DESCRIPTION

The All-Terrain Assault Crawler was developed at the onset of the war between the Sith Empire and the New Imperial Order and was designed and produced from the Sith-Imperial production facilities on Belderone. Though the initial designs were conceived by members of the Ministry of Logistics, improvements were made by Sith-aligned Colicoid scientists who drew inspiration from previous Colicoid-based designs like the Scourge Mk. I and Mk. II battle droids. Instead of four legs, the AT-AC was built with six articulated insectoid limbs, which were programmed to maneuver with a tripedal gait where the legs touched the ground in alternating triangles.
For weapon systems, the AT-AC was equipped with a heavy dual laser cannon mounted on the walker's right side. The weapon was powered by an internal plasma generator and fired in alternating bursts. An experimental weapon known as the Organic Decimator Directed-Energy Weapon was mounted on the walker's left side and was based around the technology built into the Empire's XF-72 Decimator Drone as it utilized eighteen energy tendrils which could detangle the molecular structure of organic material on contact. The main difference in weapon philosophy was that the walker's DEW could be scaled down to incapacitate and back up to full organic disintegration. It could also pass through openings in structures and vehicles, evaporating organic material within but leaving the building or machine unharmed. Two banks of mortar launchers ran parallel to either side of the dorsal hull's center.
The AT-AC could be piloted by a single operator alone but was most efficient with a pilot and a gunner working in tandem. There was enough interior space to fit in another four individuals, usually a squad of Legionnaires that acted as security. Storage bays separate from the fuselage that faced outward had enough space to store up to two dozen XF-72 Decimator Drones, which could be launched and received commands from the walker's control panels in the cockpit. A small tractor beam projector located on the walker's bottom could pick up battlefield debris and deposit it into a small collection bay separated by a magnetic shield. The debris was then maneuvered into a miniature molecular furnace, broken down, and reconstructed into raw materials that were then used to construct ammunition shells for the walker's mortar launchers via a duplicator.
As the battle for Bastion loomed on the horizon, hundreds of All-Terrain Assault Crawlers were shipped and distributed to the regiments placed along the war front in preparation for the attack that was to come.
