All in all, an amazing accomplishment for shear technology innovation, but ultimately too impractical for mass production or anything but the very shortest most common field deployments
