The humming of Carlyle Rausgeber's repulsorlift generator cut through the chatter of the assembled officers, who huddled before the great conference table. Crowding it as they pored over maps. Dozens of them, assembled from all corners of the First Order's burgeoning empire within hours of Supreme Leader's edict. Today was a day nearly all of them knew was coming. For many, a day of dread, but for Fleet Admiral Rausgeber of the Sixth Fleet, one he knew was coming.
Rausgeber seated himself close to the head of the First Imperial Navy, Grand Admiral Tregessar. The officer elicited some stares from the more junior of his compatriots, but they would do nothing. The senior officers were accustomed to the posthumous return from Rausgeber, who now was handed papers from a young attache. This was a day Rausgeber had relished for the past months. Now, in death, the First Order would avenge themselves upon the Galactic Allinace.
Supreme Leader's command was total, and succinct. Rausgeber looked around the room somewhat, "Are we all here?" The Fleet Admiral drily inquired, the artificial tone of his voice coming through quite clearly, denoting his current status.
"I don't believe so," Rear Admiral Ormand Frez replied, glaring at Rausgeber, "Supreme Commander is yet to arrive." The Rear Admiral gestured to the grand seat beside Tregessar, reserved for commander of the military.
"Supreme Commanders arrival does not concern me." Rausgeber replied back, "Our victory does."
Frez's face shrivelled in disgust, "You dare defy the Supreme Commander?" Rausgeber's junior glowered, "It is of our imperative that he is here, to ensure our plan for this operation is sound."
"It is not defiance when Supreme Commander is not here." Rausgeber coolly shot back. "He will be briefed when he arrives, I'm sure of it. Right now, given the timetable we have received, every second we waste, is one which will be paid for in our blood." The droid coldly informed the Rear Admiral, "I believe any second we waste not planning this operation is one which can be considered a waste."
Rausgeber commanded the attention of the room, "Now is the time for strategy and shrewdness, not to stand on ceremony." The droid let his words cling to the crowd, "Now, let us turn our mind to our plan, and how the hell we think we're going to be able blockade an entire sector."
