- Description: The Alliance Marshals Service (AMS) is a federal law enforcement agency that acts on behalf of the Ministry of Justice. The Alliance Marshals Service executes all lawful processes and orders issued under the authority of the Galactic Alliance and commands all necessary assistance needed to execute its duties. Marshals are charged with a number of extremely important tasks, such as investigating individuals and organizations suspected or accused of committing federal crimes, the execution of federal arrest warrants, and the protection of the judiciary and other government officials.

GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

- Headquarters: AMS HQ, Senate District, Galactic City, Coruscant
- Domain: Within the territory of the Galactic Alliance.

SOCIAL INFORMATION

- Hierarchy: Due to the authority and responsibilities vested in the Alliance Marshals Service, the Federal Assembly is extra scrutinous of the agency and its members. The Director of the AMS is appointed directly by the Chancellor of the Galactic Alliance, and the Deputy Director by the Ministry of Justice. In addition, the promotion of any Deputy Marshal to the position of Marshal must be approved by the Minister of Justice. For specific details on the positions within, refer below:

Director: The top authority of the Alliance Marshals Service and lead overseer of the Marshals. The Director of the AMS works closely with the Ministry of Justice to set the agencies objectives and priorities.
Deputy Director: The first in the line of succession to the Director. The Deputy Director of the AMS is the principal deputy and the Director's closest advisor. The Deputy Director aids in the management and oversight of the entire Alliance Marshals Service.
Associate Directors: The leaders of the Alliance Marshals Service's five divisions. The Associate Directors work closely with the Office of the Director & Deputy Director to set the Alliance Marshal Service's operational and performance goals, and ensure that they are being met by their respective divisions.
Alliance Marshal: The top executive Marshals Service position for each federal judicial sector, approved directly by the Minister of Justice. Alliance Marshals directly assist with and oversee the Alliance Marshals Service's operations in their sector, and coordinate their Supervisory Deputies and the local law enforcement agencies.
Supervisory Deputy Alliance Marshal: As the name implies, this is a supervisory position. A Supervisory Deputy Marshal has proven themselves to be reliable and responsible, and typically has three or more Deputy Marshals who report directly to them.
Deputy Alliance Marshal: The bulk of the Alliance Marshals Service's officers and where all Alliance Marshals start their careers. Deputy Marshals make up all non-supervisory roles within the AMS. Depending on their division and job posting a Deputy Marshal may also hold a positional title, such as: criminal investigator, cyber operators, court security officer, inspector, or detention enforcement officer.

- Membership: Acceptance into the Alliance Marshals Service is not an easy feat. It requires an applicant to undergo numerous testing phases, both written and physical, and a series of psychological evaluations. Once completed and if accepted, cadets are sent to complete a 20 week training program at the AMS Basic Training Academy on Coruscant to prepare them for their duties as a Deputy Alliance Marshal. Cadets learn a number of skills during this period of extensive training, including: legal training, firearms training, defensive combat, physical conditioning, surveillance and a number of others. Once the training course is completed, the cadets will graduate, receive the rank of Deputy Alliance Marshal, and move on to the division of their choice:

Office of the Director & Deputy Director: The senior management of the Alliance Marshals Service. As purely administrative positions, the Director, Deputy Director and the Associate Directors provide vision, direction & leadership to the Marshals Service. The ODDD (sometimes called 'the O3D') set the goals of the Marshals Service & oversee its operations, activities & performance.

Tactical Operations Division: The most well-known and recognizable division of the Alliance Marshals Service. Officers of this division coordinate with and work alongside local law enforcement agencies and the AMS's Investigative Operations Division to execute federal arrest warrants and apprehend fugitives across the numerous territories of the Galactic Alliance.

Investigative Operations Division: The Marshal Service's support division for the officers on the field. Marshals of the IOD aid federal and local task forces as investigators and detectives, gathering information, and assisting in the locating of fugitives and uncovering of illegal operations across the nation. In addition, this division is tasked with managing, collecting, analyzing & disseminating intelligence in the form of informational bulletins, alert notices & foreign travel advisories.

