An Afternoon in the Galactic City

320px-CoruscantUW-ST.jpg

The Galactic City, Coruscant.
4:30 pm Standard Galactic Time.

Corellian Ale. It was definitely one of Brunswick's favorite alcoholic beverages of all times. He was quite fond of the ale's sweet flavor, and he loved it the first time he tried it back when he was in college in Kuat. Darren Brunswick gave a polite smile to the bar tender as he was handed his Corellian Ale over the bar table. After paying the bar tender with the credits, Senator Brunswick chugged down his glass of ale, before making his way back out of the bar. It wasn't everyday a Galactic Senator came to drink a glass of Corellian Ale down in a bar within the grounds of the Galactic City. But today he got a day off, so he decided that he'd spend his afternoon touring the Galactic City. Security measures had been implemented, of course. He was under the cover of his hood, and if he had heard correctly, there were apparently two or three of his personal guards out there somewhere, keeping a watch on him.

He had taken his own personal luxury speeder down to the Galactic City. After all, he hadn't gotten much use of out of that expensive vehicle lately. It did not have any weapons equipped on it, but it was pretty darn fast, and he had found that out himself when he had cranked up the throttle the first time he took a ride on it. As Brunswick walked slowly out of the bar, he glanced at his parked speeder to make sure it was still there. He then proceeded to go sit himself on one of the street benches and enjoyed the view of the city as busy air traffic bustled infront of him. Maybe he didn't feel it, or perhaps he may have been slightly drunk to notice, that his hood had fallen off of his head, so that his face was not clearing visible.

OOC: Ill play as Darren.

Darren was asked to schoufer a Senator around. What he didnt know was that the man would get rediclously drunk. He could hardly hold his liquor. Darren rather not drink because he was on the Job. He shook his head at the slobering man. Darren just wanted to get the guy home and throw him under the covers and then go home himself. Darren was wearing his normal White armor. The cloka he wore was black and tatared form a prevous battle. It covered mos of the armor except for the gauntlets and boots that he wore. the hood was up to hide his helmet. not much else could be done. His sword was in the usual place on his back and lightsabers on his hips. Darren was temped to take a pistol with him be he decieded that he wouldnt need one.

Darren lead the man out of the bar and was walking him out to the speeder they had came in. He didnt like it how high ranking officals spen money on faster speeders and fancy clothers when they could be using it to feed the poor. Darren took 15 credits from the Senators pockets with out his knolledge and gave it to a homeless man. the man thanksed him and moved on. Darren adressed the Senator. "We'd better get you home Sir."

Adi-Viole-Cloud

The Cerean Bounty Hunter
Adi-Viole-Cloud was on Corruscant after his Underworld Contacts told him of a potential assassination. As a Bounty Hunter, Adi-Viole-Cloud was immediately interested; this was the case however until he found out that the Assassin was not from any crime organization or syndicate. Adi-Viole-Cloud felt the need to make a statement: a statement that said "No one, but his own faction should be able to successfully carry out high level assassinations."

Adi-Viole-Cloud followed the Senetor and his guard from the shadows. They were coming out of the bar and were on their way towards a high-end luxury speeder. He waited to see what would happen next; if there was an assassin near by, they would attack while the Senator was drunk and vulnerable. Cloud thought to himself, How would I kill the Senator? Cloud looked at the speeder again only to realize the easiest way to assassinate a rich drunk man is to put a bomb in his transport because he would likely have someone escort him back to the transport after he had become overly intoxicated.

Cloud made his move, he ran by the senator and his guard to throw a sonic detonator into the speeder. This would hopefully trigger any explosives wired to the transport.

An open-topped six person speeder cruised through the permacrete and durasteel jungle that was Coruscant. Riding in the speeder were six masked men with thick cloaks and heavy shawls, but to the naked eye they would appear as a blur as the speeder continued onward through the city towards some unknown destination. At the feet of the masked men in the last row of the speeder was a unconscious male human, his name was unknown to the men, for they did not target him specifically, but he was in the wrong place at the wrong time and now had become a cog in the men's plan. That plan was to assassinate a one Senator Brunswick by whatever means possible, and they planned to do just that. They were getting close now, they could feel it in their blood, and thus they pulled off from the main traffic flow to land on a nearby building ledge. There they all filed out, and rearranged the unconscious man to sit in the driver's seat as one of the men attached what appeared to be a small datapad to the dash panel, made some swift keystrokes on its touch-pad surface, and pressed a button.

