All downhill from here

Stuffing her datapad into her pocket, Scarlett boarded the starship in front of her, busily moving through the crowd of people as she hurried to get a seat. No way was she taking the several-hour flight standing up.

After a holiday to Coruscant in which she had used all of the extra budget she had earnt over the last few months staying in a nice hotel and going to expensive places for three days, Scarlett was returning to the planet on which she usually liked to remain; Zeltros. Not seeing the point in wasting the last of her bonuses on a fancy private starship, she had boarded a public shuttle to take her back. Thankfully, she had made it to a good seat and so could now read a book on her datapad while she ate her lunch and enjoy a comfortable trip home.

That was exactly what she was doing when a loud thump and a violent push through the air let her know that such comfort would have to wait. All of a sudden, chaos ensued as the starship began spiralling downwards.

Scarlett got to her feet, looking around. What could she do to survive?

Valkren had already occupied a seat by getting there much earlier. He tended to do that when it came to public flights, finding the best seat he could for a public ship. When it came vacationing, the Sergeant didn't get enough of it. His trip to Coruscant was purely business, having not returned to Coruscant since before the fall of the Republic, he almost forgot how peaceful it could be. Unfortunately he couldn't dwell on the much better past he had left behind, he had made the choice to stay with the remains of the Galactic Republic for now, and he'd stick with that aslong as the Republic still helped the innocent in any way they could.

However, now that the Republic had fallen, Valkren became vulnerable to every mercenary, pirate, and insurgent group he had trifled with. With no official authorities to protect him, he was practically a walking target traveling with any Republic escorts in civilized areas. So, instead of his usual of being fully suited up and traveling on a ship in some massive Republic fleet, he was sitting in a public transportation ship, wearing civilian clothing and reading over the sports section of a holopad as he sat there. The young commando cocked a brow and glanced over as this newcomer, Scarlett, had taken a seat across from him.

Just another face in the crowd..

Another thing that just plain sucked about the fall of the Republic, all of his allies and friends were now scattered amongst the galaxy. Most of his commanding officers and soldiers he previously worked with had moved on to other factions, fighting or speaking for what they believed to be right in their own personal crusades. Valkren simply chose to keep his crusade in the Republic for now, knowing his team of operators would much rather stay with the faction they had been drafted into and lived with for the past decade. End all, his list of friends was growing rather short, sadly.

Maybe it was time to make some new frien-

Valkren began to ponder this thought as he looked up from his holopad, taking a glance at the newcomer once more before having his thoughts cut off from the sudden 'push' in the ship, forcing Sergeant Calderon to lean forward slightly, his holopad falling from his lap and shattering as it fell to the floor. As the civilian transport ship's spiral into chaos started, time seemed to slow in Valk's mind, analyzing the situation. He watched as panic suddenly rushed to every passenger's face..They weren't prepared for this, well below half of them might have ever experienced a situation like this, so Valkren expected the casualties to be high if the ship did not regain control.

He had two options: find the escape pods and escape into whatever waited for them..wherever the ship was currently above, or find the captain of the ship and discover who or what was the cause for it. His goodnatured past got the hold of him, he knew very well that he was a possibility why they were spiraling out of control, ships had been attacked before for him, but ofcourse it could have been for anyone onboard that ship. Following his good nature, the man ejected himself from his seat, his icy blue hues focused on the front of the ship as he pulled himself toward the front. He looked to be a 'man with a plan' as he instinctively moved his way toward the cockpit, pushing civilians out of the way to clear a path.

"Republic special forces! Everyone remain calm!" He attempted to yell in a commanding tone, making his way up to the cockpit to assess the situation at the time.
