Alpha Mae - a glimpse of the future

Traveling with her family, and Edee was often a trying time, the children became irritated at having to be inside for too long, and Edee did not always take to space as easily as one would hope.

Today was important today, Rianna was setting about to do something that would help the galaxy, to help anyone in need but she needed to convince the people that what she wanted was good.

The ship, The Dancing Thranta turned and rotated to land. They could see the group waiting for them, yes word traveled quickly and it was a good sign to see others.

The government of Alpha Mae was multi level. They had forgone their Monarchy during the Great Plague. The Plague had taken many of those that were considered royal, or of noble birth and it presented the opportunity to move into a government Lead by a Head of State, Deputy, and then Representatives from each of the cities across the planet. Rianna was here to address all of them.

Exiting the ship her children, her riduur [member="Ordo"], and the family pet Edee made quite the site. Observers surely wondered how the peaceful healer had married the Warrior of Clan Ordo.

A woman of a very slight build stepped toward Rianna. The two nodded their greetings, “I am Oona Orso welcome, I will be your guide during your stay with us.

They family would be escorted to a suite of rooms near the Capital Building to wait for the Representatives to be ready to receive them.

Patience a Jedi must have. Within herself Rianna found patience, and calm.

Standing at a window looking across the courtyard she saw the building it waited in silence.

During the Gulag Alpha Mae had begun to trade with the other worlds of the Aldera System, and with Aldera itself. Aldera had been building their classes while Alpha Mae was an established system of government. The Gulag left its mark upon the world but it had not been so ingrained that it could not recover slowly to regain their prosperity.

The Netherworld event had taken millions of citizens in a flash, and brought not only the dead back but living who could not speak the language, understand the culture, or find their way back to their own homes.

A world that had already dealt with millions of off worlders, who had rebuilt their society to accommodate the citizens, this was the kind of world Rianna needed.

A world that could open its arms, and see the value in neutrality, and cutting edge medical facilities that would help anyone.

Capital City – Urbem Prime .

Rianna walked the steps leading to the doors. Behind these doors were the representatives that would decide the fate of her idea.

“woooooo” breathing softly drawing her strength on the force as soon as the doors opened Rianna head high, and a soft rustle of clothing walked to stand before the of politicians.

Politicians often considered the bane of existence for any Jedi.

“Good Morning” her voice filled the room. “I am Rianna Ar’klim-Organa, a Healer, a Doctor, a wife, and a mother.” She could see all the eyes looking at her what were they expecting today, she could feel emotions.

Distrust, yes. Curiosity, definitely.

Rianna smiled, “The Galaxy as I see it has a need that I believe your world can provide.” She had to be careful, be sure to remind them off all the perks.

“I would like to establish several medical facilities, refugee center, and host for peace talks for every one of the Galaxy. Alpha Mae has limited resources when it comes to defense what I am proposing will build defenses of this world, and turn it into a mecca for the injured and displaced.

The murmurings in the room like a wave started from the left and rippled over to the right.

“MandalMedical will bring in the supplies, the Mandalorians will give us two medical frigates, and I intend to ask other companies, and worlds for their support. I would like to see Alpha Mae become neutral in all wars, and political discord.”

She had managed to get it out.

A voice from the back echoed a concern, “What will keep the Sith from coming here?

We will offer peace to them, use of the facilities just as we do any other being that recognized the neutrality of Alpha Mae.”

There was a hissing sound from Rianna’s left, her gaze quickly turned that way, “You would propose that all Sith die, taking their evil with them.” She tilted her head, “it is a finely edged sword that we would wield with this. But if Alpha Mae is neutral, that means everyone gets help. That means creating policies to support neutrality, that means accepting that every ship that docks at the space port, or lands here, is welcome. Alpha Mae would see nothing but those in need of help”

Rianna had fought Sith most of her life, and she knew that they could take a life just as easily as a Jedi. She knew they were power hungry and sought position, but she also knew that they had families that were not sith, were not force users, and those were the ones Rianna grew concerned over. Sith did not traditionally have healers. It would take some convincing but she believed it was possible to do.

“How many refugees are you speaking of?” A voice calm and full of reason asked.

“We would have to send ships, support the evacuation of citizens, and bring them here. Help get them to their families, to find safety, to start over until they can go home. Or some may decide to put them on ships and send them here.” That didn’t go too smoothly, “Would you rather they kill them, space them, enslave them, or send them here?”

Again the murmurs echoed as they each discussed the possibilities.

What I am asking will bring business to Alpha Mae, will bring more citizens, create growth, and provide some with a home that they would not have.”

“Where is the money coming for this again?” A woman’s voice asked.

“Off world companies, on world companies if they desire to contribute.”

A few were nodding, some were still contemplating.

WE do not want to fall under Mandalorian Law.” No doubt they had heard she came with Ordo.

You won’t, neutral standing would mean you remain sovereign in your own right. No one would invade.”

only if you can convince them” Rianna turned to face the Head of State, “You’re right it’s a gamble. I am asking a lot, but think of the millions to be helped, think of what can be gained”

Rianna was like many in her family, she spoke simply, offered what she could, and then asked the questions.

What would be your involvement?”

Rianna smiled, “I would be part of a body of Healers, Doctors, Negotiators, and Business partners that operated the Medical Facility, and Refugee center”

Would you live here?”