The speeder would hover in the air before flying away down the flow of traffic they were originally going down. The men sprung into action, using ledges and grappling hooks to scale the walls of nearby buildings and run along the rooftops as they spread out in a perimeter around a small part of the city. What was within that perimeter, was the rather drunken Senator, his Dark Jedi escort, and a certain Cerean bounty hunter who had no part to play in the plan just yet. Suddenly the speeder burst into view, seemingly on an uncontrollable collision course with the Senator's current position!

Davin had stood along side of the senator in civilian clothes with a vest underneath his jacket and armor piercing sub machine gun strapped to said vest. The jacket was Corellian leather and he wore spacer pants and a spacer's cap so to most he'd look like a semi overweight freighter pilot. As the Dark Jedi began to move the senator Davin followed behind.

As the bounty hunter sprinted past Davin tensed up, until it became clear that he wasn't going for the senator, but his speeder. Davin was confused but reacted instinctively as he heard the tell tale whine of a speeder gunning the throttle. He turned and noting the speeder's apparent vector, threw the jacket to the ground and crouched, firing with the sub machine gun with deadly accuracy.

Delila had been yawning all day. A boring assignment and a infant son who wouldn't sleep made for an interesting combination. Why did they have to watch this Senator? Delila did not understand Davin's insistence that they break away from real work and watch this guy. Maybe her half-brother was hoping for some type of promotion or money to come the 73rds way. That would be useful, they could use some more heavy troop transports.

Once the Senator started to move, Delila started to move. She was dressed simply in the bar, black pants tucked into black buckled boots, a red dress-like top and her knee-length pea coat. Underneath the coat was her S-5 officers heavy blaster pistol. Unlike Davin, she preferred to travel a bit lighter. The blaster could still easily pierce armor and get the job done. Especially 'undercover'. Better to blend into the bar than looking like a tick waiting to pop.

Delila was behind the hired guard/driver, not catching his name earlier. Didn't matter. While the whine of an engine, Delila turned her attention to the streets. A speeder was headed straight for the hired guard, herself, and the Senator. Davin was already laying down cover fire but Delila doubted that would stop the runaway vehicle. Grabbing the drunk Senator, Delila pulled him sharply back into the bar with her. She knocked into some patrons but the group would have to deal with it.

"Lets move...Take him out the back entrance" Delila spoke to the other man(Darren), already starting to drag their drunk Senator towards the kitchen and thus the exit.

Even back in college, Brunswick never took more than one single Corellian Ale per day. Typically, one might not even wake up until the next day if they drink more than two bottles of it. Darren Brunswick failed to notice that the people that seemed to be following him were his personal guards, and was about to tell them to stop following him when he heard something. The sound of an engine of a speeder, growing louder by the passing second. He stood up from the park bench, frowning and wondering what in the Galaxy could be possibly happening. He then noticed a medium sized speeder suddenly bursting into view right infront of him. He let out a yell of suprise when suddenly a woman that had been sitting behind the driver in his personal speeder grabbed hold of him and pulled him sharply away so that he missed the speeder with mere inches to spare. He heard suprised yells and screams behind him as a huge explosion sounded, probably that of the speeder. He realized that he was back inside the bar, and cursed loudly. He knew that he was drunk, but was it possible that what had just happened wasn't from the hallucinations from drinking that alcohol? Brunswick debated this while he was forcefully led away.

Darren knew that the woman had grabbed the Senator and there for took care of the other guard. Since there was a slight space between the ground and the speeder Darren knocked the man over so the two of them were on the ground. The speeder scraped Darren's armor and he knew that it was deadly close. He then helped the man up and said "Wed better get to the senator." Darren looked around for anything that would be suspicous. Nothng of note came to him. He went over to the exploded Speeder and checked the still flaming wreckage for a person when he found none.

Darren was mystifyed by the fact. he went back into the bar where they would be waiting for him.

