Private An Immeasurable Life cut Short

BX-Strip.png

It had been some time since the woman stood in the halls of Folor Base - not since her time among the Commenori had she graced the older defensive fortification, though in its prime it was its own beast to be reckoned with as it protected the planet. They didn't need much room, after all, the entirety of the procession and memorial would not be happening in this - for lack of a better term - derelict base. Perhaps though some would appreciate the memorial beginning in such a hallowed and nearly forgotten location. The woman looked out across the void, golden-hues falling upon Commenor that lay just beyond, a soft sigh slipping from her lips as she stood there - and out of respect for her old friend - in a black gown to show that she was still in mourning. The following months after learning of NPC Treasury NPC Treasury passing had been rough on the woman, though she found a means to codify that grief and turn it into something truly unique, a means to remember her friend and ensure that those ideals she held so close - enough in those moments in which the Dark Side of the Force had taken hold of her - would thrive in the galaxy.

Taking a moment to permit herself to breathe - the first in what seemed to be hours or so it felt as much - she offered a soft smile to the guests that had already arrived and more that were arriving. All had been touched by Kay at some point in their life, and for many their existences itself had been shaped and changed all because of their closeness to the woman that had once been the Queen of Commenor. When the small hanger that she had requisitioned for the event seemed to be filled with all of those that would be attending the memorial, she nodded softly before speaking up, keeping her hands clasped together as they rest against her lap.

"Thank you all for coming. I know that for many of us we may have never met, nor have we not seen each other since the Commenor Systems Alliance sought to bring peace to the turmoil of the galaxy. We have all had our missteps and growth since that time, and no more could that be said than for Kay, the woman, who unfortunately in death, has brought us back together. She has, each of us, touched and shaped us each in her own means - and perhaps - there will come a time when we will be afforded the chance to see her again. However, until such a time, we must thrive on memories and live with our grief at the galaxy losing such an individual."

Slowly turning to her side, her attention shifted out into the void once more before she permitted a smile to cross her lips. It was time to reveal the true memorial to Kay, and once more those golden-hues settled, her attention now falling upon Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun and Caedyn Arenais.

"Your mother was a uniquely gifted individual, whose life was troubled in its own ways and each time she still pulled herself from the darkness. She lived a life touched by both the Dark Side of the Force and the Light Side of the Force. While I may not have known or been involved in your lives as much as others that were close to your mother, there is one gift that I have to provide for you so that your mother will always be remembered."

Motioning with her hand towards the open void just beyond the shielded hanger bay, she smiled as a massive vessel dropped from Hyperspace - its shape that of a Hapan Nova-cruiser though its appearance more akin to a Nubian Skiff from the planet Naboo. The large vessel slowed just in front of the hanger, a series of shuttles being launched from the colossal vessel.

"I present to you Kay's Lamentation, the location where the memorial for Kay will be held as it traverses from Commenor to Naboo on its first official flight."

It had felt like a lifetime since Lori had been to Commenor. So much had happened. Even in recent weeks. Her capture by the Eternal Empire; not to mention their propaganda branding her a terrorist among them and their allies only made matters worse. The death of her Mom after Caedyn Arenais and his Padawan Kyra Perl Kyra Perl had rescued her seemed highly suspicious. The Eternal Empire had already replaced Curtis Learchin Curtis Learchin for weeks with a Shapeshifter, only to have that ruse fall apart once the real Curtis had returned. It was just...all too much. Lori needed a break. She needed time to grieve not just one parent, but two. And with the loses of both Jaster and Kaine, it seemed as though all of her parental figures were just....gone.

Lori was still dealing with trauma from being beaten and placed in a slab of carbonite, and so she leaned against Curtis, interlocking the fingers of her right hand with his. Her dress was black like most. And to her left sat her brother. Despite them being twins, he already looked older than she did. But then again, after their Dad died, he took on the role of looking after her and especially their Mom.

Yet she couldn't shake her feelings of guilt. If she hadn't of gone after the Empire, then maybe none of this would have happened. Lori glanced sidelong to Caedyn, wondering if he blamed her too.

Her attention turned to Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn while she spoke and presented a vessel named after her Mom. It was sleek and gorgeous, not to mention huge. Lori held her breath, bottling up her emotions as much as she could for the time being. She didn't want to cry right now. She wanted to hold it together until she was alone. So instead she just gave Curtis' hand a squeeze.

