Alexander was born to K'paur parents, although his mother was afflicted with a degenerative neurological condition known as 'The Fade'. In order to avoid being hunted down, the pair departed from Kanakura and tried to hide on Nar Shaddaa. Unfortunately, Alex's father seemingly up and abandoned them shortly after his birth. With no one left to support her, the mother did her best to ensure Alex had a brighter future. Fortunately by some miracle, Alex avoided being afflicted with the same condition. But it ultimately meant their time was going to be limited. By the time she had succumb to The Fade, Alex had been sheparded into the care of others.
HISTORY
Unfortunately, that didn't go well at all.
Alex was moved from one foster home to another. Never being able to settle, never happy with the family that had taken him in. Whether because the family were awful, or Alex stubbornly refused to become a part of it. Several rotations of this though, Alex was placed in a family that wouldn't take any of his crap. Instead, he was pushed into the military to learn discipline. This was where Alex met

Through the blood, sweat and tears of bootcamp, the two formed not just a friendship, but a brotherhood too. Much like all of the soldiers did that eventually formed into a unit under Aiden's leadership. Amongst that group, Alex came to be known as 'The Gambler'. Which wasn't just because he was either very unlucky or incredibly lucky when playing for credits. But because he was also one to willingly make risky gambits when out on the battlefield.
And then Selvaris happened.
Their unit had been ambushed by Maw forces, taking them completely by surprise. Brothers in arms fell within the blink of an eye, with only seemingly Alex and Aiden being able to escape. But it was sadly shortlived. The two cut through a building as a shortcut, but the enemy were hot on their heels. Already pretty badly wounded, Alex offered to stay behind. There was a lot of stubborn refusal, but Alex was having none of it. In the end, he was left in that building with a rifle in hand, ready to delay the enemy as much as he could. The sounds of combat were drowned out as the building collapsed...

By some kind of miracle, Alexander Hayes has returned to the land of the living. In the wake of the disaster on Selvaris, Alex's broken and battered body was pulled free from the rubble. His K'paur genetics were what kept Alex alive, but just barely. Enough for a mysterious benefactor to whisk him away to safety. From there they oversaw his rehabilitation, in which one part involved removing his now crushed left arm. It was replaced with a high-tech cybernetic arm, a bit of experimental tech that seemed to adapt well to Alex's enhanced bone structure. From there Alex remained in a deep slumber as his body healed.
Back from the Dead
Time passed, and once he had awoken, he was immediately pushed into training. Alex didn't complain much though, as it was something familiar, reminding him of the years in bootcamp. It helped him regain his strengh and endurance, along with getting use to his new arm. Eventually, he was discharged from their care.
Now, it was just a matter of getting his life back together...right, like that was going to be simple.