Adi-Viole-Cloud

The Cerean Bounty Hunter
The heavily guarded Senator was forcefully led away before the Speeder could run him over. Meanwhile Cloud was debating whether or not he should follow the politician or try to find the Assassin. There was a large risk in trying to find the Assassin because he was unaware of the Assassin's abilities let alone the potential numbers they were facing. Often times Bounty Hunters will team up with mercenaries, the mercenaries would be used like pawns because every good Bounty Hunter/Assassin played out their assassinations as if they were playing an expert game of Dejarik. Cloud decided to follow the Senator and his three guards in order to see how things would unfold. Once all the pieces were in play, he would make his move. There was no point in using stealth now that they had already seen him so he would play the role of concerned citizen. "Wait up! I can help!"

The men watched as their initial attack failed, but that would not deter them. They moved silently, watching the senator's progress from afar as they quickly formed their next move patiently. One of the masked assassins wielded a sniper rifle, and moved to find a place suitable that would cover most of the back exits of the building the Senator was forced into. He unfolded the bipod and laid prone on a balcony overlooking the building, cybernetics in his helmet allowing for a zoom up to twelves time that of a normal human and he scanned each entrance and exit slowly, an advanced triangulation reticle slowly moving in and out as it waited to lock onto something at the mental command of the assassin. Meanwhile, another would be doing the same while three more assembled assault weapons in case they needed the extra fire power, while the last one set up a small relay that would jam communications everywhere for at least 500 to 800 meters in all directions. People would be confused as their calls were suddenly disconnected and could not be reconnected. Thus the assassins waited for their chance.

[[OOC-Was waiting on Davin but I'll just continue]]

Delila narrowed her eyes at the citizen. Just great, probably some paparazzi posing as a concerned bar fly. The Lieutenant could care less about the reputation of the Senator, the person would just be a major distraction. Especially when she was trying to move her charge out of the building and into a slightly safer area. No idea if the back alley was indeed safe but it was quite clear the front was not. Delila was still bodily dragging the Senator-now through the bars dank kitchen, with the hired guard and Davin bringing up the rear.

"Someone tell Mr.Overly Concerned we don't need his help. Last thing we need in fact" Delila said to both Darren and Davin. She would trust one of them to intercept the bar fly and keep him at arms length.

Reaching the back door to the alley, Delila pushed it open.....

Brunswick noticed that some random citizen seemed to be tagging along them. He then realized that there was another person that was guarding him that was named Darren. "We've got the same name, buddy!" he slurred slightly, patting Darren Shaw on the back when the mercenary came into the bar. As drunk as he was, Darren Brunswick noted that he seemed to be being dragging away from someone. "What's going on?" he asked no one in particular as he tried to make sense of the situation. As his group slowly made their way to the exit of the bar, he could tell something else was amiss. Many of the people inside the bar seemed to be confused for some reason, cursing at their phones or otherwise just staring at it. Even in his drunk state, Brunswick could tell someone must've jammed the communication in the area.

As the speeder exploded in a brilliant fashion Davin popped a new clip into his sub machine gun and dashed past the crowd to where Delila and the Jedi had dragged the senator. Davin had leveled his weapon on the "concerned citizen" before Delila had even spoke.

"You're lucky I'm in a generous mood, get out of here now."

Davin planned to fire if the man continued to move or pursued his current course of action any further. With the senator in danger now was not the time to play games.

Darren knew that the Soldier could hold his own against the man who had come up. Darren followed the woman out of the bar though the back. He smiled at the thought that the man final noticed his name was the same as his. Darren saw that the systems in the area went down. He knew that his com systems and his Hud went down too. Darren said out loud. "Com systems down. any eletronic devices wont work." How ever Darren knew that the emp would not affect his lighsabers. He walked behind the woman out the back.

Adi-Viole-Cloud

The Cerean Bounty Hunter
Adi-Viole-Cloud was told by the two soldiers to leave, this was of little concern, because he knew that someone wanted the Senator dead and this was the ultimate leverage. The male soldier pointed a blaster at him, but Adi-Viole-Cloud was quick enough to pull out his hold out blaster at the same time putting them both in a stand-still. "I could help the assassins if you like. I mean even though we dont have communication, dont know who is targetting the Senator, and dont know how many assassins there are I am sure you guys can handle it. Maybe you have it under such good control that I need to help them in order to make this game more fair." Adi-Viole-Cloud paused, "Now youre thinking about what type of person would consider this situation a game. You're studying my response. This will do you no good because as soon as I devote my tactical skills against you, it'll be too late. Now its simple, you can send me off in which case I will join the assassins, or you could let me help you. Oh, but wait, there is a third option isnt there? You could engage me in combat right now thus halting your position and leaving you open for the assassins to make their move."

