Intent: To develop a new beacon capable of being used as both a transmitter of hyperspace coordinates/point of reference and an automated communications platform to route holonet transmissions between systems.
Development Thread: N/A
Manufacturer:
Defiance Consolidated Multipurpose Manufacturing
Model: Aleidine-class Beacon
Affiliation: Independent
Modularity: No
Production: Mass-Produced
Material: Agrinium(solar panels), Duranium(frame), Alusteel(exterior)
Description: The Aleidine-class Beacon, named after former Chancellor Aleidis Ijet, was developed by Subach-Innes as a next-generation platform for use in the fields of intersystem communications and hyperspace beaconry. Smaller and more compact than current beacons, with far advanced computing systems and processing abilities, an Aleidine is capable of both transmitting your favorite holoshow from Honoghr that you watch after talking to your wife on Aza'Zoth, and can act as a hyperspace beacon to help you find your location in the galaxy. These beacons can also be stored upon starships, to be ejected in the event of an emergency as to provide log information and the general location of the wreck.

The Aleidine, aside from having a smaller size than a comparable beacon or transmitter, boasts a couple of other improvements. With technology taken from the devastated Seinar facilities after the looting that was part of the Empire's collapse, the Aleidine beacons boast a high-efficiency solar ionization reactor, replete with solar panels similar to those used on TIE fighters. This, in concert with providing power for the supercomputer and transmitters, also powers a series of micro-thrusters, designed to move the Aleidine in the event that it ended up out of position. As well, the reactor sends energy to a combined particle/ray shield, designed to prevent physical tampering and damage from micrometeorite particles, though it can be deactivated with the right security cypher. The computer systems are as well reinforced with proper firewalls and the like to prevent easy infection with a virus, or wireless tapping/tampering.

You don't need a super computer on a relay/beacon.
2:1 m/a reactors require a lot of fuel and one this small would not run for 500 years. I'd recommend a solar ionization reactor like the tie fighters had since those were run off the panels.
Speed would be zero since it's staying put, not motoring across a system.

Considering its use as a hyperspace beacon, I respectfully disagree on the part of the not needing a supercomputer. To quote the Wookiee on hyperspace beacons:

Each beacon was a massive supercomputer in space that kept accurate data on routes to a limited number of other beacons, providing practical limitations on hyperspace jumps in both distance and direction.[1]

It's Star Wars, and a computer in this universe has far more processing capabilities than in real life... but very well. The size has been increased tenfold per your recommendation.

If you're going to quote an article from the wookiee, be prepared to take the rest of it as well. Massive means big, esp with shield generators and the rest of it.
Around the time of the Mandalorian Wars, the beacons became redundant with the introduction of navicomputers, which were then capable of storing millions of hyperspace routes or of restricted (e.g., military or political) navigational data,[1] although certain sectors with notoriously difficult navigational routes, like the Tapani sector, continued to utilize hyperspace beacons well into theImperial Era.
So while I don't see a purpose much beyond exploration or hazardous areas, this very expensive piece of equipment is approved pending secondary.
