The stench of fumes filled the streets and nearby cantinas, hanging to the air like thick tar. Legal and illegal services crammed the packed street with vendors, bounty hunters and everything under the sun being available if you knew where to look, and had the credits to pay. It certainly wasn't the sort of place for the unprepared to be walking around, lest they wanted to cross paths with some of the more ruthless beings in the galaxy.

Yet some were drawn here for the thrill, and for the unique products that you could only get in the lower levels. Xena happened to be one of those lucky shoppers. The Firrerreo kept to herself, weaving in and out of the crowds much like a fish climbing up a stream. A dark granite grey hood and sweater clung to the girl, hiding her features from view, though she remained as an odd beacon of the lightside. Most ignored the feeling of it as their senses weren't attuned to the machinations of the force, instead they just enjoyed the brief calm before the chaos returned to gnaw at them.

The girl had a set goal though, keeping her wits about her she counted the alleyways, each marked off so that the denizens could find their way through the labyrinth of the compact lower levels.

"One ten... one eleven... one twelve.. one thirteen," she murmured under her breath, though it was easily drowned out by the hustle and bustle around her.

She had a ways to go it felt like, passing all manner of street bars, and actual cantinas the further she went down. Part of her wondered what she was getting into, she just hoped her tip on the dealer was good. She didn't want to think about what would happen if it didn't. Idly Xena fiddled with her wrist sheath that hid under the baggy sleeve of her top, at least that offered her some sense of protection in the hostile environment.

"One twenty... and here we go.."

Ahead of her a simple neon sign hung above a bustling cantina. If the customers on the outside were any indication, this was not going to be a friendly place. Xena pulled her sweater on a bit tighter before stepping in, hoping to not catch the eyes of the crowd. She slipped her way to the edges. This wasn't the actual location where she was going to get what she was after, she had a hunch though that asking around wouldn't end up with any good results. So she waited, ordering herself something small to drink. Taking time to mull over the past, the future, and where the heck she was going down here.

No matter what point in her life she'd be, Vaylin would always find time to simply explore some new area or location. When she was younger, the Zabrak had been confined to the grounds of her family manor. Hours of days spent learning, training without barely a break. As a child she would gaze out of the window and imagine just exploring the large open fields, or getting lost in the surrounding forests.

So when she finally had her freedom; taken from her home and to the Jedi, she didn't waste a second in exploring the galaxy.

Albeit it provided numerous headaches for her master at the time. Always wandering off while on a mission because she got sidetracked by some amazing sight or another. Didn't have to be anything spectacular, just something that caught Vaylin's eye. But even then she was restricted, as the Jedi generally were when it came to true freedom. Then she was abandoned on Dxun, and left to her own devices trying to survive every day and night until she was familiar with things.

The jungles had eventually become her home, where she could navigate a decent size portion of the terrain with very little issue.

All of that though, had a rather detrimental effect when she was finally taken away from the jungle.

She easily got lost in cities, and not even city-planets - just any ordinary city. So somewhere like Maena's New CIty was a maze to the Zabrak. At the very least though, she had managed to find a cantina on Level Two-Seventy. At this level of the city, crime was running rampant around most street corners. It was a type of chaos Vaylin enjoyed, but it was currently battling the fact she was currently lost.

Utterly and completely lost...

Right now, Vaylin remained in her little corner sipping away her drink. Mentally, she was trying to backtrack the steps she had taken to get here. But every time she tried to get too far, it just fell back into a chaotic mess of twists and turns. The Zabrak sighed, throwing a glare to someone who was able to side into the seat opposite her. They quickly moved away.

But before Vaylin could return to her thoughts, she picked up a familiar presence entering the establishment. It was impossible not to recognize her, after having seen her the first time - surrounding by much darker presences at the time. With drink in hand, Vaylin slid out of her booth and glided over to Xena's table. Without missing a beat, she took seat opposite the younger woman.

"Well now, what's someone like you doing down here?" Vaylin asked, a smirk forming as she pulled her jacket's hood back a bit - revealing her face.

