Nick Sept
Worst Ghost in the Galaxy
"Esteemed ladies and gentlemen of the senate," Nick Sept, clone turned soldier turned vigilante turned senator, a man with more titles than any fellow ought to have before he turned twenty, at least chronologically--biologically was another matter--began to speak in his booth. A small holosign lit up under him, noting his title of Senator of Cartao.
"It is an honor to speak with those assembled. An honor that I would not have been ranted, had it not been for those who would show mercy in the right time. I was a soldier, and I am a clone. I was bred, by my makes in the government formerly know as the CIS, for the purpose of war. For reasons of my own, I joined the Republic army, hoping that my experience could give me the opportunity to make the lives of clones under the Republic banner better than it was under the Confederacy's reign," he said nodding calmly.
"After Lasedri's failed coup, it became abundant that the rights of clones, and their usage as armed forces, continues to disenfranchise them. While he have affirmed in our declarations to not support slavery, we have commissioned, bred, and demanded the existence of an entire army, with no concern to its own individuality or rights. Worse yet, chips were implanted in their brains, in order to control them!" He slammed his fist on the table, a dramatic and sincere gesture. He was angry. Who wouldn't be mad? What reasonable man or woman would say it was fair that these clones were born simply to serve Republic interests, but then were forcibly given puppet strings to ensure their false loyalty? It was an outrage to any sentient being who claimed to believe in rights for the common people of the galaxy. It was an outrage.
"As a clone," He said, clearing his throat, "No, as a citizen of the Republic, I implore my fellow senators to consider the amendment I have proposed, an addition to the text of Resolution 6240" He brought the original document on the central display so other could view it. He put his addendum beneath it:
He gave the others a few moments to upload the document. "Gentlebeings of the Republic, I come to you as a clone, asking that my brothers and sisters be allowed to be free men, and have their rights universally recognized. I do not demand vengeance, or legal penalty, for those who created us. However, I do demand that we as a republic acknowledge what our hubris has done. Clone armies are given no choice, no opportunity. They are raised as soldiers, sent to dies as soldiers, and rarely allowed the legal agency to removes themselves form the role without fear of being tried for insubordination. I must demand this, Senators. Let my people go. Let them be at peace. Let every clone decide their own fate. Some of them will likely remain in the military, some of them may not. But they deserve to have their rights affirmed, with the same level we have done before. We deserve that," he said, his tone turning slightly wistful.
He waited to see who would agree. Who would oppose. This was not merely a measure of the Senate's will to act, it was a measure of his own status. In their eyes, was he a person? Were the clones that fought for and against them on Chazwa people? Or simply munitions? He'd have his answer today.
(OOC: I have tagged a few non-senators who I felt may wish to bear witness to this for personal reasons)

"Whereas the right of Sentients include and demand a freedom from slavery in order to allow democratic freedom for those in the galaxy,
And whereas clones are deemed sentient individuals, free to pursue their own path in the galaxy,
Let it be resolved that the government of the Republic never again demands the usage of cloned sentients conscripted into service, either for military use or elsewise.
And let it be further resolved that the usage of mass cloning for military conscription be viewed in the same context, both legally and morally, as enslavement.
And let it also be resolved that all clones created by the Republic, it's members, it's institutions, or within its borders, are free to pursue their own lives as full citizens of the Republic, in accordance with the laws of the Republic, including, but not limited to miltary, civil, and public service.
And let it be finally resolved that every clone wishing to stay within the territory of the Republican government shall be granted the full privileges of citizenship, including military benefits for those who have served within the armed forces, and a right to vote for representatives in their offices."