Not leaving many options, Adi-Viole-Cloud poured on some more scenarios, "Perhaps you think you can buy your time by taking me along and then get rid of me later on, in which case I might as well leave and help in your demise. Maybe, just maybe you considering engaging me in 3 to 1 combat in order to make the combat quick so you can hastily move your position as we're doing right now, but this wont do any good. If you would try something like that, It would put you on the defensive because at some point you will realize that I am would start to target the Senator if you decided to pull something like that causing you to protect the Senator from my assualt. This leaves you one final option, you could leave someone behind to engage me in combat while the others take the senator to a safe spot, but then we come back to the fact that you dont know how many people are after the drunk you have to carry across the city; also I dont think anyone here, but the Jedi could take me on in a 1 vs 1 fight. Now, lets see how clever you are. Will you accept my help while my offer is still sincere, or should we play one of these scenarios out?"

The targeting reticle on the sniper hovered over the opening backdoor, the rifleman waiting patiently until the senator was in side before doing anything. When the Senator wasn't the first to show up, the sniper prepare to wait patiently for him to actually show himself, but a command from the one setting up the jamming system changed that course of action. New orders were to kill anyone in the Senator's company, and thus the woman and the armored man that followed her out were now both targets. The sniper took aim at the woman while the other snipe across the way took aim at the armored man, and both fired their weapons almost simultaneously at each one's upperchest/head area while the other assassins armed with assault weapons rappelled down the sides of the buildings and prepared to flank the survivors when/if the two opening shots connected with their intended targets. The one who set up the jammer seemed content to just stay back and watch the events unfold around him, not making a move to join the assassins on the ground nor move to fire against the senator and his defenders.

Senator Brunswick shook his head as he tried to keep himself from going completely drunk. He didn't want to end up getting assasinated for drinking a bottle of Corellian Ale. The random person who's name was apparently Adi-Viole-Cloud started giving them a whole bunch of things that could happen. "One heck of an optimistic person you are...." he muttered to the guy. He started towards the rear exit, with his escorts right infront of him. Suddenly, as soon as they exited the building, Brunswick heard the unmistakeable sounds of sniper rifles. He didn't feel anything that could've hit him, and whirled around to see what might've happened to his two escorts.

Darren felt the Force wisper to him about someting was amiss. He used a force sheild around the Senator, the other guard and himself. Blocking all of the shots that came towards them. He was glad that he had the force orels he couldnt do the things that he had done in the past. he grabbed the Senator and got back inside the door. he layed him on the ground and asked "Are you shot?" he looked anywhere for blood. to his relef there was not a single drop.

Once Delila heard the shots of the sniper rifle ring out she knew it was too late for her. As she was about to drop to a crouch and pull the Senator with her, an invisible bubble stopped the angry-red blaster bolts from hitting them. She arced an eyebrow at Darren briefly but did not question their good fortune of having a Force user in their midst.

Following Darren back inside, Delila let him handle the Senator. She personally did not see any blood and turned her attention back to the snipers. She carefully crept around to a small window above the cooktop in the kitchen. Lifting the A280 to her eye, the Republic soldier used the scope to cautiously look around, keeping a low profile and darting beneath the line of sight from time to time.

Sinking back down, she looked to Darren. "Someone wants us dead. I'm going to try to spook him off the roof"

Not waiting for a reply, Delila went back to the small window and lifted the blaster once again, firing a few shoots onto the top ledges of the rooftop. She knew she wouldnt get lucky in hit this person. It would either scare him off or make him reveal his position. Hopefully.

Adi-Viole-Cloud

The Cerean Bounty Hunter
Adi-Viole-Cloud knew that the first onslaught was here. He knew that this was just the first wave because if he had minons he would send a small group out to test the guards power followed by the real deal once calculations had been done. The female soldier stated her plan and began to leave, "No! Don't you see? They want us to split up so that when they get serious, and believe me when I say this is just feeling us out, they will attack us in a tactical manner in which we will not be able to defend against if we are all split up. I suggest that we get into a position with as much cover as possible, cover the blind spots, and ride it out while we try to get our communications back up. Lets not play this stupid."