Protective Operations Division: A security division dedicated to the safety of senior government officials, as well as judicial personnel, facilities & proceedings. The Marshals of the Protective Operations Division work alongside other security and law enforcement agencies to anticipate & deter threats to federal and local judiciaries, witnesses, and high-value government officials.

Prisoner Security Division: This division manages and oversees all detention matters pertaining to individuals remanded into the custody of the Alliance Marshal Service. PSD Marshals oversee the security and care of these prisoners to ensure their fair treatment.

Cyber Operations Division: Experts in information technology, cyber security and digital forensics. Cyber Operators ensure that the Alliance Marshal Service's communication and network infrastructures are safe and secure, and pursue and investigate cyber crimes against government agencies & assets.

- Climate: Marshals of the AMS risk their lives daily to protect the citizens and uphold the federal laws of the Galactic Alliance. Pursuing the nation's most wanted fugitives and largest criminal organizations is no easy task, often putting them in great danger. Because of this, Alliance Marshals are forced to rely heavily on the competence of one another. The level of trust in your peers that is necessary to be successful has formed a great sense of comradery throughout the AMS, akin to that found in military service. Alliance Marshals put their lives in the hands of their brothers and sisters, trusting that they would do the same.

- Reputation: While there are some conflicting opinions toward the Alliance Marshals Service, the general attitude is a positive one. Most citizens of the Galactic Alliance hold at least some respect for the existence of a federal law enforcement agency, especially since the Marshals are sent after the "big guys," not low-level street criminals or citizens with minor infractions. The Centrists of the Alliance are typically in favor of them, seeing the AMS as a much needed means of enforcing law and order across the nation. Populists, however, tend to have a more diverse range of opinions. The more libertarian of them lean toward the mindset that a federal law enforcement agency is an infringement on the rights afforded to them by their local planets, while others might accept them as a necessity, but believe precautions must be in place to keep them in check.

- Curios: An Alliance Marshal is quite distinguishable when wearing their field uniform (pictured at the top), but they are not always outfitted accordingly. In case a Marshal is undercover or otherwise not in standard uniform, all members of the Alliance Marshals Service are issued a holo-badge with a verifiable hash code and a gene-locked, encrypted identichip that includes limited personal information such as name and rank, and their status as a federal agent.

- Rules: All members of the Alliance Marshals Service are sworn to obey and uphold the federal laws of the Galactic Alliance and are overseen by the Ministry of Justice to ensure compliance. The Alliance Marshal Service may not take actions that break federal laws under any circumstances. However, Marshals are not bound by local planetary laws. If a local law is not enforced by a federal equivalent and impedes a Deputy Marshal or Marshal's ability to complete their objective, they may choose to disregard it. In these cases, a planetary senator may bring the incidents to the Ministry of Justice to seek punishment if they believe the actions were not justified or appropriate.

- Goals: The goal of the Alliance Marshals Service is to uphold the federal laws of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances. The Marshals Service serves to apprehend wanted fugitives across the nation and to protect the judiciary, members of the government, and federal witnesses.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

With the Core Worlds returning to a state of community under the common banner of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances, there came a need for a singular law enforcement agency capable of upholding federal laws across the Alliance's many star systems. While local law enforcement officers handle the bulk of criminal activity on their planets, the Alliance Marshals Service was established by the Federal Assembly to tackle larger threats to and across the nation as a whole.

Founded shortly after the Galactic Alliance itself, the Alliance Marshals Service is an amalgamation of the Core Alliance's own Marshals Service and divisions of the High Republic's Sector Rangers (with the rest integrating into
INTERSEC). Combining their expertise, knowledge of their respective territories and desire for justice across their combined nations, the now unified forces continue their noble work as a single and effective agency.
