Ammunition Type: 12 gauge shotgun shells
Ammunition Capacity: 5 and 10 round detachable box magazines, 40 round drum magazines.
Effective Range: Personal
Rate of Fire: Semiautomatic
Special Features: Use of rail system allows for multiple configurations of optics and accessories, customized muzzle brake reduces climb, smart choke works in conjunction with rangefinder to allow for optimal spread of pellets at a given range
Strengths:
- Excellent stopping power. 12 gauges are extremely effective at putting unarmored enemies on the ground.
- Rail system allows the customer to customize the weapon's optics and accessories to just about any situation.
- Use of detachable magazines allows the customer to further adapt ammunition load to the situation.
- Proprietary smart choke works with Doppler rangefinder to determine distance to target and adjust the spread of the shot accordingly. Doppler system is not visible through infrared or night vision technology.
Weaknesses:
- Less reliable than a pump action, as the gas piston operating system can jam if not properly cared for. Also doesn't handle nonlethal ammunition well, as it lacks the proper mass and gas load to cycle the bolt.
- Doppler rangefinder is susceptible to interference from smoke and airborne particulates. Can be manually deactivated, but the choke will automatically lock to 20 meters when the rangefinder is not active.
- Magazines are bulky, and as a result, the customer won't be able to carry as much ammo as he would with a rifle or carbine. Furthermore, the drums are large enough to make inviting targets to a smart enemy.
- Little to no armor penetration. 12 gauge pellets are devastating against unarmored flesh, but will bounce off even light armor.
Description: This shotgun is a fairly basic gas operated design with a few extra bells and whistles. The rail system allows the customer to fit any number of different optics and accessories, and can even be fitted with a grenade launcher (not included). The short barrel and adjustable stock allow it to be quite compact while still delivering excellent firepower. The weapon also features a bayonet lug, in case the customer wants to go old school. The bayonet, however, will have to be customized to fit the ring around the muzzle brake.
The only truly unique feature on this weapon, aside from the loving craftsmanship that went into making it, is the Doppler rangefinder. Instead of relying on an IR laser, which can be seen through FLIR or night vision optics, the rangefinder functions more like a short ranged radar to detect the distance to the target. Once the distance has been determined, the smart choke adjusts the spread of pellets accordingly, allowing for optimum spread at any range. However, the rangefinder is susceptible to interference from clouds of smoke, dense gas, particulates, or certain forms of electromagnetic interference. For some reason or another, hair dryers really mess with it. In the event that it cannot accurately determine the range, the user will be notified via a vibrating stud on the tip of the trigger. The user can then manually deactivate the rangefinder, which will lock in the choke at 20 meters.