It seemed like everyone she knew was dying. Her sister yasha had perished in battle with the dark lord, kaine though her hate for him had been great was in sith hands tono doubt be executed, old friends and mentors had disappeared or died, and now news of her other sisters passing had hit her just after operation beskar falls. Even with such events so recent star made it so that she would be here today. She came wearing her gam, it had become a second skin as of late it seems, standing with the others as she let a heavy sigh out looking over to Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun , poor girl had been through so much poodoo lately it was ridiculous honeslty, no one should have such a life so young... but yet such was life as well at times.

Moving closer to her she stopped and gazed upon the ship as she let a breath of awe out and relaxed a little as she frowned

amazing...just amazing...such grace like her...

Stardusts looked away...could she had stopped her death? Or any of her families? Scrunching her face up she shook her head and stood tall, no she couldn't think like that none of them would want that, they'd want her to keep on fighting

And she would, for them

In Umbris Potestas Est
It was moments like this which caused Vanessa a great deal of pain. Whether as an associate during the neutrality of Commenor, as an enemy when the Commenori were subjugated by the Sith, and as a friend when Vanessa had assisted her in purging the bad memories she had experienced, it had truly been a shock for her to discover that the woman known as NPC Treasury NPC Treasury had finally passed away - no, not passed away. She had been murdered, and surprisingly enough, the evidence did not point to one of Vanessa’s fellow Sith Lords.

Vaness recalled how she had been there mere weeks before the incident in question. How she had gotten the chance to sit down, to take a sip in question of Kay’s tea - the last sip she would get to take with the woman - as they got the opportunity to talk with one another. Now she would never be able to get that favor from Kay, given she was dead.

Or perhaps not, but it was time for mourning.

Caedyn Arenais

Caedyn Arenais stood to the back of the room while the others looked out upon the Monument to his Mother's life, "Kays Lamentation" it had been labeled. The Jedi Knight remained silent, and his gaze distant as his thoughts carried him elsewhere.

This gathering of friends and family was a truly kind gesture and one that would have made NPC Treasury NPC Treasury smile, had she been there to witness it but her death had come suddenly and Caedyn was still trying to come to terms with her loss. First WolfMortum WolfMortum and now their Mom too.

Standing nearby, Asaraa Vaashe Asaraa Vaashe had accompanied Caedyn both in support of her partner but also out of respect to Kay and House Arenais of which she was a part of through her relationship with Caedyn, the man of the house since their father's passing.

With Kay gone, he and Loreena now only had themselves to call family, although it was a hopeful thought that their parents would finally find peace in the afterlife together once more.

How Kay had been killed however, he did not know. It was the first time since he had seen his Sister since her escape from Eternal Empire custody, and Caedyn had not seen their Mom since before that. Whether she had been ill, or it had been through some unnatural cause...-While he wanted to know, the mere fact that she was gone was just too much.

Marina DeVoe

Not a flight attendant... just a risk.
Marina had never met Cessy's children. At least her birth children. But Marina had rescued many of Commenor's children from that fateful day when good rose up to defy evil... The Sith Empire.
And of the current hostess... she had never had the misfortune of running into the likes of her either.

Her dearest friend Cessy were said to have passed. It were what her House on Alderaan had heard.
Cessy. It were how she knew Kay Areanis. It were as to how they met. Marina did not know the queen of commoner when she had visited that system. She had picked up a passenger who went by the name Cessy. A woman who for the most part just wanted to book a day trip to the canyons.
That trip wound up to become an adventure. One which spanned several days and have them first come to discover the test ground for what were to be the Amber Crissis.

Their friendship was what lead a pacifist like marina to head on over to aid her friend when the sith ravaged Commoner and tore it's Alliance to pieces. All in all, Marina never once abandoned her friend's side, even if she were light years distance. Marina came to Commoner system's aid during it's most desperate hours...saving countless Commonerii children, whisking them safely out of harms way...running sith blockades... there was nothing Marina would not have done for her friend and people.

Now?
Now with news of her friend's passing, she had been notified of a memorial being honored in Kay's name.
Despite Marina's reservations as to whom were sponsoring this memorial, she would have ran blockades to attend. She would have found the means, with or without an invite.

Kay's lamentation were just.
Marina could not deny it were what Cessy would have wanted if there was one wish she were given to sum up her life's devotion.
marina nodded, kept her emotions to self as she took in the grandeur of the hospital ship. Berkana (God) it were much, much more than a ship. It were a mobile hospital center. It would have been what her friend Cessy would have prayed to see over her Commenor when it were at it's most dire hour. The sith had taken so many souls and they hadn't differentiated between defensive forces and civilians... mothers, fathers, elderly and children. The sith had suffered them all.