[member="Xena Amonali"]

Xena broke out of her thoughts, amber eyes drifting over the being that had sat down before her. A faint glimmer of recognition spread across her face, shoulder slouching down as she relaxed. [member="Vaylin"] certainly wasn't the first person that Xena had thought she'd meet down in the hazy cantina, though she couldn't say that it was a bad thing. Sitting a bit more upright, she placed her arms onto the table, clasping her hands together and interlocking her fingers.

"I would ask you the same thing. It's.. Vaylin right?" her voice was softer than usual, just audible over the constant thrum of the cantina.

A smile split along her face. She thought about how to answer Vaylin's question, though she wasn't here for something illegal, it would still be hard to get anyways. Ignoring the hustle and bustle of the criminals and low lifes around her, she responded fully to Vaylin.

"I'm here to do a bit of shopping," her voice was steady and calm. "Mostly for information and for some.. harder to get items that you can only find in these lower levels."

Xena idly checked her sleeve, making damn sure the dagger she had was still hidden in its sheath on her wrist. Feeling it gave her comfort, better to have something to defend yourself with than nothing at all. Quickly checking over her watch, she had only a bit longer until her contact was supposed to arrive to give her the actual location for the deal... if he arrived at all that is.

Xena had always interested Vaylin, from the basic fact of how she had ended up being at that The Black Feather that night. But also, because her very presence in the Foce intrigued her. There was something about it, with how it say within the middle of neither Light or Dark.

But every so often, Vaylin could see it leaning towards one side.

As though it was waiting for something to tip the rest of the way over.

"That's right, and I'm just down here exploring." And getting lost, which more often than not was the case when Vaylin was dealing with a maze like complex like Maena's New City. Despite that though, she had made some interesting observations and made contact with a few potential hopefuls.

There was always a good reason to make friends amongst those truly integrated into a planet's society. Although it required a lot of vetting to ensure no one was going to backstab her. Which was par the course most of the time, especially when it came to criminals.

It was an amusing thought, trying to compare the immoral tendencies of them against that of the Sith.

"So what exactly is it you're looking for, Xena?" She was genuinely curious about it too. What in the Force could she need down in crime central?

Vaylin waved over one of the tenders, ordering a drink and making it clear that she wasn't intending to leave any time soon.

[member="Xena Amonali"]

Idly she sipped her drink, it was nice to have a calm, pleasant conversation for once. They seemed to be too far and few for the girl's liking. The hustle and bustle of the cantina drowned out their conversation from prying ears.

"I'm looking for a new weapon.. and information on a certain.. saber crystal. I'd read about it during my time.. well... with the jedi. No one knew where it could be found, some even called me crazy. But.. some people here are sellers of information, they said they have a lead, and it could send me in the right direction"

Her voice held a hidden excitement. It was hard to hold back when something she had wanted for a long time was so close to her grasp.

Yet, in her head one of the other voices spoke up. It was smooth, like silk, and held a coldness to it that was uncommon for the girl.

Just remember... you can't trust anyone fully.. not this.. vaylin.. and certainly not the scum of this level. Remember, we look out for ourselves.. and Miss Ven.. she helped save us remember, and we owe her the trust and loyalty that comes with it.

Xena seemed to drift off in thought, it wouldn't be long before the seller contacted her, though something, beyond her inner voice, was telling her that this wouldn't be as easy as it seemed. Taking a large swig of the acrid drink, she spoke once more to the woman before herself.

"I'm just waiting for a contact to comm me. It wouldn't hurt to.. eh.. have someone else there"

The offer was clear, it was just up to [member="Vaylin"] if she wanted to accept or not.

Vaylin watched Xena speak, noted how the young woman acted at the same time. It was almost like a hunter and its prey, but the Zabrak had no insidious intentions for the Firrerreo.

Not right now at least. She was more interested in knowing more about Xena and what better way than shadowing her. Most especially in the lower levels of Maena's New City.

"That's a good mindset to have, Xena. Some might call you crazy, but if there's a hint then it's usually worth looking into it." Vaylin finished off her first drink, just in time as the tender finally returned with a new one that he placed in front of her.

The Zabrak took a sip, eyes glancing up over the rim as she saw Xena's attention seemingly slip away from reality.

She was tempted to click her fingers, drawing the young woman back. However, Vaylin reminded observant, watching as Xena grew more lost in thought until she finally snapped out of it.

