HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Despite its bright shining chromium and air of privilege, the people of Alderaan were no stranger to war. Over the years since the end of the Gulag Plague, it has largely relied on its connection to exterior entities and governments to provide for its defense. Its old Royal Fleet was mostly token, flying flights overcrowded venues and escorting its queen and senators across the galaxy. Instead of its combat capability, the Royal Fleet was known for its humanitarian efforts. With hundreds of medical vessels and thousands of teams of doctors and scientists, they aided anyone who cried out for help. However, after two occupations by the Sith, the King declared the Royal Fleet be reformed and remade.
Most of its older vessels remained in service. However, its small fleet of aging light cruisers and corvettes was not up to the task. It was a massive undertaking and saw much push back from the other Great Houses who saw the build-up as going against their perception of a pacifist Alderaan. It wasn't until the attack on Coruscant by the Brotherhood of the Maw and the subsequent Alliance Defense Enhancement Act that the Royal Fleet saw both monetary and social backing.
Placed in the hands of the Alderaanian Knights, the Royal Alderaanian Fleet flew again. More than a defense force, more than a medical corps, the RAF invoked the Ghosts of Alderaan to defend freedom, liberty, and democracy.
