An Innocent Encounter (Ferus)

Cartris stood on the beach of Malif Cove. The gentle sea breeze was very nice, and the grains of sand covered his shoes. He was meeting someone, but he had no idea where exactly he was going. He decided to walk around the beach, hoping he could find the person he was looking for. Above the beach, he saw a cave. Maybe there's something in that cave. Eh, it's probably not too important. He looked at the ocean, and the beautiful horizon. It wasn't exactly sunset yet, so the view could be better.

Where could this guy be? He wondered. The temperature began to drop, so Cartris decided to leave the waters and look around the mainland. He was told to go to Malif Cove, but nothing more. I guess I could go check out what's in that cave. As he got closer to the entrance, he saw a person. Finally, I found him! He started to walk towards the entrance.

What [member="Cartris Elsdar"] would find was a single humanoid form guarding the entrance. A humanoid form, that on closer inspection, was nothing but a droid. A DHK to be specific. The rifle in his hands lifted up as soon as the man came into sight, and it's hollow robotic voice would call out. "Statement: This is private property. Querry: why are you here?" The deadly droid would keep the rifle pointed, but slowly he would lower it as a second voice filled the air.

"He's here to see me, Guardian, lower your rifle for now." From behind the droid stepped the Zabrak, Darth Ferus, with his arms clasped behind his back. His blue gaze fell to the man, giving him a once over before he continued to speak. "I, am Darth Ferus. You, well. I don't remember your name. Introduce yourself if you would."

When Cartris got to the entrance, he was about to introduce himself to the man. As he got closer, he realized that it was actually a droid. He took one step closer and the droid immediately spun to face him, rifle raised and aimed at him. He panicked and stepped back, but the droid still had the rifle aimed at him. He closed his eyes, preparing himself for the pain. He heard the robotic voice voice telling him that the place was private property. Then there must be something in there.

Suddenly, he heard an actual man's voice coming from inside of the cave. The voice told the guarding droid to lower it's weapon. To his relief, the droid lowered his weapon. The man stepped out of the entrance, revealing himself. His gaze locked onto Cartris. He introduced himself as Darth Ferus, and finally Cartris took a deep breath, the first breath he had taken since he saw the droid. "I'm Cartris, Cartris Elsdar. Would you mind telling me what exactly this place is?" Cartris asked. And also what exactly is so important that you need to have a droid holding a rifle guarding it.

"This place is my home. I'm not a fan of people going inside though. Precious secrets to protect and all that." Ferus spoke truthfully, but he wasn't going to give out all the information. "But now we talk about why you're here, [member="Cartris Elsdar"] . Why not tell me yourself?" Slowly the Zabrak began to circle this hopeful, his gaze looking over each part of him. He seemed fit at least, so there was a bonus. With a sharp whistle, Ferus would call out two of his own apprentices, [member="Saiah"] and [member="Kitty"] , to come meet the new comer.

Kitty

The Attention Seeker
Kitty was on the beach training her force barrier. She would use the force to hurl large rocks in the air and then try to stop it with the barrier without it breaking. She almost crushed herself with a falling rock when she was distracted by a new scent she was not familiar with. She jumped out of the way just in time when she realized she had let herself get distracted. The young feline deiced to go investigate this intruder. She had memorized the scent of all of the assassins. Course it could just be that one of the assassins returning had the scent of someone else heavy upon them. That was pretty common for their particular occupation.

Kitty was about to go searching when one of Kitty's ears snapped to attention and worked to locate the familiar sound of her master whistling to call her. The acolyte was pretty far away from her master but her hearing was far more developed than the average sentient. The sharpness with which he whistled allowed Kitty to hear it over vast distances. The sith abandoned her curiosity searched and headed towards the source of the sound.

As she neared the unfamiliar scent grew stronger and she was pleasantly surprised to find the source of her curiosity in the same place as her master. Kitty looked over the blue eyed human before turning to Ferus. "Who is this?" She asked.