Vaylin grinned slightly, nodding her head in response.

"I think I'll stick around, help you out." She was fairly familiar with criminal types, and if Xena was going to be contacting someone down here - then there was no doubt that person would be no different. Vaylin wasn't sure whether the Firrerreo had dealt with them before; criminals in general. Either way, she was going to remain, silent and only acting if need be.

A smile crept across the girl's face. It was good to know someone had her back. Something was nagging at the back of her mind though, making her wonder if she forgot something.

The thought didn't last long as the commlink in her pocket began to ring. Sliding the device out, she answered the call. Her lips moved in a hushed whisper which was easily drowned up by the growing crowd. Some of the beings around them were growing unruly, to say the least. The drinks were flowing as the nightlife picked itself up into high speed. Xena merely spoke in her hushed whisper, the commlink she had picked up was peculiarly not by her ear. With a small nod she pressed a button on the side of the small device, stuffing it back into her pocket.

"Time to go. My contact said he's nearby."

She got herself up, motioning for Vaylin to follow. She was putting a lot of trust into everyone involved in this deal, though she was unable to shake the feeling she was making a mistake. Sifting through the crowd, the two made their way towards an entrance on the other end of the cantina. Feeling her sleeve, the blade still tucked in its sheath, it helped to calm her nerves a bit. Her form exhumed it's usual neutral light aura, though the machinations within her mind kept whirring along in other ways.

The walk took them through much of the level, closer towards some abandoned alley's. Xena counted them in her head, all the while listening to the cold, calculating voice that shared her conscious

"You know... this could end terribly. And I won't be able to get your sorry ass out of this one."

"I know.. you're limited by me. But it's a lead, we need to follow a lead if it brings us closer to the goal... right?"

The other voice in her mind remained silent after that, she could hear a few others rummaging around in her conscious but she paid them no mind. Her goals were set, and that was that.

Rounding a bend into an opening to their left, the two were met with a group of strangers of varying sizes. For the most part, they seemed well armed and they weren't afraid of hiding it. Vibroblades, blasters and other deadly weapons hung from their belts and across their backs. They meant business. A large human stepped forwards, his face weathered by the conditions. He looked no older than his early to mid 30's, in his hand he held a DC-15 Blaster, primed at the ready. He appeared to be wearing some armour modeled in the likeness of a mandalorian's beskar'gam. His colleagues, on the other hand, wore an assortment of armour and cloth. With a chuckle, he glanced over the two who had walked into his alley. The others seemed to be on alert, each well armed, as if looking for a fight.

"Well, well well. What do we 'ave 'ere?" He spoke with a grin; voice like rough sandpaper, "Two pretty lil' things walking around my alley? Don'tcha know it's dangerous 'ere?" The man had a very predatory gaze to him, as if he was admiring some prizes to be won. His voice had a very thick accent to it, something more akin to a highlander or a rough rider than anything else.

Xena got the sense something was very wrong, her amber eyes peering just past the group. Slumped on the ground, blood around him, was her seller, and her contact. She took in a quick breath, the putrid scent of the alley filling her nose and nearly making her gag. The heavy hints of iron that clung to the air like relentless stain further emphasized how bad things were about to go. Her hand slipped into her sleeve, removing the dagger from it's sheath, letting the cool metal rest firmly on her grasp.

The leader of the group acted as if he hadn't noticed the movement, starting to carry on. "You two lookin' for somethin'? Maybe this?" He flicked up two fingers, held firmly between them was a datachip. Given how cocky he was, Xena was certain that the chip had the info she wanted.

"No.. I won't lose this now, not when I'm so close"

The firrerreo rushed forwards towards the group, blade out.

Time seemed to slow to a crawl as the girl ran, the sound of a blaster rifle going off with the heavy scent of ozone filing the air. As quickly as the conflict had started, it ended. A clatter of metal filled the street as Xena's vibroblade impacted the concrete below. It was followed by a dull thud as she tripped over herself, sliding hard onto the ground. The nauseating scent of burnt flesh hung in the enclosed corridor. Xena remained twitching on the ground for a moment, the shot had hit her close to her heart. It was an odd sight, seeing the raggedly breathing girl slowly starting to bleed on the ground, her lost vitae making the thugs step back. They didn't want any evidence upon themselves.