Marina stood there with the many whom had come to bade their farewell to a great lady, and to honor the memorial ship built in her name by Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn .
And there, for the first time, she spotted whom were Cessy's children. She had never had the opportunity to meet them...the galaxy's chaos had seen to that several times...missed opportunities.
nevertheless, she recognized them from holo-recordings. It hurt her to think they would never know how close she were to their mother Cessy.
Cessy who whom Marina knew as a woman. Cessy who was a mother first, a wife and a queen. Cessy, her beloved friend.
How cruel the galaxy were to take one of their brightest away, Marina thought. as she sadly looked to Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun and Caedyn Arenais

Curtis stood silently beside Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun , knowing that his place was to comfort her. He had met NPC Treasury NPC Treasury only once before, when she had broken the news of Lori's father's death. And now, she had joined him. Around them, mourners from across the galaxy watched the ceremony, Curtis only knowing one other person there.

Caedyn Arenais stood as solemnly as he had the last time they'd met, but Curtis could sense his pain. He has always been attuned to the emotions of himself and others, it was what made him powerful. But it also meant that he felt emotions more strongly. Gripping Lori's hand tightly in his own, he felt her head rest against him softly. His suit had been freshly pressed, having been bought almost solely for this occasion. It was the least he could do, rather than turn up clad in armour.

"How are you doing, Lori?" He asked, knowing already that she was struggling. But sometimes it helped to speak about it.

Subject 73 Red

We're more ghosts than people.
Red stood at attention as Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn started speaking to them. Even though they were off-duty, it was still natural for Red to stand at attention for a superior officer, especially to a Grand Marshal, despite whatever circumstances they might be under, even if it was a funeral.

Red didn't have all that much in terms of fancy clothing, so he just wore his dress uniform. It was either this or his armor, and that didn't feel appropriate for the occasion, especially for the death of NPC Treasury NPC Treasury . The least he could do was look presentable for those in attendance, even if he wasn't exactly a fan of clothes that didn't have a combat purpose.

Red's experiences with Kay were... Interesting, to say the least. Like how he had hunted her down, nearly captured her, then defended her and her shop from gangsters. It was definitely a bizarre turn of events, but Red had gotten to know her quite a bit during that time together. So upon hearing that she was dead... Red of course came to the memorial held by the Grand Marshal, whom Red was surprised had met Kay, though he knew that Kay had an interesting life. And she held many secrets... Secrets Red wished to uncover. He would soon return to her tea shop, and find out what he could see. But for now, he would honor her memory.

Looking around the crowd, he didn't really recognize many faces. It was a wide assortment of Jedi, Sith, and plenty of other types. Kay definitely did have an interesting life...

He did recognize Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun . He had interacted with her quite a couple of times now. He knew that she had just recently been busted out of prison from the Eternal Empire. Honestly, with the Zweihander Union now working under the Eternal Empire, under different circumstances Red would have to arrest her, or take more permanent measures. But not today. Today was a memorial for her mother. He knew that she now had lost both parents, which would be difficult for her. When they saw each other again though... That would be a different story. He gave a quick salute to Loreena before turning back to Grand Marshal Sorenn.

Then, at that moment, a large ship appeared out of hyper space. Red was amazed by the sheer size of the thing. This was Kay's memorial?! It was huge! Kay definitely had some friends in some very high places...

Well this was gonna be one hell of a memorial.

Wearing: Resistance Epidermis

Armed with: The Dark Side, ScarJo looks...

Objective: Mourn...if possible...

The Amalgam did not understand the feeling that washed over her at the moment.

After the disaster at Kar Shian, The Amalgam had gone into hiding to rebuild her assets. Telling The Royal Marine Remnant to look after her, it had apparently not been enough...whoever had done Kay in had slaughtered them also.

Upon learning Kay was dead, The Amalgam had been stunned. Kar Shian had been a set back, not what she wanted...she had sent Kay away for her own safety. She had not been ready to help her fight and corrupt her daughters...

She, in short, thought she had more time.

And now she was alone again.

The homicidal SithSpawn had never felt such disquiet at this prospect, as she watched the proceedings with her body and presence camouflaged. She didn't understand this feeling. Kay was gone. People die all the time.