Home. Cartris thought. He hadn't had a home for awhile. Maybe that was what he was looking for, a home. He knew how important homes were, and people protected their homes. He didn't have anything, or anyone else. So he might as well. "I was looking for some training. A friend of mine told me about you guys." Was she actually a friend? Probably not, but he still went with it. He looked at [member="Darth Ferus"], who seemed to be examining him. Would he get kicked out? Possibly, but he knew he had to take his chances. It wasn't like he had anything else to do, or anyone else to talk to anyway. He heard a whistle, and braced himself.

He saw a feline, most likely a cat appear from behind. A cat?! This place just get's weirder and weirder. "I'm Cartris. I'm new here, I guess." I wonder how many other people are here.

Saiah had been sitting just inside, hidden in a stone crevace. She had been reading the chronicles of Darth Plagueis and his apprentice on a datapad, but when the Dark Lord called she would come. She rolled off the crevace and landed lightly on her feet in the sand before stepping out into the striking light of the sandy beach outside Malif Cove. She was a tall, chalk-skinned humanoid with pale eyes and black tendrils tattooed all over her skin. Her eyes narrowed momentarily as they adjusted to the change of light, but she marched on.

"You called, Lord Ferus?"

Her pale eyes traveled from the red-skinned Zabrak to the newcomer, the corner of her mouth twisting in a brief sardonic smile, then fading into an icy demeanour. She surveyed the boy like a piece of meat, or a cow before the slaughter. She listened to his words as if she weighed each one, even the way he spoke was under her criticism. She also threw Kitty a passing glance and nod, so as to acknowledge her presence.

"Good, you've both come. There's a simple task for the two of you, one I expect you both to be able to complete without any issue. This man here, [member="Cartris Elsdar"] , has come for training. You will provide that. I've shown both of you enough that together you can teach someone else. Any objections?" The question to [member="Saiah"] and [member="Kitty"] wasn't really a question. Any concerns or objections they would have would be ignored. With this however, the Red Man would leave the trio to do training on their own. It was time for both the Rattaka and the cat to learn the responsibilities of having an apprentice.

Kitty

"What?" Kitty asked more than a little dumbfounded. [member="Darth Ferus"] seemed to ignore her confusion and walked off. The young feline was still learning herself. Not to mention she was a bit of an unstable time bomb. She didn't want to get stressed out and accidentally kill the poor guy. What did she know that she could possibly teach him. Kitty looked over at [member="Saiah"] hoping she had some idea about what the heck they were suppose to do.
[member="Cartris Elsdar"]

While not one to exclaim so brazenly as Kitty had done, Saiah was just as disturbed by the notion as Kitty. Though the concept of teaching was not too alien for her, she was a bit overwhelmed with the sudden nature of his request, and of course, that she would have to share. Saiah was never very good at sharing, and she had not practised so much with Kitty before as to know what her skills were truly like. Even on Coruscant they had been posted in separate teams far from each other. Then again, perhaps that was the challenge. They had been trained by the same Master, their training could not have been too different.

"None at all, Lord Ferus. We will take good care of the newcomer."

She knew [member="Darth Ferus"] wouldn't care to listen to their issues anyway. She had barke up that tree before. It was more important to appear strong before their new Acolyte than it was to press questions on a Sith Lord determined not to answer. Saiah turned her eyes to eyes to [member="Kitty"], and then to [member="Cartris Elsdar"] in turn. Her hand gripped Cartris' shoulder firmly and she urged him to walk with them.

"Tell me, what do you know of the Dark Side of Force? What have you been told?"

Cartris watched quietly as the three talked and exchanged glances with each other. He was too scared to speak anyway. When the cat's facial expression changed to shock, he exhaled and sighed. It was good to know that these people had some emotion. From their conversation, Cartris guessed that the cat and the woman were going to be teaching him. He bit his lip, forcing himself not to speak. As the red man walked off, he grew worried. He had just left Cartris with two strangers. He had actually kind of liked Darth Ferus. He wasn't very trusting, but he appreciated the fact that they did not immediately kill him on sight.