Everything remained quiet, people at the edge of the alley ran to find something, anything. Other onlookers merely shook their heads, as if seeing another one go wasn't news to them. The main thug wiped off his shirt where a small splatter had landed, tutting to himself. "Stupid girl... ah well.. take 'em both boys. I'm sure the market'll love 'em". Before [member="Vaylin"] could react she could her muscles locking up, spasming and forcing her down, unable to move as her body tried its best to deal with the stun bolt. As she landed she probably saw the man behind, an orange twi'lek holding a blaster set to stun.

With the two "Down" the leader of the group, obviously slavers, began to comm out, as if bartering with another individual on the other end of the line. Xena was left in a state that would be death for most, and yet, vaylin could see that the girl was still breathing.

She could also sense, an off growing darkness from somewhere in the alley. It clung to the force like a smog blanketing the senses of those sensitive to its musings. Where it was coming from, made no sense, though it was easily snuffing out any "Light" Xena had been making.

The Zabrak quirked an eyebrow, watching in silence as Xena answered her commlink. How the girl could even manage to speak through the racket around them, Vaylin didn't know. But it seemed Xena managed and eventually ended the call.

Vaylin finished her drink before she got up and followed the Firrerreo. She noticed the slight adjustment, checking and ensuring her hidden dagger was still there. It amused the Zabrak somewhat, as she had her own pair of blades hidden beneath her jacket.

She had deliberately left her lightsabers back on her ship, the reason?

They were too much of a danger, especially in the depths of Maena's New City.

Sure, they were an intimidating factor seeing them on someone, but it also painted a target on your back. Not everyone was afraid of a Jedi, Sith or something inbetween. And Vaylin had no doubt there were people here that were capable of disabling a Force User.

The Force however, was a very handy thing. It warned her something was off seconds before it occured, unfortunately it wasn't an attack, but rather an ambush. They turned into a corner only to walk right into a pack of goons. Vaylin turned around, but halted when she saw another lot blocking their way back.

Vaylin didn't respond to anything the thugs said, rather she looked around trying to size them up and find a weakness. That was until Xena suddenly burst into a ran, aimed towards the supposed leader.

She went to yell, to warn the girl not to do anything drastic. But then the blaster was fired and struck the Firrerreo.

Chit, Xena!

Vaylin moved in, hands reaching for her daggers only to suddenly lock up. She gritted her teeth in pain, feeling volts course through her body. She didn't fall however, and instead let out a raspy growl.

The pain fueled her, churning with the Dark as she attempted to overcome her body locking up.

"Uh boss, this one ain't going down..."

"Then shoot 'er again!"

But even that couldn't stop the effects of a second stun, which sent her crashing to the ground. Vaylin looked over; the only thing she could do right now, and saw that Xena was still breathing. Part of her was debating how that was possible, the shot should've been lethal - at least that's what she believed.

"Come now, little lamb, let me free."

The voice gnawed into her consciousness, with its sweet, singsong tones. It weaved its invisible fingers around her mind and body, teasing her with its offer.

"Let me just show them what WE can do"

It grew more insistent, a turning into a bit of a growl. The voice knew her resistance was slipping, soon it could slake it's thirst for blood. Soon it could show these thugs the meaning of pain.

"Let me just unleash hell and have my fun."

Xena was unsure if she could resist it for much longer. Yet she knew that if she just lay there, that her and [member="Vaylin"] were destined for something far worse than getting shot.

"You.. have your fun... but leave Vaylin alone."

An electric jolt of excitement rushed through her, one of the other residents of her mind had taken over, and they were going to enjoy their time out.

"I'll leave them alone.. but first! Let's break some toys~"

The thugs were none the wiser to what was going on, having stepped over what they assumed was Xena's corpse, they went to Vaylin, inspecting her like hunters who just took down their prey. They laughed at her locked up state, the Twi'lek with the blaster even gave Vaylin yet stun shot, just to make sure she stayed down. To them this was a game, no one would dare to stop their group, they were armed and had numbers. Numbers, however, wouldn't be able to save them.

