- Landmark Name: Amroth Valley
- Classification: Coastal Valley
- Location: Council
- Affiliation: Nothoiin Colony/Noble Court
- Size: Large
- Population: Moderate
- Demographics:
- Accessibility: Waypoint's spaceport is small but transport services are available from Enclave, the more cosmopolitan political capital of Council which is an hour away by shuttle. Despite its rustic nature passage throughout the valley is available via aircab or landspeeder.
- Description: The Amroth Valley is a well known planetary province off the Wayward Coast. It is known for its rich agricultural land and tydirium in the hills although by now the mines have been exhausted for centuries. Most of the region's commerce today is focused on the city of Waypoint along the Pontus Delta but between coastal fishers and inland farmers the valley remains a local breadbasket.
- Wayward Coast: Forming a natural harbor along the valley edge this stretch of coastline's beneficial geography is why it was settled so long ago by some of the first nothoiin colonists. Named for the Wayward Sea which it borders the coast is considered one of Council's natural wonders.
- Waypoint: Coastal city and urban heart of the province. Waypoint is small but very old and most well known for the Adviser temple which trains the Noble Court's mystic scholars. There is a small regional spaceport here with access to the planet's capital where one can find offworld transit.
- The Heartlands: A scattered chain of even smaller villages and townships throughout the valley. Many are rural farming communities but some larger communities along the river double as very minor commercial centers. Its most well known landmark is Amroth Castle, ruins once occupied by the old nobility but now abandoned for decades.
- The River Pontus: Flowing down from the mountains and out into the Wayward Sea the Pontus is another regional lifeline which aided settlement and provides convenient irrigation for many farmsteads in the valley. Not far from the castle Hadrian Falls drops the river down to near sea level in preparation for its final journey to the Pontus Delta.
- Thorn Hills: The Thorn Hills along either side of the valley have a cursed repute. The Old Mines are exhausted but rumors persist of untapped tydirium veins that have driven locals mad including one Duke in their search.
One of the first sites colonized by an expedition from Nothoiin over one thousand years ago. Due to deteriorating environmental conditions on their homeworld during the Clone Wars the nothoiin species eventually moved their seat of government to the planet's nearby capital city Enclave. Amroth Valley remains a vital outlying region for its fertile soil and coastal access. Once tydirium deposits were discovered in the hills Waypoint grew during the ore rush into an urban center in its own right. Sometime very early in Council's settled history the Advisers constructed their temple library Candlekeep, some scholars even contend that the temple predates the city.
For generations the Noble Court reigned over not just Council but the entire sector until they were driven into exile by the rise of Palpatine's Galactic Empire. Although they would join the Rebel Alliance in overthrowing their conquerors the nothoiin nobility never fully regained their old political power and instead like many Core nobles stepped aside in favor of the Nothoiin Colony's democratic rule. In their last desperate years the Court even went so far as to elevate several alien families into the aristocracy which included the human dukes of Amroth Castle. The last Duke of Amroth was Duke Zek whose only heir renounced his claim to study with the Advisers in the early 830s ABY.