At first, after Darth Ferus walked off, there was a moment of silence. The cat seemed to look at the woman, mentally asking her what exactly they were supposed to do. A moment later, they began to walk. Cartris however, remained stiff. He felt a pair of hands grasp his shoulder and immediately tensed up. He wasn't used to the physical contact. He was urged to walk with them. Finally, a voice came from ahead of him.

"Tell me, what do you know of the Dark Side of Force? What have you been told?"

He thought about the question, and answered honestly.

"To be completely honest, not much. I know that there are two side of the Force, light and dark. That's pretty much it." He knew it would not be wise to lie.

((Sorry about the late response, I had summer camp and stuff.))

Kitty

The Attention Seeker
Kitty followed [member="Saiah"] as she led them.......well Kitty didn't know where she was being led but Saiah seemed to have a handle on things. She asked the new person what he knew of the dark side and his answer was nothing. Kitty couldn't claim she knew much about the dark side either, so this was certainly nothing she could contribute in. Plus if she did try to say anything her own philosophy would likely get in the way of how Ferus wanted him to be trained. Kitty just followed along letting Saiah take the lead.
[member="Cartris Elsdar"]

Saiah only meant to move them down the beach, then back up. Movement gave an illusion of progression and stimulated the mind, or so she found. Had they remained stationary, they would also be stuck in a mental stalemate. Progress had to be made. The beach seemingly stretched as far as the eye could see, and the waves crashed on the sand with a roar. As the newcomer was coming along, Saiah let go of [member="Cartris Elsdar"]'s shoulder, she could feel his discomfort and preferred his mental capacities spent otherwise. He seemed hardly familiar with the Force and its mysteries, then again that also allowed for a proper foundation to be laid down.

"I see. And are you familiar with the Code of the Sith? If not, I would suggest you familiarize yourself with it, I find it has given me guidance when in doubt."

Saiah's eyes shifted to [member="Kitty"], and for a moment she wondered whether the Felucian was familiar with the code. Perhaps that could be reason for her lack of.. Sithiness.

Cartris followed the other two down back to the beach. He watched the waves crash against the rocks. It was a beautiful sight to look at, even with the strange silence. The three of them looked at the waves thoughtfully. When it seemed like he couldn't stand the silence much longer, [member="Saiah"] spoke up again. "And are you familiar with the Code of the Sith? If not, I would suggest you familiarize yourself with it, I find it has given me guidance when in doubt." Cartris shook his head again. "No, I don't know about the Code of the Sith either." He said simply. He didn't even know that the Sith had a code. Perhaps there really was something to the Sith that he was not taught when he first learned about their existence. He looked at the [member="Kitty"], who had not said a single word since he met her. Whether she was quiet, confused, or both was beyond Cartris's knowledge. He just hoped he could learn a thing or two from these two strangers that he would one day come to respect.

((Again, sorry for the late post. Camp :p))

"Peace is a lie - there is only passion.
Through Passion I gain Strength.
Through Strength I gain Power.
Through Power I gain Victory.
Through victory my chains are broken.
The Force shall free me."
"That is our code. Within those words lie all the secrets of the Sith, it is only a matter of deciphering the meanings and applying them to whatever it is you must do. Carve those words into your conciousness and they will guide you in any and all ventures."

She was not surprised he did not know. Shamefully many within the Order of the One Sith did not heed those words on which their entire order was built. Though, perhaps she could imprint these important words on this fresh mind, so new and malleable. He was clay and she would sculpt him into the beginnings of a Sith. Cut away all that is unnecessary and heat him in fire until he emerged a symbol of power and mastery. She understood now the benefits of teaching. She looked at [member="Cartris Elsdar"] and then to [member="Kitty"] Her pale grey eyes piercing deep into them.

"Now, Cartris, what do you know of the Sith? Who are we, and why do you deserve to be one of us?"

It was not a question of wanting. Many wanted to be Sith, but Sith was a title with which there came a certain honour and responsibility. To be Sith was earned. It was also a test to see if he truly coveted the power, if he had the boldness to take it and the ambition to use it.