From behind the group Xena rose up to her feet, the light she had been was replaced with a pit, devoid of calm. The unnatural air caused shivers up the spines of those nearby. From what Vaylin could see, Xena's flesh was mending itself at an unparalleled rate, stitching itself back whole again. The girls dark hair hung down infront of her face, her hands hanging at her side. It was as if she was a marionette held up by a puppeteers strings. The thugs took a bit longer to notice the girl standing back up again, one of the ones that had blocked the end of the alley had his mouth agape, he'd seen her get shot and fall. She should be either dying, or dead. Not standing behind them. He lifted up a hand, pointing back behind the leader, arm shaking like a branch in an autumn wind.

"S-sir? The other one.. she's.." the unease in the coward's tone was evident. It seems like he wasn't used to something they had shot just getting back up.

Turning his head back, the leader chuckled a bit, he felt the unease in the air, putting it off to the level and planet. With a cold, steady grip he raised his blaster up again, blasting a shot right into Xena's chest. It smoked and sizzled with the burning flesh, sending her back a few paces. Without even confirming the kill, the leader turned himself away, giving his men a motion to grab Vaylin and get going. "Bring that one's corpse alo-" he paused his orders, standing very still as a small, girly laugh came from behind him. It grew in volume, filling the ears of those nearby, it was not a normal laugh, it remained akin to the giggles that came from some horror videos. It's origin? The girl who had just been shot twice.

She stood there as an over head light began to flicker, only now did the thugs notice the flesh weaving itself back to its prior state. Reversing the damage they had done. Xena just raised up her hand, crimson along her fingers. Her smile dropped as she examined the red liquid that stained her, now silvery, skin.

"It seems my new toys want to play rough." A long, visible smile crossed her face, slightly elongated canines showing to the assembled party. "If that's the case.. then let's play rough." she ended it by closing her hand. A harsh whine filled the air as the nearby lights began to pop and burst from a growing pressure that threatened to consume the alley. These goons had no clue what they had just done.

"What are you idiots doing? Stop standing there! Take her down!" two of the thugs with vibroblades stepped towards the regenerating marionette of a girl. They raised the weapons up to slash down at her, the blades coming mere millimeters from contact. Yet they stopped, frozen, as a loud cracking echoed throughout the flicking light of the darkened corridor. What chased it could only be described as the throat tearing screams of twin banshees. Beings within the cramped space and just outside of it froze in horror, curious on lookers appalled as Xena lifted up her hands, twisting the men like a child playing roughly with its stuffed animals. Their bones popped, snapped, and broke as if mere twigs. The torturous scene continued on as no one was willing or able to move, paralyzed in shock and in fear. The broken men clung to life, at least until Xena decided that she was through with them.

Crunch!

The ferrocrete of the nearby buildings cracked as what remained of the two men was shoved into either side of the alleyway. A dark mist covered the area around the girl, painting her in flecks of red. Some of the thugs, coming to their senses, turned to run. They realized much too late that it was far too late to flee. Now, it was time to play.

Some of them broke out of their shocked state, running at her like lambs to the slaughter. Xena, of course, was happy to oblige their wishes. Moving from fighter to fighter, she showed off a prowess as she mixed the force and hand to hand combat in a ballet of carnage. Each movement was done to an invisible beat; strikes deliberate and aimed to cause as much damage as possible. Moving from person to person she made sure to do break them down and finish them quickly. A single slaver ran towards Xena, blade outstretched towards her throat. Without too much effort she ducked the blade, her open palm flying over to the man's chest, though the impact wasn't harsh or deadly like her other ones. With a gruff laugh he swung the blade back towards the girl. All she needed with a bit of a push to paint the walls with his organs. To others watching, it was as if his back just exploded from an unseen force, his entire chest cavity suddenly devoid of substance. The blade fell to the ground with a gritty metal clang. She wasn't done, not by a long shot. The remaining thugs tried to make a run for it, even if they knew it was futile.

