  • Rane revealed at an early stage of his life a great sense of curiosity that seemingly could not be sated. As a kid his dream was to travel the entire galaxy, and see every planet and meet every species there was. He was always bothering his elders with question, particularly when foreign customs were concerned. Rane just couldn't get enough, and was always the first in line to sign up for a mission to a world he had never set foot on before. It did not matter how boring or tedious the task was. While his childhood dream naturally was an impossible quest to complete, it did help him discover the joy he found in learning new languages. Sadly, the life of a Jedi is a busy one and he has not had as much time devoted to it as he would have liked.

Rane took his calling seriously, and never shied away from duty. His sociable personality had his teachers peg him for a diplomat, but he quickly showed himself to be a fighter of great potential. The question of course became, would he ever live up to it? At the very least he was set on a good path.

He became the Padawan of Eloi Grax. Eloi was a hard master, but just the sort to get a young Rane riled up and eager to impress. The Chagrian taught him to be flexible, and see each situation for what it was without being blinded by rigid dogma. Rules were there for a reason, but to obey them without reflection was to do a disservice to those who might wrongfully suffer under it. Rane could sense his master felt alienated from the Jedi Order, which pained him, but on the flip side it came with the benefit of a lot of travel, most of their time spent away from the familiar Silver Jedi core worlds.

Later in his career as a Jedi Knight, Rane, who perhaps was inspired by his individualistic master, began working mainly with the Jedi Shadows. Most of the time he was sent out on missions alone. While working with the Shadows, Rane was exposed to much suffering, and got to see the worst of what the galaxy had to offer. In many ways it made him harder, killing the idealist inside him for the more measured pragmatist he grew into.

After a particularly challenging mission, his cover was blown. Maintaining it would have come at the cost of innocent lives lost, and it was a price he had not been willing to pay. Deaths were avoided, and many who had been destined for a life of slavery became free, but his chance of uncovering the mystery behind an organization known as the Karazak Slavers Cooperative suffered a major setback. Rane did not regret his actions. It would have gone against his beliefs to act in any other way. However, this saw an end to his work with the Silver Shadows, at least for a time. Now he returned to Commenor to find his purpose anew.

  • Rane is a tall, powerfully built Kel-Dor. His skin is a light yellowish orange, reminiscent of amber or honey. He has black eyes with silver irises, a mark among his people that was often seen as an affinity for the Force. Following their strange facial structure, his nose falls within a gaping opening that descends to the mouth, a toothless chasm with drooping fleshy strands. This part will be covered up by his mask, softening his features from the eyes of the more normative near-humans. Framing his head are the extrasensory organs which transitions into a pair of black tusks.

As typical with Kel Dor, Rane uses a special antiox breath mask. This was something forced upon his race in order to survive away from Dorin's unique atmosphere. The mask also helps amplify Rane's voice. The design of Rane's mask is slender and minimalist in that it covers what it has to but little else. The colour is a darkened silver. Additionally, the mask comes with protective goggles. The mask itself reduces the oxygen level to one which is tolerable by Kel Dor physiology, while the goggles shield the wearer's eyes from harmful effects created by exposure to oxygen.

Rane is very rarely, if at all, seen outside of his traditional Jedi robes and tunics, or some kind of armour. He believes that as a Jedi Master he is required to always be on duty and prepared. As such, a deviation from his usual pattern indicates it is a requirement of a certain mission, not personal preference. Rane has worn many a costume and disguise following his work with the Jedi Shadows.
  • Strengths and Weaknesses
+Diplomatic - Rane is mild-mannered, and quite easily gets along with most people. Though a lifetime of experience as a Jedi has made his body hard, his personality naturally leans towards diplomacy. He takes great joy in the complexity of languages, and as a result has devoted a lot of his free time into learning foreign languages and studying their origin culture.
+Master - The title of Jedi Master is not one easily obtained, and he has by all rights earned his rank. Years of training, experience in the field, he has been tried and tested. While this comes with a greater understanding of the Force, his focus has always leaned towards lightsaber combat and a selected few Force powers he specializes in.

~Kel Dor - His species is known for possessing heightened reflexes, a result of the extrasensory organs in their heads.

-Flipside of the Coin - As a Jedi Master, he has naturally shown great potential, yet he has focused his attention on mastering the basics along with a few key skills. This leaves him less versatile, and exposed when forced outside of his comfort zone. Healing, for example, is a field he has little to no knowledge of.
-Weight of the World - rests heavy on his shoulders. With great power comes great responsibility, yet Rane does not accept his limitations. He always seeks to help those in need, at his own expense, and will glady sacrifice himself if it can lead to a greater good. There is no death, there is the Force.
