Cannon Fodder
Galactic Alliance Transport Ship
Headed To Kril’Dor
The large expanse of space before Adonis was a sight he had become more familiar with after his first trip off of Jakku. Having spent his entire life on the sandy planet until it was liberated by the Alliance, he hadn’t seen the stars up close. While he still found himself feeling diminutive compared to the sheer size of the galaxy, he was starting to feel more and more comfortable with each destination he visited. The Alliance had taken him across the galaxy in his short time as a soldier. He had been to Coruscant, he had seen the fringes of known space, and he had even met with a few Jedi on remote worlds. However, this time it was a different kind of mission. He was escorting a well-respected Alliance governor to the gas giant Kril’Dor to broker a deal for the mining rights of Tibanna gas.
Normally the governor would be accompanied by a couple Jedi or a few guards, this time however there was a small group of guards protecting the politician. Not because the planet bordered Imperial space, as they were not likely to outright attack a member of the Alliance government. This threat was far less caring of the rules. In the last months, there had been a large spike in pirating and kidnapping in the sector they were traveling to. It was likely caused by both governments who were swallowing up the free space. Likely the mercenaries and other criminals would have to flee soon so they wanted to take whatever they could with them, including ransoming a member of the government. This was Adonis’s first ‘babysitting’ mission as he was told they were called.
It would only be a few more hours before the ship broke out of hyperspace and started its trek to the outpost set up above the gas giant. There was an announcement over the entire ship warning people that they would need to get suited up soon as they had to be battle ready before the dropped out of hyperspace. Thankfully Adonis had already eaten and showered, he would only need to suit up to be ready. After the announcement a small beep sounded from his personal communicator, it was a message from the captain ordering Angelis to appear at the governor’s personal cabin alone. Piquing his interest, Adonis left his bunk, splashed some water on his face and headed directly there.
He appeared at the door to Donavan’s room and pushed the button to use the buzzer. “Sir this is Corporal Adonis Angelis IV, reporting as instructed.” He took his hand from the buzzer and stood at attention, ready to salute the governor when he opened the door. Adonis knew the governor had been a senator before, and also a Major General in his past. The guy was a legend amongst the grunts in the army. It was honestly a starstruck moment for the corporal to be able to meet the man face to face.