Blood painted the bleak walls in their vibrant hue of red. Choked cries of help falling onto deaf ears, no one wanted to get involved. Though some of those on the outside muttered amongst themselves that this was karma coming to collect its debt. They dared not step close, merely closing their buildings and hiding away. Xena's laughed in glee as she ripped the thugs apart, one by one. Dragging them back into the alleyway screaming their blood murder only to be silenced as they were crushed. She, of course, left the best for last. The leader only watched in stunned horror as each and every being under his charge was ripped to pieces and brutalized by the girl he had shot only moments before. He clicked out of his stupor when the yellow Twi'lek cried out next to him, the poor man held up in the air by his lekku. With a shaky expression, he turned his head to his ally, only to see the twi'lek's head get snapped around backwards like a top, his body crumpling lifeless onto the ground. He tried to step back, nearly tripping over Vaylin, who was sadly stuck in the center of the blood bath. Gone was the man's bravado. What replaced it was a primal fear, the fear of a prey realizing it was stuck. That it had no where to go. Xena just stepped around Vaylin close to the man who tried his best to run. In a burst of speed the girl jumped up, landing onto the mans back with a resounding crack. That was going to break a few ribs. Her hands reached down, clawing into his hair as she lifted his head up. Moving closer to his head, she whispered to him.

"Whoops.. I broke all of my toys... oh well.. that was a fun game~"

As the man began to curse her with every single word he could think of under the sun, she finished her work. Applying her palms to the sides of his head, the force began to flow in and around them. His cursing turned to yells of pain, cries of mercy and then ultimately silence. His head, however, made a resounding crunch as the force applied pressure all along his skull, crushing it inwards. Some would akin what happened to applying too much pressure to a blueberry. His skull simply popped splattering brains across the ground in a bloody mess.

It was over, almost as soon as it began. Xena was left panting in the spilled vita of those that nearly took her and Vaylin away. She leaned down and snatched the datachip from the leader's coat. Her light slowly returning to her as exhaustion set its dark talons into her form. She had used more energy than anticipated, this would take some time to recover from. The girl dropped to her knees, even as her contact got up, still in his bloodied beaten state and ran, babbling like he had just seen a death himself knocking at his door. Onlookers merely whispered to themselves of the massacre that occurred, none dared to get closer, lest they reawaken the murderous fury that had been set loose.

Vaylin couldn't even grit her teeth as she tried to struggle against the paralysis. It was bad enough she had been hit by one blast, but two had completely locked her body up. The only good thing, was the fact their attackers seemed to have no idea she was a Force user. Already she was slowly bringing her body back under her own control; to overcome the paralysis.

It appeared deciding to not have her lightsabers out on display was a smart idea after all.

Now, she needed to figure out a way to-

The Zabrak's thoughts were cut short when she felt a dark presence suddenly flow out across the area. It moved; as though drawn towards something, moving over the Zabrak leaving her alone. Vaylin couldn't see much from her angle, but she could still hear the panicked murmurings of the goons surrounding them. She just about made out the shape of one of them, standing at one of the exits pointing towards something in her rough direction.

What was he pointing a-

"It seems my new toys want to play rough."

That sounded like Xena, but even Vaylin knew something was amiss with that voice.

She watched as a number of the goons ran past her and towards where she presumed Xena was currently. If Vaylin was able to, she'd shake her head. The fools should've been running in the opposite direction, that was the smart move in this situation. Although, something told the Zabrak it wouldn't have even mattered. Whatever had taken a hold of Xena, wasn't going to let them go.

From there it was just a mixture of brutal sounds and the occasional body getting tossed over and into Vaylin's view. They were getting torn apart, although not literally in some cases. Slowly, Vaylin regained control of her body, managing to move her limbs. That was when he last of the goons attempted to flee, almost tripping over the Zabrak as he tried to backpedal. Vaylin's eyes followed as Xena stepped around her, pursuing the man like a hunter after its prey. She had a front row seat as the young girl quite literally popped the man's head like a balloon, further marring the alleyway with more gore.

At this point Vaylin was able to stand up, and slowly walked over to the now crouched form of Xena. She met the younger woman's eyes as she stood up to her full height, and the Zabrak grinned.

"I have to say Xena, I'm impressed. Didn't know you had it in you."

Had this been what she had sensed from the beginning? Vaylin wasn't entirely sure, but she was admittedly eager to find out.

"Come on, let's get out of here before any authorities show up."

Which down on this level, would just be more goons and thugs.
