Difficult to discern as armor to the naked eye, one might easily assume them to be simple wrappings.

Deceptively heavy weight helps keep muscles from atrophy by providing a form of constant strength training.

Allows wearer to fight in close quarters relatively unencumbered by excessive armor and unarmed, should they so choose- even against a lightsaber.

Serves as additional protection for cybernetics or wounded areas.

Nigh undetectable: Because of the cloth's make, it takes a trained eye to discern the protective quality of the wrappings.

Myriad defenses: Beskar and Shell spider Silk are both excellent defensive materials. Combined with Plastithread utilized to maximize elasticity, the bandages won't tear easily.

Heavy: They slow the wearer down significantly. While they retain full range of motion and agility, fatigue can set in more quickly and cause sluggishness, should they overexert themselves.

No gels: Because they are only wrappings, the cloth and plates have no thermal or kinetic gel to abate damage from heat build up or projectiles transferring kinetic energy. That means the wearer is spared from lethality, but it's still going to hurt.

Alkor knew that the pain would catch up with him. He knew as time went on, it would grow increasingly difficult to keep his body from wearing down if he opted to return to a lifestyle with no armor, calling on the darkness to empower him. The Dark Jedi had watched his body rot from the inside for years and been cursed to never heal by natural means, and so, he decided to compromise.

He picked up the Beskar'gam he swore never to wear again, and he melted it down. Strand upon strand, he wove the metal into smaller plates and into tinier threads, which he worked into shell spider silk and stitched together into thicker strands with plastithread.

The resulting wraps were enough to cover his torso and both hands and arms while retaining the optical illusion of being the bandages utilized for his treatment. Though it would be much heavier and more taxing, his allies and enemies alike would remain largely unaware of what he was doing to himself-

And Alkor had always been good at hiding his pain.