Rianna paused, “I would live here part of the time, my duties split between Aldera, Alderaan, Mandalore, and Alpha Mae.” If this went through life would become quite busy again.

Whispers all around hushed and yet so loud they could not be ignored.

You would require land to do this?”

Rianna nodded, “yes we need to build to accommodate the frigates, and shuttles. We would need a larger hospital, and yet there is a part of the city that has become abandoned over the years, I would refurbish and update that part of the city. Beyond the City lies the open water ways, and fields that could be utilized for transportation. There is so much we can do with what you have, but we still need to bring in new cutting edge facilities.”

She tried not to exhale hard, she had expected these questions.

She had made some friends over the years, and she would call upon them to help. But she needed to have the permission of this body to do it.

Master Jedi”

Rianna looked up, “Master Jedi” the voice continued. “let us deliberate this action, and invite you back either for more questions, or our decision”

Rianna nodded, “I thank you for your time today”

Rianna turned and walked back to the rooms.

Later –

The children were restless, “Mom can we go out please…” Rianna looked into those beautiful faces, “Ok..yes…we’ll take Edee for a walk” That was surely to raise some eyebrows. Rianna looked to [member="Ordo"], “coming?”

Her giant of a husband smiled, “No, I’m waiting on word from [member="Ember Rekali"] regarding issues to be faced with…” his voice trailed off.

She understood, the other reason they were here making this proposal now. “Ok, we shall be back” She motioned with her hands, “Ok let’s go

Outside the air was crisp and clean, pollution had not touched Alpha Mae as it had so many other worlds. The sky was blue, in the distance snowcapped mountains surrounded the Capital, the shine of sun on a lake reflected inviting them to come.

Edee put her nose to the air, and groaned from her throat, the kids were running towards what looked like a park at the end of the walkway. Edee bounded after them.

Rianna carefully surveyed the area, she could see a Children’s Hospital, a Hospital that dealt with Critical Care, with Surgical Wards.

A School that trained Doctors, Nurses, Medics. Turning her head she could envision a large building adorned with the flags of the galaxy, a headquarters for peace.

The future of Alpha Mae.

But would it work?

Edee laid on the ground watching the children, the Alderaan Manka Cat last of her kind since the vong forming of Alderaan with her all her ferociousness was the most gentle with the children. Goddess forbid should someone attempt to hurt them.

Edee was also a deterrent to other children, while they would venture close enough to learn the names of Maeve and Dral one look towards Edee and they slowly backed away.

This system was so close to Alderaan well not close but Rianna wondered could there be a breed of cat in the mountains. Could they find a way to bring back the manka? Was there a male in a zoo somewhere that…

She knew Faith was making a deal for two pairs of Thranta for Aldera, would they live? It was a delicate line and the thranta so fragile. Perhaps in time they could restore more of what was once the beauty of Alderaan to its original form.

Aldera would mirror Alderaan in many ways with the Organa Family ruling over each.

Lost in thought Rianna did not realize the wind had picked up, a storm was coming, “Come on let’s head back” The disappointment groans began as the kids wanted to stay but already the smell of rain was coming that was so quick. Rianna noticed that many of the buildings around her had closed up.

Something about Alpha Mae she needed to know…”Let’s go” she urged them a bit more, Edee’s ears turned, listening, The low rumble was not the cat growling but thunder rolling over head, “RUN!” Rianna yelled.

Everyone took off towards the hotel. By time they reached the lobby all we soaked to the skin, the rain came down in torrential downpour. “Wow” When had she seen rain like that last?

This occurence of rain, did this happen all the time?

She asked a young woman standing near her, "Such a harsh storm."

The young woman nodded, "It is, but it is the rain season and happens each day for about an hour, and then it passes over till it sweeps across the planet, and then it's gone"

Rianna nodded, "thank you" Interesting she thought.

The next day she was once again before the governing body.

"Master Jedi, yesterday you did not answer the question, how many refugees?"

Rianna looked around the hall, "I cannot give you a number, it depends on how many need help." Truly they could not expect that she would be a number for them on such a thing, for who knew what was to happen tomorrow. Jedi one might say, but foresight is not accurate so many variables.

Rianna was patient, she had read the night before that it was after the Netherworld events, that the rain season had become so predictable. Something about the event had changed the environment of Alpha Mae. Was there more to know, more to understand in this. She wasn't sure.

But this world was within the region that the she felt was central to all factions, that it would be able to help more people from here, than any other place.

"What I can say is that you offer a unique condition here. You have taken in thousands and created a welcoming place for them, gave them help, sheltered them, fed them, seen to their medical needs. I want to do that too. I want to make Alpha Mae THE place to come for medical care. When there is trouble let Alpha Mae be the planet that ambassadors, Senators, and planetary representatives think of as neutral, as the place to go to be heard fairly."

Rianna shook her head, "Let the refugees come here, they will build your society and planet into one of the leading economies of the galaxy. The artistry, craftmanship, music, and technology that can all be centralized here. Alpha Mae can be a mecca for peace"

It was a grand vision for certain.

"What you ask can also have add great risk to Alpha Mae. For years we have been content to be silent here, to do what we can for who we can. You ask us to step from the shadows and into the limelight"

Rianna nodded, "Yes. I do. Because there are not enough places like Alpha Mae that seeks only to help."

She looked around, "Please consider the advantages as well. Yes there is risk, there are pitfalls, but I think the Galaxy is ready to see this. and what could it hurt to try?"