She knew, deep down, that NPC Treasury NPC Treasury would almost certainly have rejected her once the full weight of her crimes surfaced between them. She had actually dreaded it. But it seemed The Bogan had offered a small gift, taking her before The Amalgam could see the rejection on her face like she had seen on Uri, on Julia...

Julia's rejection had caused real pain, for the first time in a long time. Knowing the truth had not broken Laertia as she had expected. But that look of refutation would haunt The Amalgam forever, and the look Kay might have given her would have hurt nearly as bad.

She wasn't sure what to feel, as she watched it all happen with this deadness inside of her.

Should she be sad, that she had no friends, or greatful her one friend was dead before she could get a real good peak at the monstrosity hiding under Black Widow looks?

The Amalgam didn't even know what to do at a funeral...besides hide...

There were relatively few times you could find a group of people of one mind about a situation, even in the middle of a war-room with the imminent threat of death and destruction looming over your heads everyone still had their own agendas, their own plans and ideas to push. Even the council of the Jedi wasn't immune from the lure of politics, it was only natural after all. For all their attempts, everyone's attempts, to do better, to be better, they were all still driven by the basic instinct to control to push their goals.

It was politics, something Lady Kay had known all too well.

And yet...here in this room, here at this time there was a uniformity of thought, of emotion. In this room, you had the soldiers, the Jedi, the Sith and the others all brought together united in one purpose, the remembrance of a life that had flared bright and touched all of them in someway. To tell the truth, Asaraa had probably had the least contact with Lady Kay of anyone here, she knew her as Caedyn's mother, as the ex-queen of Commenor. the pink-haired Jedi had met her in both roles, but she knew there had been so many more. Roles of the light, roles of the dark that had touched everyone here.

She'd never thought that she could be in the same room as a Sith without them drawing their blades, without clashing with one another and trying to kill one another. Only, the force in the room was calm, only sustained with the sadness they all felt at the woman's passing. Soft footsteps paced up to the side of her boyfriend, her hand reaching out to slip into his, squeezing it softly as she leaned against his side.

No words, just that silent support as she reached out to him through the force.

Mig sighed, his helmet clipped to his belt. He'd only met NPC Treasury NPC Treasury a few times, but when he heard the news... it hit him. He knew she wasn't one to just accept things either. To try and always make things better for everyone in the galaxy, not just one party. But just like that.... The Galaxy didn't discriminate on who it took away. If it did, people like Kay wouldn't need memorials. At least he thought so. He looked at everyone there, listening carefully to the speech Amelia von Sorenn Amelia von Sorenn . She explained it well. Kay was something different, and it may've been naïve to think, but Mig did hope that this would somehow bring some more peace to the galaxy. Realizing what it had lost.

"Nu kyr'adyc, shi taab'echaaj'la (Not gone, merely marching far away.)"

His gaze soon turned to Caedyn Arenais and Loreena Arenais-Valhoun Loreena Arenais-Valhoun . While he hadn't met Caedyn all that much, he'd seen Lori a few times. He closed his eyes before walking closer. He noticed Star there, sensing something was wrong with her. He simply placed a hand on his sister's shoulder, looking on at Kay's children. Pain. Hurt. But he'd seen them in action. Heard what they were doing. They were keeping their parents' legacy alive. Hopefully everyone could....

"She'll be remembered, ade (kids)." While this was directed to Lori and Caedyn, he had no idea if they'd even hear him. It didn't matter if they did or not though. He just let them mourn now.

Curtis Learchin Curtis Learchin knew how she felt. He could feel it due to their Force Bond. And it wasn't difficult to guess either, given the memorial that was taken place. Yet Lori was a mixture of emotions, both shock and grief, guilt and anger. There was just so much that she couldn't pin down.

"I'm glad you're here. The real you." Though the fake Curtis seemed to care for her too, and even looked after her. "And I think that after this .... we need a vacation. Away from rebellions and empires. I need a break to adjust to....this...." Just where that would be, she wasn't entirely sure. Although she was certain that Caedyn Arenais wouldn't mind her sticking around on Commenor for a while. Even Darlyn Excron Darlyn Excron would love to see his favourite niece. Speaking of which, she wondered just where he was....

Subject 73 Red Subject 73 Red caught her eye with his salute. Not yet knowing that they were now enemies, she gave him a small nod of her head. The last that she knew, they were friends. And he was a friend of her mom's. Or at least he was...

Lori swallowed a lump in her throat. She didn't want to cry. She had to be strong like her brother.
